The word Love brings about different feelings and emotions within each of us. Let me challenge you to put aside everything else and consider only this: GOD is Love.

This is one truth that Drs. David and Sunisha Henry, along with their sons Daniel and Dennis, believe and show others every day in their homeland of India. They have made the choice to live by the words of I John 3:18 - “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” Their choice to love like Christ is a daily challenge where faith can lead to persecution.

The Henrys realize that growing God’s kingdom begins with a relationship where needs are met, trust is established, and the gospel is shared. In a culture where tradition and a caste system place limitations on its people, the Henrys seek opportunities to serve the “least of [their] brethren” as Christ commanded in Matthew.

I have had the privilege of knowing the Henrys for over a decade. What they have accomplished with the grace of our Lord is amazing!

• Hospitals in the city of Balispur and the village of Ginyari.

• Youth hostel housing over 80 and high school educating over 200 students.

• Feeding programs that teach production of healthy crops and livestock.

• Vocational training for young females in slum areas. • Training young men from villages to operate

tractors.

They are always looking for ways to reach more souls for Christ. They travel into remote villages to provide medical care. By first meeting physical needs, the Henrys are able to share that our heavenly Father has made their work possible. The seeds which the Henrys plant, the Lord allows to grow.

They now have 7 growing church communities. The Henrys require the community to provide the land and the hands to build the church. In addition to discipleship and educational training, they work with the churches to become self-supporting, and the building up of leaders within each congregation is expected. Youth and family conferences are also held each year so that fellow believers from the different churches can grow in the Word while providing accountability, encouragement, and support for one another.

2015 promises to be life-changing for more of our brothers and sisters in India because the VEF will be

World-wide Church P lanting in 2015ICOM in Richmond Sparks Church Plants Around The WorldThree years ago, the International Conference on Missions (ICOM) approached the Virginia Evangelizing Fellowship, asking us to be the hosts of ICOM in Richmond, Virginia in 2015. This is a huge opportunity for area churches to minister to missionaries from around the world and show our support for global church growth. The ICOM Virginia Team is facilitating a lasting impact for the 2015 Conference. Since the theme of the Conference is church planting, we are planting seven churches on six continents around the globe!

The Henrys have planted several churches all around Chattisgrah, India.

Bring your Youth to ICOM in Richmond! ICOM is a young convention! If you’ve ever attended ICOM, you can attest to the energy created by thousands of teens, college students and children at the event.

The programming for teens is their own convention called SICOM (Student International Conference on Missions) for High School and Middle School students. SICOM begins Friday night and runs thru Sunday morning, October 30-No-vember 1, 2015, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center adjacent to the adult conference.

Your teens will experience:• High energy main sessions just for teens• All-access to the 550 ICOM exhibits to

see what God is up to around the globe.• Hands-on service activities, like meal

packing and wall-building• Meeting youth from all over the country• Much, much more!

Check out SICOM on the ICOM website (www.theicom.org) to register your teens and book your hotel rooms early. They’ll fill up quickly!

There’s also great programming for children from birth through elementary allowing parents to enjoy the main ses-sions and workshops while their kids have a blast in a secure, age-graded environment.

So, bring your whole family to Richmond. There’s something for everyone!

A benefit concert by local musicians is being staged on Sunday, April 26th at 7:00PM at the West Waynesboro Church of Christ (2212 Cortland Street, Waynesboro, VA). A love offering will be collected to benefit the sev-en VEF international church plants as a result of ICOM coming to Virginia in October. Contact the church at (540) 949-8670 for more details.

What creative strategy might your church use to help raise additional funds to make a Kingdom impact all around the globe through these ICOM church plants? Garage sale? VBS offering? Let us know how we can give your church all the info to make your event successful.

The VEF’s next new church is set to launch in Harrisonburg on March 1st. Renaissance Church takes its name from the city’s downtown revitaliza-tion campaign which has transformed Harrisonburg into an exciting place to live and work.

Renaissance Church is led by Jonathan Goss and the team he’s gathering to launch this new work. Jona-than and his wife, Susan, a nurse, have been married for 20 years and have three great kids, Meredith (14), Caleb (12), and Jenna (8).

partnering with the Henrys through ICOM to plant a church in the town of Chattisgarh. Because of the prayers and sacrificial giving of so many, the VEF and their mission partners are able to bring the gospel to places that have never been reached.

Let us remember: Faith, Hope & Love... the greatest of these is Love.

The Henrys are always looking for those who would like to partner with them in prayer, visit them in their work, or just want to be blessed by hearing what God is doing in India. Want to be involved? Contact Fairmount Christian Church or Sam Massey through HEART Ministries. The Henrys will also be attending ICOM in Richmond this fall.

