An exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse has arisen to join our Fife Women and Children’s Team. You will have clinical managerial and leadership responsibility for the Tier 3 Neonatal Services in Fife together with the Paediatric Ward including Ambulatory care, Short Stay Assessment Area and HDU. This post also manages the Specialist Nursing teams and Paediatric Outpatients across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites.

Children’s Services need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the children and families in our care. To influence and lead these changes you should be able demonstrate the ability to be innovative in your approach to the challenges of adapting care to meet the needs of the population of Fife together with Local and National directives.

The provision of person centred, safe and effective care must be central to the function of this post along with excellent leadership skills.

Significant experience at band 7 is required, with considerable clinical experience essential. Excellent communication skills, team working and the ability to use your own initiative are integral components of this post.

Using specialist knowledge and skills, you will assess, plan and implement diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions in complex, urgent or emergency situations.The nurse practitioner also takes and triages telephone referral from GP’s to decide on appropriate patient pathways, using clinical judgement. You will have or be working towards a formal clinical decision making qualification and be willing to undertake a non medical prescribing course.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for innovative individuals to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within the Emergency Care Directorate. We have two positions available, Cardiology and Gastroenterology.

The ANP will play an integral role in the management and delivery of patient care within the Emergency Care Directorate. We are looking for experienced ANP’s who, acting within their professional boundaries will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care for patients.

The ANP will also have a responsibility to teach, supervise, assess and mentor, and to plan, prioritise and delegate work to other staff members. In addition to the traditional ANP roles and responsibilities, there will be an added teaching component and a direct link with the Medical Education Team.

These posts are full time, 37.5 hours per week, predominantly worked over a five day week, Monday to Friday.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced ANPs who already possess non-medical prescribing and clinical decision making qualifications. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post. This includes the completion of relevant postgraduate courses to masters degree level, or working towards master degree level or ability to demonstrate working at masters degree level appropriate to clinical area.

You should have extensive experience of working directly with children, young people and their families within a child protection context as well as a sound knowledge of child protection research, guidance, legislation and policies. You should have a high level of communication, organisational and leadership skills and have the ability to work within a team, with partner agencies and on your own initiative.

If successful your key tasks include offering high level support and advice to Health staff; be actively involved in multi-agency Initial Referral Discussions; deliver specialist child protection training to health staff and contribute to the delivery of multi-agency training. Another core task is the coordination and facilitation of group and case specific child protection clinical supervision within a variety of settings across NHS Fife delivered to a range of health-care professionals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for a senior registered nurse who is keen to enhance and develop their management and clinical skills in a Senior Charge Nurse position.

You should have a commitment to acute medicine of the elderly, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. You will have 24 hour responsibility for the ward, providing clinical leadership, managing the nursing team and having a pivotal role in driving forward models of care. You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. You must have a minimum post registration experience at charge nurse level within an acute clinical setting and be able to demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice development through experience and theoretical knowledge, with management and leadership experience. You must understand the complexities of caring for individuals with acute and chronic medical illnesses.

This post is full time, 37.5 hour per week predominantly worked over 5 weekdays with occasional weekend working to cover the duty charge nurse rota.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, dynamic and self motivated. Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous. Candidates with experience or an interest in delivering patient centred care to patients with dementia would also be an advantage. An exciting opportunity has arisen in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for band 5 Registered Nurses to support, as part of the multidisciplinary team, the delivery of new models of care within 2 busy acute wards.

Ward 41 will open in early January 2018, initially until end of March 2018, caring for patients who require more complex discharge planning. The ward model will be supported by ‘Daily Dynamic Discharge’ methodology which has been developed by Scottish Government.

From early December 2017, ward 12 will increase bed numbers on a permanent basis from 16 to 23 beds and will continue to develop and embed the ‘Daily Dynamic Discharge’ methodology which it has recently introduced.

We require motivated Registered Nurses who are committed to multidisciplinary team working. As part of the multidisciplinary teams you will ensure the delivery of person-centred care and you will work closely with the Discharge Hub and other Health and Social Care colleagues to proactively manage the inpatient journey and discharge patients with appropriate support.

You should be able to work using your own initiative and have an active interest in mentoring students and junior staff. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable but training can be provided. Good communication skills are essential.

This post would suit pharmacists with experience of hospital, primary care or community pharmacy with considerable clinical experience and who have supervised or trained other staff.

You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

It is essential that you have either: a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy/ prescribing sciences or be an independent prescriber. You will be expected to have completed both the diploma and independent prescribing qualification within an agreed timescale, as well undertaking clinical assessment skills and consultations skills training.

You will possess excellent organisational skills and will function as a key member of the NHS Fife Specialist Mental Health Service.

You will also be involved in education and training of other professionals and facilitating the implementation of local and national guidelines. You will also have involvement in our local multidisciplinary patient safety initiatives. You should have a sound clinical knowledge and a commitment to high standards of pharmaceutical care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be a registered pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy. Experience of working in more than one of these areas would be advantageous. It would be desirable to have previous experience of working within a mental health environment. This may be an opportunity to gain experience of delivering services within a richly rewarding specialist clinical area. The work will be based in the Fife ‘Veterans First Point’ (V1P) service, which was established in 2015. This is a Fife wide service, providing a central ‘one stop shop’ approach for veterans from our admin base in Cardenden, community “drop ins” in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy, and clinics in various parts of Fife. The holistic V1P model provides a range of social and mental health support to veterans. You will have responsibility for providing psychological therapies to Veterans. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work and partnership work with other agencies. You will also contribute to service development, supervision, research and co-ordination of V1P. Personal experience of the military community and/or experience of working with veterans is desirable. Health Promotion Fife is looking for a Stop Smoking Advisor to help support the delivery of the H&SC Partnership’s Smoking Cessation Local Delivery Plan Target for 2017/18 and beyond.

