Vikings Host Ohio on Monday; Head to Toledo The Vikings will close out their three-game homestand this week, as they host the Ohio Bobcats in a 7:00 p.m. contest on Mon-day, Dec. 5. CSU will then travel to Toledo for a 12:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Dec. 10 to finish off the week. Last week the Vikings fell to Akron, 84-74 in their lone con-test. Senior Takima Keane led CSU, tying her career-high with 20 points while also setting a career-best with four three-pointers. Keane has now led the CSU offense twice this season, also doing so at Fordham (Nov. 16). Keane leads the Horizon League in three-point field goals made, averaging 2.2 per game and is third in three-point field goal percentage (.464, 13-28), while Janelle Adams ranks second with 4.0 assists per game and Destinee Blue ranks second with a .931 free throw percentage (27-29).

WRESTLING Wins from Nick Flannery (133) and Josh Palivoda (141) weren’t enough to help Cleveland State get past Eastern Michigan as the Eagles won a non-league match, 33-9, on Thursday (Dec. 1). Flanneryearned thefirstVikingwinof thenight when he pinned Jake Byers with seconds to spare, earning the defensive pin at the 6:52 mark. With the win, the sophomore improved to 4-1 in dual meets and earned his team-best third pin. Palivodaextendedhiswinningstreaktofivestraight matches to start the season after taking a 7-3 decision over Seth Schaner at 141 pounds. Cleveland State will host Pittsburgh on Sun-day (Dec. 11) at 1:00 p.m.

Kacey Cummings won both the 1-meter (276.65) and 3-meter (284.50) diving events with newseason-highscoresthatqualifiedherfortheNCAA Zone Diving Championships for the sec-ond consecutive year. Carys Behn, Alexandra Johansson, Joanna Olsson and Alice Sommerville all fared well in Atlanta, Ga. over the weekend where they were participating in the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships.TheVikingsareofffromcompe-tition until their training trip in early January.

MEN’S BASKETBALL TheVikingsconcludetheirsevengameroadswing on Thursday (Dec. 8) with a 7:00 p.m. con-test at Robert Morris before returning home to host Akron at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 10). TheVikings begin theweek at 8-1 overalland 2-0 in the Horizon League after opening the league slate with two wins on the road for the sec-ond straight seasons. CSU won at Wright State (45-43) on Thursday and picked up a 66-61 deci-sion at Detroit on Saturday. Tim Kamczyc scored 12 points in each game toleadtheVikings. MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING Two individual race wins from Nathan Grant and Graham Thoresen as well as a sweep of the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events from Josh GonzalezhelpedtheVikingssweeptheClevelandDual Meet Invitational on Tuesday (Nov. 29) with wins over John Carroll, Canisius and Notre Dame (OH). Gonzalez’s 342.88 on the 3-meter board was a new career-high and was the top score by any Horizon League performer all season. Grant, Brian Ferro, Justin Hill, Justin Ker-mack, Alex Lewis and Berry Thompson repre-sented CSU in Atlanta, Ga. over the weekend at the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships, a meet that featured the top swimmers in the country. Cleveland State will train until their next meet on Jan. 7 when they will participate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. during the annual training trip.

Kermack placed ninth in the 200 me-ter butterfly finals at the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta on Saturday (Dec. 3) night. That came after his 2:02.21 in the prelims - good for eighth in the field of 69 - established a new long course career-best. Earlier in the week, Ker-mack won the 200 fly (1:48.37), a time that was just .11 seconds behind his own school record, and swam third on the victorious 200 medley relay team with a 50 fly split of 22.70 sec-onds at the Cleveland Dual Meet In-vitational (Nov. 29).