Discovery builds in bristol New Venture’s succession planDiscovery Church launched in September of 2011 in the downtown YMCA in Bristol, TN. 265 were in attendance on opening day. Their ministry center was on the Virginia side of State Street that runs through the center of town.

With rapid growth, the new church soon outgrew the YMCA, even with two morning services. The tight quarters prompted the purchase of 80 prime acres of property adjacent to the Bristol Speedway that includes a house currently being used for staff offices. The sharply reduced price of the property was seen as Providential confirmation.

Groundbreaking for their building was celebrated in June and construction got underway. Discovery is on track to open their new building on or around Easter of this year. The first phase of the building features a 600 seat auditorium, a guest-friendly cafe and lobby, children’s and youth wings, and a parking lot specially designed to host car and RV parking for the two big NASCAR races each year.

VEF Church Plant, New Venture Christian Church (Midlothian), has announced their succession plan for a new lead minister.

New Venture Church launched in the Carmike Cinemas in October of 2004 with 320 in attendance. Since that time they have also met in a nearby Middle School and at a 7th Day Adventist Church. Planter Steve Thornton has led the church through each of these transitions.

Steve is now leading the church through another time of major transition as they prepare to re-launch in the newly renovated Carmike Cinemas where they originally launched and as they integrate a new leader, Chris Garrett, who came on staff at the beginning of the year.

Chris Garrett came to faith as an adult at another VEF church plant, Forefront Christian Church, in Virginia Beach. Since graduating from Mid-Atlantic University in 2005, Chris has served in the areas of discipleship, small groups and community involvement at The Creek, a Christian Church of 4500, in Indianapolis.

Chris and Steve will serve together for the rest of 2015 in a leadership transition process. New Venture has already warmly welcomed Chris and his wife, Shelley, with their two daughters, Taylor, a freshman at Johnson University, and Caroline.

New Venture’s strategic plan to smoothly hand the mantle of leadership from one leader to the next serves as a great example for many churches. For more information on how they designed and executed this plan, contact [email protected].

by Dan Pollard, Executive Pastor, Forefront Church

In January, Forefront Christian Church in Virginia Beach added a 5 pm worship service identical to their two morning services. After purchasing and refurbishing a church building in July, Forefront opened in September with two morning services. After consultation with Christian Financial Resources and a congregational survey, Forefront added the 5 pm service due to growing attendance, especially in the children’s area.

While the third service has the lightest attendance, it has proven to be a popular choice for:

• Adults who work on Sunday mornings,

• Families with middle and high school students who attend programming on Sunday evenings

• Families with smaller children who were asked to attend in the evening to create space in the morning services.

Lessons have been learned: Lighting was added to the outside of the building to ensure that the walkways to the children’s portables were brightly lit and secure. Counting procedures were altered to include the additional offering. More volunteers were added to provide full staffing for the children’s area.

Implementing Evening worship service

Members of Discovery gather in their new space to pray for the lives that will be changed as a result of the new construction.

VEF hires Neil Wheeler to serve church LeadersIn January, the VEF Board of Directors hired Neil Wheeler to oversee and expand the VEF’s Fusion Group program along with making consistent connections with churches and leaders around the commonwealth. Neil was the VEF’s most recent board president and has also served multi-ple terms as director and member of the original Virginia Vision Church Planting Taskforce. He will now serve as the VEF’s part-time Director of Leader Care.

Neil, a native of Salem, VA and Johnson University graduate, led Chester Christian Church for 34 years. During that time, he was also a Chaplain in the police department for 15 years.

Neil is known for his passion for prayer and his pastor’s heart. The Board of Directors couldn’t envision a Virginian better suited to join the VEF team to help accomplish the mission to “Pursue Kingdom Growth.” You can contact Neil at 804-895-0485 or [email protected].

QuarterlyHarry Gill Retires after 8+ Years Serving Virginia ChurchesIn January, Harry Gill was honored at the VEF Board of Directors Retreat upon his retirement after 8 years of service to churches and preachers around the Commonwealth. As you can imagine, much laughter and many stories summarized his time as the Director of Church Resources.

During his tenure with the VEF, Harry was instrumental in developing two critical programs that significantly changed the scope of service the VEF provides to preachers as they lead their churches. The VEF’s Fusion Groups provide a peer-learning environment that challenges preachers to continually develop their ministry skills in an ever changing culture. Also, a team of trained and certified Ministry Coaches provide a one-to-one coaching relationship that helps ministers become more effective in their leadership positions.

Harry also served as the interim minister for congregations in Waynesboro, Smithfield and Bumpass while with the VEF. His wisdom and advice during the hiring process coupled with his solid Biblical preaching each week helped stabilize these churches during their time of transition.

Harry will be missed not only for his sense of humor and wisdom he has for preachers but for the contagious joy he brings to ministry. Thanks, Harry, you’re an inspiration to us all!
