An exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse has arisen to join our Fife Women and Children’s Team. You will have clinical managerial and leadership responsibility for the Tier 3 Neonatal Services in Fife together with the Paediatric Ward including Ambulatory care, Short Stay Assessment Area and HDU. This post also manages the Specialist Nursing teams and Paediatric Outpatients across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites.

Children’s Services need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the children and families in our care. To influence and lead these changes you should be able demonstrate the ability to be innovative in your approach to the challenges of adapting care to meet the needs of the population of Fife together with Local and National directives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for innovative individuals to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within the Emergency Care Directorate. We have two positions available, Cardiology and Gastroenterology.

The ANP will play an integral role in the management and delivery of patient care within the Emergency Care Directorate. We are looking for experienced ANP’s who, acting within their professional boundaries will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care for patients.

The ANP will also have a responsibility to teach, supervise, assess and mentor, and to plan, prioritise and delegate work to other staff members. In addition to the traditional ANP roles and responsibilities, there will be an added teaching component and a direct link with the Medical Education Team.

These posts are full time, 37.5 hours per week, predominantly worked over a five day week, Monday to Friday.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced ANPs who already possess non-medical prescribing and clinical decision making qualifications. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post. You should have extensive experience of working directly with children, young people and their families within a child protection context as well as a sound knowledge of child protection research, guidance, legislation and policies. You should have a high level of communication, organisational and leadership skills and have the ability to work within a team, with partner agencies and on your own initiative.

If successful your key tasks include offering high level support and advice to Health staff; be actively involved in multi-agency Initial Referral Discussions; deliver specialist child protection training to health staff and contribute to the delivery of multi-agency training. You should have a commitment to acute medicine of the elderly, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. You will have 24 hour responsibility for the ward, providing clinical leadership, managing the nursing team and having a pivotal role in driving forward models of care. You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. You must have a minimum post registration experience at charge nurse level within an acute clinical setting and be able to demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice development through experience and theoretical knowledge, with management and leadership experience. This project aims to spread the learning from our phase 1 project in provision of Best Supportive Care to other cancer and non cancer groups. This post will be offered on a seconded basis for a period of 12 months. This project works across acute and community settings and you will work as part of the specialist palliative care nursing team. An exciting opportunity has become available for a senior registered nurse to become a second stroke specialist nurse working as part of the stroke team based on the Stroke Unit, Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. You must be keen to enhance and develop your experience and clinical skills working with patients and carers following acute Transient Ischaemic Attack and Stroke. You should have a commitment to stroke medicine, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. You will be expected to work independently providing specialist nursing input, support and information to both inpatients and also in an outpatient setting. Key to this role is identification, triage, assessment and management of stroke or TIA patients including involvement in thrombolysis, as part of the acute stroke team. The role includes audit and ensuring standards relating to stroke care are achieved working closely with members of the stroke unit.You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of the organisation's objectives.

You should have significant post registration experience, including relevant experience working within stroke care and be able to demonstrate good clinical and professional practice development through experience and theoretical knowledge. You will be based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital, and provide mental health nurse liaison service to older adult in-patients with mental health issues in acute wards in the local general hospital. You will work closely with the Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist.

You must be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience of working with older adults in a range of mental health settings. It is essential that you have good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and organisation and time management skills. You will provide assessment and advice on the management of mental health problems to colleagues in the acute setting. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of continuous professional development and able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of physical disorders on mental health. You should have recent, acute ward or critical care experience. A genuine interest in critical care is essential and experience within critical care would be an advantage although a comprehensive orientation will be given.This post will be based within ICU Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy however flexibility is essential as the successful candidate will be required to work in Surgical High Dependency Unit and Medical High Dependency Unit if required.The shift pattern is 12.5hrs and requires day / night rotation and weekend work.

ICU Victoria Hospital admits 430 patients a year who require organ support, this support frequently includes Renal support.

The department provides a comprehensive pathology service to Fife (population 360,000). The department has undergone comprehensive refurbishment and expansion in order to relocate Cytology and Histopathology onto a single site. Concomitantly a new mortuary has been constructed to support the relocation of all acute activity at the Victoria site. The Victoria hospital has undergone considerable expansion by a PFI project whose capital requirement is in excess of £170 m with the new hospital having opened in January 2012. The department has a large and varied workload with an annual throughput of 24,000 surgical specimens, 26,000 gynae cytology, 1,400 diagnostic cytology specimens and 200 necropsies.

This is a replacement post. The successful candidate will join a team of 7 other NHS Consultants. The role includes reporting all aspects of histopathology with the scope to develop an area of special interest. Participation in the autopsy service and diagnostic/cervical cytology service would be desirable.

You should hold the FRCPath or equivalent qualification. We are looking for a replacement Consultant Neonatologist to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to babies and their families.

You will join a close-knit team of neonatologists, who with the general paediatricians, work across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment.

We are a level 3 neonatal unit based in the Victoria Hospital with six ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots with the unit admitting around 450 infants per year. The birth rate in NHS Fife is approximately 3500 per year. We are part of the SE Scotland neonatal Managed Clinical Network. Badgernet has been in operation in the unit for the past 4 years and the maternity system recently started in August 2016. The unit delivers therapeutic hypothermia, HFOV and inhaled nitric oxide therapies and cares for infants of any gestation. Only surgical and cardiac neonates are routinely transferred elsewhere for treatment. We have regularly run Newborn Life Support courses for all new nurses and medical staff since 2003.

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patient services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

Applications are invited for this substantive full time post as Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry of Learning Disability (adults). The successful candidate will provide input within the NHS Fife Learning Disability Service. The post is based at Lynebank Hospital in Dunfermline and involves responsibility for general and forensic Learning Disability inpatient and Community Services.

Input to inpatient services will include provision to a state of the art Regional Low Secure Forensic Learning Disability Unit (Daleview) and a semi-secure forensic Learning Disability Unit (Levendale). There are also inpatient services in the form of a general Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment Unit (Mayfield) and small specialist forensic and challenging behaviour unit (Tayview). Input to the general Learning Disability community service will be in the East Fife area. Further details are given in the job description.

Specialist Learning Disability Services across the South East of Scotland are part of a Managed Care Network covering Lothian, Fife, Forth Valley and Borders Health Board areas under the auspices of the South East and Tayside Planning Forum. Learning Disability Services in all areas are community based with support from a small number of inpatient assessment and treatment beds.

You will assist in delivering high quality medicine to the adult population of Fife; working as part of the existing Acute Medical and Specialty Medical teams. The post will be based within the Acute Medical unit and the Acute Geriatric assessment wards, with the option of working within other specialty wards. There is a full commitment to the acute medical rota (nights, weekends and long days at least FY2 level).

Although this post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training the successful applicant will be provided with the same educational opportunities as the trainees in the department.

The post will be based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and is available from 7 th

February 2018 until 1st August 2018.

Muiredge surgery is a well-established practice situated on the Fife coast, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirkcaldy and approximately 30-35 minutes’ drive from Dundee and Edinburgh.
