Clearly visible positionindicators:LEDs indicate current positionand switching status as well asmarkings located on the targetpuck.

Robust housing:IND type sensors incorporate twodistinct inductive elements in ahousing sealed to IP 67. Thetough housing will also with-stand impacts allowing their usein any application.

Compatible withVDI / VDE 3845:All IND sensors are compatiblewith VDI / VDE 3845 guidelinesmeaning they are simple to fitto nearly any actuator.

Connection opportunities:Versions with integrated AS-ichips allow simple addition toAS-i networks, M12 cabledversions and units with aterminal chamber mean thatifm’s INDs are the simplestchoice for valve control.

Dual sensor IND type

Unit with terminal chamber:Two captive screws above the cablegland enable easy opening and closingof the terminal chamber. The wiring can be maintained if thesensor is replaced, thanks to theremovable terminal block. As an option, a solenoid valve can betriggered.

IND units combinetwo distinct induc-tive proximity sen-sors in a single, double insulated, IP67 housing. Onesensor provides a si-gnal when the valveis open, the otherwhen it is closed. The units are invalu-able for confirmingthat power-opera-ted

and manual valvesare in the appro-priate position forcorrect and safeoperation in alltypes of processplant.

VDI / VDE 3845 is aguideline which de-fines, amongst otherthings, the mechani-cal mount-

ing arrangementsfor fitting switchboxes to actuators. The IND units havebeen specifically de-signed to conformto and take advan-tage of this guide-line, allow-ing them to befitted to the major-ity of actuators withthe minimum of ef-fort.

By using state-of-the-art productiontechnologies it has become possible toincorporate the latest AS-i technologywith sensors and switching outputs ina space-saving housing. All these features facilitate mounting,set-up and maintenance for the userand increase uptime of the wholeAS-Interface system.

Namur IND units used with quarter-turn valves installed on an oil tanker.Sensors with ATEX Cat. 1D/1G/2G werechosen because of the installationinside an explosive area.

Many accessories are available including targetpucks for most valve actuators. The selectorfacilitates the selection of pucks for differentquarter-turn actuators.www.ifm.com/gb/puck-selector

AS-i integrated:AS-Interface from ifm is the idealway to communicate feedbackfrom multiple valves and is incor-porated, as standard, in theefector valvis.

Freely programmable:With 3 switching outputs, theefector valvis gives reliable indication of the valve piston’sposition: open, closed or seat lift.

Simple set up:Uncomplicated programming bypushing a button replacesmechanical adjustment to therespective valve positions.

Adapters:Rising stem valves differ ofcourse, so a range of adapters formany valve types, for exampleAlfa Laval, Südmo, GEMÜ andGeorg Fischer, are available.

Requirement:

Everywhere in thefood industry valves are used forshutting off, moni-toring and control-ling. They are deci-sive components forthe safety, accuracyand reliabil-ity of plants.

Implementation:

Conventionally, ma-gnetic or induc- tiveproximity switches assume thistask. They signal end stopssuch as ”open” or”closed” to the con-troller by means of aswitch-ed signal.

Feedback systemefector valvis IX type

Easy position setup due to freelyprogrammable switching outputs. They transmit the actual limits oftravel to the controller.

However, the detec-tion of intermediatepositions is of in-creasing inter- est. Itallows the detectionof cleaning cyclesfor rising stem val-ves as well as thevisualisation of unin-tended operat-ing states by meansof contin-uous valve detec-tion. This is the onlyway to meet thegrowingrequirements of mo-dern processvisualisation.

Product information efector valviswww.ifm.com/gb/valvis

Continuous position feedback on single, double seat and diaphragm valves.

With thanks to different adapters, efector valvis can be mounted onvarious valve types. In this case it isinstalled on an ON-OFF diaphragmvalve. I.e. two switching points haveto be set up. By missing the “Seat”position out, the sensor realises thatonly two switching points are needed.

efector valvis was designed forfeedback of the valve positions onrising stem valves with a stroke of upto 80 mm. The sensor is fitted overthe valve spindle and continuouslymeasures the stroke. This shows aninstallation on double seat valves, allthree switching points are used.

Robust:Tried and tested for extremerequirements in hygienic andwet areas such as permanentlyhigh temperatures, temperatureshocks or aggressive cleaningagents.

Food-grade:Housing materials such asstainless steel in combinationwith PEEK or pure stainlesssteel sensors.

Flexible:Common housing types andlengths for installation in differ-ent applications. Increasedsensing ranges ensure flexibleinstallation for mechanicaltolerances.

Ingress-resistant:The ingress resistance toprotection rating IP 69K preventsmoisture penetration.

Safe connection:ecolink EVT – the ideal connectorfor hygienic and wet areas:PVC cables and housings plusstainless steel coupling nutsprovide protection to IP 69K.

Inductive sensorsIF, IG, II and IS type

Position feedback onrising stem valves orinside switchboxes.

The sensors undergo a hard test pro-gram of temperature cycle, steamboiler, vibration, shock and temperatureThis procedure guarantees the highestoperational reliability for anyconditons in the food industry.

The common valve boxes can be usedwith the square-shaped sensors oftype IS.Customer-specific versions suchas platinum connectors facilitateinstallation.
