Virtual Parent Information Night 2020-2021
Please join us tonight for our Virtual Parent Information Night (PreK-8 families). You will access the virtual videos via our St. Joseph School Rosemount YouTube Channel under the Parent Information Night Playlist. We will provide updates on the first few weeks of school as well as an outline of our school strategic planning goals for the 2020-2021 school year. You will also have an opportunity to view videos from your child’s classroom teachers to learn about Seesaw and Google Classroom as well as the policies and procedures unique to each grade level.
After viewing the introduction video, we invite you to locate and watch the videos prepared by our amazing staff and teachers! For all families, please view the Volunteer/Events/Fundraising video. Next, for students in grades Preschool-5th grade, please locate your child’s homeroom teacher’s video by grade level. Finally, look for our K-5 specialist teachers’ videos--such as p.e., music, and Spanish.
For students in grades 6-7-8, please view all middle school teachers’ videos--Mr. Hale (Social Studies & Religion), Mrs. Sirek (English Language Arts), Mrs. Cummings (Math), Mr. Leach (P.E. & Science), Ms. Hidalgo (Spanish), and Mrs. Mansour (Music).
Feel free to email me at [email protected] or your child’s teachers with questions anytime!

Each school day, with few exceptions, we need volunteers to help monitor recess on the playground. In this role, volunteers (family members of students K - 8) assist school staff with supervision and help to maintain a safe environment for the
school children to play. Students love it when family members come in and show interest in their school day! Please see the Sign-Up Genius site to volunteer!

Hello Folks: My name is Michael Weir, I believe this is year 32-33 I have worked with St Joseph's School as a school counseling specialist. I work in 6 schools in 4 districts this year, which is normal for me. I travel to a different school each day of the work week, some days I get to two. St Joseph's has always been my Wednesday school, my favorite, of course. The schools are k-12, middle school and high school, several are Catholic schools. I have worked full time as a counselor since 1976, first at St Mary's Hospital then in a private practice. I work as a school counseling specialist for David Hoy and Associates, a family practice counseling clinic located in Golden Valley, Mn., they do have several satellite clinics in the metro area. We originally created the school counseling model as a non-profit in 1987. Later, in 2001 the non-profit agency closed and David Hoy and Associates absorbed the school coun-seling program. I have worked with the same counseling management team from the beginning of my school counseling experience. Please feel free to get in touch with me at St Joseph's School, I will get the message and return your call. I also have a school email account and am able to reach out through confidential video, audio or text if we are not able to make contact directly. Be well and good luck and health for the family during the remainder of this school year.
Do you have a passion for Catholic education? If yes, we invite you to apply to be a part of our St. Joseph School Advisory Committee! St. Joseph School is seeking dedicated individuals to serve our school community as an (SAC) School Advisory Committee member. Expertise and experience in marketing, strategic planning, and financial development are desired. This committee was formerly our School Commission. School Strategic Plan Please complete the application form by September 28th, 2020. Applications will be reviewed by our pastor and school principal. The SAC meets one evening per month during the school year (in-person or virtual). School Advisory Committee Application

Sunday Readings and Backgrounds
Twenty sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Reading I : Ezekiel 18:25-28 Turn from what is sinful to what is just and right.
• The belief that children are destined to bear the burden of their parent’s sins was popular in Ezekiel's time.
• God's people felt that the exile was unfair, that God was punishing them for the sins of their ancestors.
• In today's passage, Ezekiel points out; however, that each of us suffers for our own sins. Reading II : Philippians 2:1-11 Make my joy complete.
• The Letter to the Philippians presents Christ as the perfect example of obedience.
• Christ, through obedience, has shown God-likeness so completely that the name of God can be given to him.
• The model, then, that Paul held up for Christian behavior was the model of the obedient Son.
• Note that in this year, this same reading was read on the Feast of the Holy Cross. You may wish to use the short form this Sunday.
Gospel : Matthew 21:28-32 Many will enter the reign of God before you if you do not repent.
• In today's parable, Jesus compares two sons to two groups of people. The first group spoke piously but did nothing; the second group included sinners who eventually acted in faith and repentance.
• The sin of the virtuous might be their refusal to act, their refusal to believe.
• The repentance of the sinners revealed their belief and resulted in action
Activities of the Week Choose one of the following activities as a way to further reflect on the Sunday readings:
• To focus on how faith is lived in your family, brainstorm Christian actions and list them on a poster board. Place the poster in a prominent area of the house for all to see. Have the family place a sticker next to each action as they demonstrate it during the week.
• Each day for family prayer this week, pray the "Prayer of St. Francis."
• Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
• Look through the newspaper this week to find stories about people who actively live their faith.
• Discuss a problem that is not being addressed that needs an immediate solution. This can be something at home or in the community. Talk about possible solutions. Pick out one thing that you can do this week. Decide on a time when you will do it together