The Stop Smoking Service contributes towards improving the health of the local population in line with national and local stop smoking strategies and policy.

You will work closely with the Tobacco Co-ordinator in the delivery of targeted stop smoking interventions, use community engagement approaches, undertake awareness raising initiatives and to support referral opportunities to the Stop Smoking Service.

You will have particular responsibility for:• Delivery of evidence based stop smoking interventions across Fife, ensuring

that the work targets people/families living in deprived circumstances and specific groups in a range of settings for example communities, primary care, workplaces etc

• Increasing engagement at community level within the most deprived communities and inequalities groups

• Undertaking client assessments make appropriate pharmacotherapy decisions, ongoing client support and undertake 4 and 12 week follow-ups.

The department provides a comprehensive pathology service to Fife (population 360,000). The department has undergone comprehensive refurbishment and expansion in order to relocate Cytology and Histopathology onto a single site. Concomitantly a new mortuary has been constructed to support the relocation of all acute activity at the Victoria site. The Victoria hospital has undergone considerable expansion by a PFI project whose capital requirement is in excess of £170 m with the new hospital having opened in January 2012. The department has a large and varied workload with an annual throughput of 24,000 surgical specimens, 26,000 gynae cytology, 1,400 diagnostic cytology specimens and 200 necropsies.

This is a replacement post. The successful candidate will join a team of 7 other NHS Consultants. The role includes reporting all aspects of histopathology with the scope to develop an area of special interest. Participation in the autopsy service and diagnostic/cervical cytology service would be desirable.

You should hold the FRCPath or equivalent qualification. Applicants must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) or certificate of eligibility of specialist registration (CP) at the time of interview for the post.

We are looking for a replacement Consultant Neonatologist to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to babies and their families.

You will join a close-knit team of neonatologists, who with the general paediatricians, work across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment.

We are a level 3 neonatal unit based in the Victoria Hospital with six ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots with the unit admitting around 450 infants per year. The birth rate in NHS Fife is approximately 3500 per year. We are part of the SE Scotland neonatal Managed Clinical Network. Badgernet has been in operation in the unit for the past 4 years and the maternity system recently started in August 2016. The unit delivers therapeutic hypothermia, HFOV and inhaled nitric oxide therapies and cares for infants of any gestation. Only surgical and cardiac neonates are routinely transferred elsewhere for treatment. We have regularly run Newborn Life Support courses for all new nurses and medical staff since 2003.

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patient services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

What is Flying Start?The Flying Start NHS® programme is a self-directed, web-based development programme for all newly qualified Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) working within NHS Scotland, who are in their first year of practice.

Flying Start was produced by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) in 2006 and developed in line with research findings that confirmed that a period of preceptorship bridges the theory-practice gap and supports recruitment and retention.

It provides self-directed learning through ten learning units. You select activities most appropriate to your learning needs and area of work. These are:

What are the expectations within NHS Fife for Flying Start?There is an expectation within NHS Fife that staff should complete two thirds the activities as close to the initial twelve month period as possible. The ten learning units correspond with the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). This provides a structure against which the newly qualified practitioner (NQP) can formulate their Personal Development Plan (PDP) and support their progression through the KSF foundation gateway.

What support is available for me?Every individual is responsible for registering on the website, getting started and working through the programme, however:

You will be allocated a mentor, who will offer you support, feedback and guidance during your first year in practice.

The Newly Qualified Practitioner Flying Start ‘Rolling Programme’ is offered throughout NHS Fife by the Practice & Professional Development Department (Nursing and Midwifery Practice Education Facilitators and the AHP Practice Education Lead). These 4 sessions offer you support and guidance about getting started and progression through Flying Start, as well as putting you in touch with other practitioners participating in the programme.

The Practice is based within Kirkcaldy Health Centre and conveniently situated next to Victoria Hospital and Whyteman’s Brae Hospital. Our current list size is approximately 7300. The Practice is paper-light and uses Vision and Docman.

The Practice has 4 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 1 Associate Nurse Partner, 1 Specialist Practice Nurse, 1 Practice Nurse and a hard-working team of 12 admin staff. We pride ourselves on providing excellent patient care at all times and work hard to offer a wide range of services to suit the needs of our patients.

Due to retiral of our Senior Partner, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated GP to join our team. There is the option for this post to be salaried or the option for partnership. Sessions are negotiable but we would ideally like the successful applicant to cover 8 sessions per week. We would hope to support any existing interests that successful applicants may have.

Muiredge Surgery, Buckhaven, Fife

GP – 6 SESSIONS

Muiredge surgery is a well-established practice situated on the Fife coast, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirkcaldy and approximately 30-35 minutes’ drive from Dundee and Edinburgh.

We are looking for an enthusiastic GP to join our friendly team. We have 7,500 patients approx. and 5 FTE GPs. (Currently 5 partners and 2 salaried GPs, all part-time i.e. less than 9 sessions, min 5 sessions, max 8.)

We have 6 sessions to offer, due to the relocation of one of our salaried GPs to a practice nearer home, and would prefer to offer a partnership but are happy to negotiate.

We work from modern purpose built premises and offer: Training and teaching practice, with ample opportunity for personal

development. High QOF achiever in the past. We have maintained our registers and chronic

disease management clinics. EMIS clinical system, paper light practice. In house services such as minor surgery, family planning and child health

services. Innovative triage/clinical team involving our medical and nursing teams. On site district nurses. A wide range of visiting services such as psychiatry for the elderly,
