FIRST ACT

Opening shot is a close-up of the cd player, straight

away this causes a sense of mystery as it leads the

audience questioning who is turning on the music. The

director uses diegetic sound which is a happy , calm beat

that misleads the audience to thinking that it is of a

different genre.

The next two shots include an

aryl shot of a car driving and the

exterior shot of the house. These

two shots are used to highlight

how deserted the place is, notonly is it deserted around the final

destination, but also isolated en

route.

Sound bridge is used to introduce character one through

voice rather than visually. This creates a sense of enigmaas it makes the audience wonder who is this women?

Firstly as all we get to hear is the dialogue she says, I

just want you all to know how much it all means to us that

your all here and then gets introduced visually in order to

match the action.

The next few shots introduce the whole family, through quick cuts of multiple medium

shots is used in order to shows the audience every characters facial expression to

highlight the happy looks on their faces towards there mothers loving speech this once

again helps the dialogue match the action, as the family gather together with a loving,

united atmosphere present between all family members.

A Point of view shot is used, looking at

the photo through the camera screen

once again this reflects on the happyfamily they are, as they all smile laugh

and take pictures together.

Highlighting once again the unity and a

sense of oneness the all have that is

expressed to the viewers.

ACT 2

There is a clear indication to the Next stage of the

trailer as the director has used an exterior shot of

the house, this time in the night time to further

emphasises the isolation. However also makes the

family seem vulnerable as not only are theyisolated, but the fact they are now in darkness

makes the possibility of any bad situations

happening seem inevitable, making the audience

almost expect an attack. Further isolation is

express as the music has changed to become

more eary and screatchy, and acts as a build up to

what is about to happen.

A Medium shot of them all them sitting round the table together once again highlights this

unity they have. This further emphasised by the director cutting it to the next shot being a

Close-up of them all holding hands for the pray to further highlight this love they all have

for each other. Irony is present on this part of the trailer as they pray and thank god for the

happy lives they all share as a family. However is ironic as what is about to happen will

not only destroy the unity of the family, but it is nothing to be thankful for either.

A long shot is used also as well as a point of view shot, looking through the window at

the mother on her own within the kitchen. This makes it clear to audience that she is

being watched building up tension and suspense as she is unaware of this therefore is

extremely. The costume choice of the mother wearing pyjamas overall makes her seem

more vulnerable. An over the shoulder shot peering through the window has deep focus

once again highlights that someone is watching and the family is now aware of this.

As the arrow flies through the window it

breaks the window. A reverse colouring

technique is used to portray inanimate

danger. There is also amplified sound ofthe window smashing at the same time

making the danger seem more intense and

leaving the audience once again question

why this sweet wholesome family is being

attacked.

Pace picks up as there is quick cuts of close-ups of everyone's expressions this

emphasises the shock and fright on each character but also the upset of loosing part

of the family all of a sudden. Diegetic sounds of screams highlights this fright ,as more

arrows are fired through the window almost as if they are ambushed; indicating there is

more than one attacker.

The next shot used is a point of view shot from

the killer aiming his gun into the window. this

leaves the audience on edge as they are

unaware of whose eyes they are seeing this

through also what their motives being this maybe. Shallow focus is used with the background of

the women blurred to highlight the accuracy of

the aim he has with the gun making the family

seem more hopeless than before . The Music

has stopped at this point and the pace is

extremely fast.

A fade to black is used to highlight the

next stage within the trailer which shows

the families reaction to the crisis that has

taken place. AS they run around taking

cover, shutting doors and windows and

moving furniture in a attempt to protect

themselves from the attackers. This is

indicated through quick cuts as it

highlights their panic they have for not

only themselves but for each other as

they work as a team work for protection.Concurrently eary music is used to

highlight this chaos and danger

Another fade to black is used and the

music stops. The director uses

amplified creaking noises within the

dark hall to connote to the audiencethat the killers have now made it in the

house and the family are now in

extreme danger. But also building

tension and suspense within the

audience as they are aware that thekillers who are armed and experienced

seem to be getting closer and closer. A

frequent creaking noise is used after

every cross cut to highlight this

further.there is frequent use of dialoge

frm the distressed characters like

why would anyone do this to us

highlighting the mystery that is created

A montage of extreme close-ups are used of feet walking and doors opening this

heightens the suspense and tension and it makes the audience question are they all

going to die? As well as this by using close-ups of the door and feet it continuously

hides the identities of the killers and the amount there is of them.

The repeated Exterior shot of the

house is shown again to remind the

audience that they are surrounded by

isolation emphasising the

hopelessness for the family. All thelights turn off connoting that they are

now in darkness and extreme danger

as they are now clueless in where

abouts the killers are within the house

Your next is written on the mirror in

blood suggesting immediate danger

through the threat and highlighting

that the killers are in walking distance

at this point in time from them leaving

the audience at the edge of their seats

At this point we get introduced to the killer

causing the visual to match the action

however identity is still hidden with a mask

increasing the mystery as the audience arestill unaware of who this may be and why they

are attackingTension and suspense is built up

through the use o the blur and

slow man as the man begins to

swing the axe down on thecharacter. This leaves the

audience at the edge of their

seats as they question is she

going to die the use of the high

angle shot creates a sense of

hopelessness for her.
