Studying at VictoriaI chose Victoria because of the unique golf study Abroad programme that they offer. I saw the great possibility to combine my studies with my hobby, gaining experience on the professional side at the excellent Victoria management school while also improving my backswing and handicap at two of the finest golf clubs in the region.

At Victoria, there are so many great courses on offer with engaged and motivated lecturers. Also, Wellington is a great place to be with lots of midweek and weekend entertainment.

Coming to New Zealand was the best decision I ever made. being away from home makes you see the world with different eyes and broadens your horizons. you learn so much from Kiwis and people from other countries. everyone takes care of you. It really is a great experience!

ha is one of the top students on the Joint Programme. she has received scholarships for her exceptional academic achievements in hCmC from both Victoria and the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce.

A graduate of Le hong Phong high school, she spent one year at Ueh before transferring to the Joint Programme. studying abroad has been ha’s dream from a very early age. she attributes her success to the active approach that she brings to her studies, contributing her ideas in both lectures and tutorials.

Now in her second year in Wellington, ha enjoys her independent living style and is learning to do many things by herself.

“I love the new environment - it’s not as hot as hCmC, although the wind can be a bit strong! I enjoy the advanced courses I am taking and I have met many new friends from other parts of the world, as well as New Zealand.”

I benefited immensely from the Foundation studies Programme and found the papers it offered intriguing.

Thanks to encouraging lecturers, I was pushed hard in Information management and Computing Technologies to think critically and improve my work. In modern New Zealand Literature, I learnt to appreciate New Zealand writers and their unique cultural background, and gained the knowledge to fit well into this society. There is an exciting array of activities in Wellington such as the World of Wearable Arts show, the Comedy Festival and Phoenix’s games.

my master’s degree is in marine biology and blends field and lab work. To me, using molecular biology to study and protect New Zealand’s bountiful coastline is a job as sacred as anything in medicine.I benefited immensely from the Foundation studies.

Page 28: Victoria University of Wellington

I joined the Victoria International Leadership Programme in the first semester of my degree and that is one decision of which I am really proud. It was supposed to be an extracurricular activity but it turned out to be much more than that – it was a completely new experience. by the first month in VILP, I started taking part in seminars which improved my way of thinking not just academically but also emotionally.

It is also through the VILP that I discovered Vic Oe. I went on a student exchange to hong Kong for a semester with the help of Vic Oe and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

When I decided to study overseas, New Zealand and Victoria University were the first on my list. New Zealand is renowned for being a beautiful country with friendly people, and Victoria is internationally recognised as a tertiary institution focused on academic excellence.

I have completed a bCA, the honours programme and have started a PhD in human resource management. I expect my degrees from Victoria, an institution with a world-class research record, will open up new international career opportunities for me.

my time here has been very enjoyable and valuable. I have received a quality education, achieved academic successes, been employed as a tutor and made great friends. Wellington has a lively, cheerful vibe, you can’t beat this wonderful city on a sunny day - it is paradise.

I chose to study Landscape Architecture at Victoria because I wanted to learn in a young country filled with aspirations and diversity. There is no doubt that I’m learning from the best – Wellington is the arts and cultural capital of New Zealand.

I enjoy living in a pedestrian city, where everything is close – lots of galleries, cafés and streets filled with creativity and my favourite botanical garden.

People are friendly, the coffee is great, and the city has parks and interesting public spaces all around and a safe and fun nightlife.

Design studio classes are guided by experienced tutors who make you love what you’re doing. studying design doesn’t mean being a bookworm, as the city itself is a literature – a canvas full of exciting and inspirational designs, a reward after a week of working hard!

Page 46: Victoria University of Wellington

I came to Victoria for two reasons. Firstly, because New Zealand – as a leader in the treatment of indigenous issues – has deeply developed study of the Treaty of Waitangi.

I lived in rapa Nui for seven years and my interest as a lawyer is to study the analogous Chilean case, the Act of Annexation of 1888. secondly, because I have always wanted to live in an english-speaking country. New Zealand gathered all these features!

Victoria is simply perfect. It has everything available for you, computers, facilities, people always striving to make you feel comfortable.

New Zealand is a peaceful country with a high level educational standard and lovely, friendly people. I highly recommend those with families to study at Victoria University.

I came to New Zealand on scholarship from the ministry of higher education in Oman in 2005. The Foundation studies Programme could not have been a better start. I was honoured and pleased to win the Foundation scholarship for 2006. It was an appreciated reward and a huge encouragement to work even harder for the coming phase, especially as I was planning to go into a challenging field and study Law.

I enjoyed studying the five non-law papers in my first year at uni, which included International relations, media and religious studies. They were a good introduction to what uni life was like.

The first year of Law was challenging as the grades I got would determine whether I got into second-year Law. I’m currently in my fourth year, and although I’m getting familiar with the requirements and style, the workload is not getting any less.

It has been a very fruitful experience. I’ve improved a lot academically and I also feel that I’ve matured socially. I am looking forward to my graduation in the first semester next year hopefully.

I will make the most of my experience of living in New Zealand, and studying Law at Victoria, by putting what I’ve studied and learnt into practice in Oman.

New Zealand is simply perfect – it is not too far from malaysia; it has a high standard of living, good security and low cost of living, as well as spectacular scenery. The peaceful and clean environment makes it a perfect place for me to further my studies.

science at Victoria is extremely enjoyable and challenging for me. I’ve started honours and am thrilled to have the chance to learn and improve my skills in Vic’s well-equipped labs. I’ve learnt a great deal from the very friendly and helpful lecturers here.

I’ve also benefited from the facilities and services that Vic provides, such as the student recreation Centre, Accommodation services, student Learning support and student health. besides receiving quality education, I also get to experience a new lifestyle and culture; make new friends and enrich my working experience.

In a nutshell, Victoria is an ideal place for me to learn and enjoy as well as to challenge myself to greater heights and achievements.

I chose Victoria because of the unique golf study Abroad programme that they offer.

To me, using molecular biology to study and protect New Zealand’s bountiful coastline is a job as sacred as anything in medicine.

halls of residence offer the opportunity to live in a community of students from New Zealand and around the world.

There is a variety of halls of residence available for international students. The majority are self-catered but there are halls that provide meals for students in their first and second year at university. While prices vary, we recommend that you budget at least NZ$350 a week for accommodation including food and other expenses.

Te Puni Village, one of Victoria’s newest halls of residence, is home to over 300 students, and boasts spectacular views over Wellington city and harbour.
