An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an individual to become a Clinical Nurse Manager within the NHS Fife Planned Care Directorate. The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for Endoscopy, Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery working across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse with management experience looking to take the next step in their career progression.You will become part of a motivated and innovative directorate management team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for developing nursing teams, embedding required change in quality and patient safety. You will have a proven track record in leadership, a strong clinical background enabling teams to delivery high quality, safe and effective patient care.

What is the programme?

Being a health visitor offers an excellent opportunity to make a valuable contribution to supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people.  NHS Fife are offering sponsored places on the Postgraduate Diploma Person Centred Practice (Health Visiting). Successful completion of this programme will enable you to register on the specialist part of the NMC register which is essential to being a health visitor. Applications are invited from nurses/midwives who wish to be considered to undertake this programme on a full-time basis only.   To be considered you must meet the QMU academic requirements as well as the professional entry requirements for the programme. In conjunction with the SE NHS Research Scotland Cancer Research Network, NHS Fife Research & Development Department is seeking to employ a Research Nurse to increase patient recruitment into generic and oncology research studies in Fife. We are looking to recruit this senior research nurse for an exciting and challenging post based within the R&D Department.

As a member of the NHS Fife R&D Team the post-holder will support investigators to undertake a range of commercial and non-commercial research, including studies within the area of Oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible for various aspects of study management including helping with study approvals, set up, patient recruitment, and providing excellent clinical care, education, support and monitoring of those participants enrolled.

Additionally, as the post–holder you will be involved with accurate and confidential data collection, liaising with national trial centres and study monitors. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary teams in the management of your own caseload of research patients and studies.

The post would be ideally suited to an experienced, enthusiastic nurse with excellent organisational and IT skills. Either extensive previous clinical experience or clinical trials work experience is essential for this Band 6 role, as is the ability to manage a number of concurrent projects.

Consideration may be given to registered nurses with limited / no research experience - provided they demonstrate a genuine interest in moving into clinical research and possess a strong desire to learn this new specialty. In this situation, applicants will be required to have extensive clinical knowledge (preferably in oncology) and NHS experience.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of research principles (including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues), and an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice.

Attention to detail and strong communication skills are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS Fife is essential.

RESPIRATORY NURSE SPECIALIST REF NO: HH457/09/17EBLSALARY: £26,830 - £35,933 BAND 6 - HOURS: 37.5

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a nurse with a genuine interest in respiratory care to join our small friendly Respiratory Specialist Nursing team. The service is currently being redesigned to meet the needs of todays respiratory patients and optimise the service we deliver. You will be need to have a good level of knowledge and relevant experience in caring for patients with respiratory disease and must be keen to develop.

The specialist team cover hospital and community as well as running clinics, carrying out assessments managing all Fife patients on home oxygen. It is expected all members of the team will eventually assist with thoracoscopy, initiation of non invasive ventilation and outpatient services.

We are seeking a Health Protection Nurse to work within the Health Protection Team. You will be based in the Department of Public Health at Cameron House and work closely with Health Protection Nurse Specialists and Consultants in Public Health Medicine.

You must be on the General Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse parts of the NMC Register, have a relevant first level degree/post-registration qualification and be able to demonstrate evidence of further professional development. You must be willing to undergo further training to advance your skills and knowledge.

You must have extensive post-registration experience. Community experience, and practical experience in the field of Public Health Nursing/Infection Control is desirable and experience in communicable disease and TB control would be advantageous.

You must have good analytical, judgemental, communication and computer skills. Being able to travel efficiently throughout Fife, and work autonomously and in a team are essential. You should be self-motivated and innovative.

HOMELESS PATIENTS ADVICE WORKER

Exciting Secondment Opportunity

If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on NHS

Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. A vacancy has arisen with the Endoscopy Booking Unit, Day Intervention, for a Clerical Officer. You will work as part of a team within a very busy department with multiple daily priorities, which includes booking appointments, processing a large number of referrals daily, phone calls, reception, clinic preparation and other daily office duties.

The department mainly comprises of Endoscopy Booking, including Bowel Screening, Suspect Cancer referrals and also a Surveillance recall waiting list for the Fife population. The department also has administration and reception input for Day Surgery, Planned Intervention Day Unit (PIDU) and Surgical Elective Admission Lounge (S.E.A.L) units.

This post will focus mainly on the clinic preparation aspect of the department, which involves locating, tracking and preparing medical case note files in advance of Endoscopy clinics. As well as other general office duties associated with the department.

You should be educated to Standard Grade or equivalent. Previous experience within a hospital records department is required. You must be able to demonstrate good organisational, listening and problem solving skills. You should have a flexible approach to work and be able to work in various sections as required, with the ability to prioritise and deal with the day to day workload in a busy environment. You should also be able to demonstrate ability to work with others to promote good practice and achieve team objectives.

Candidates must be able to lift and handle quantities of casenote folders, and to bend and stretch to retrieve and file case notes, and to load/unload and navigate case note trolleys.

This consultant post is based in North East Fife and will provide a comprehensive General Adult Psychiatry Service in the area.

The service includes inpatient beds in Lomond Ward, Stratheden Hospital with Outpatient Clinics held in St. Andrews Community Hospital and the East Neuk of Fife and various sites within the area. In Fife there is a consultant body of approximately 30 consultants meeting regularly at the Division of Psychiatry, with Specialists in Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Learning Disabilities, CAMHS, Substance misuse and Eating Disorders. On call commitment for out of hours is shared between all Consultants, with the exception of CAMHS Consultants.

You will be supported by Junior Medical Staff from the South East Scotland rotational training scheme or General Practitioner Specialist Training Scheme and will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. All Junior Medical Staff Posts in Fife are fully accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

You should be a fully registered Medical Practitioner and must possess MRC Psych or equivalent qualification and the appropriate CCST (or be eligible for such inclusion within 6 months of the interview date). NHS Fife has a number of Family Friendly Policies.

We are looking for 2 additional Consultant Paediatricians to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to children and their families. These are full-time substantive appointments with clinical and managerial responsibilities primarily based in the Community Child Health (CCH).

You will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment to the acute paediatric rota. A separate neonatal rota is in place

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

EXCITING SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health

outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on

NHS Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project will employ 2 staff and be run from Victoria NHS Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. There will be close partnership working with hospital staff to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project will be evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who will work alongside the staff team in identifying outcomes and learning.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. Applications are thus being sought from staff in Fife Council Housing Services and NHS Fife who are interested in being seconded to staff the project. Key skills required include: needs assessment; experience of casework or care/support planning & delivery; experience of collaborative working. A significant programme of staff training and development will be a feature of this project.
