Scholarship CmitteeAs mandated by Section 2, Article XV of the 2013 UP Economics Society Constitution, theScholarship Committee, Scholcom, is responsible for managing the funds of the ESSF andtaking care of its prime benefeciaries the scholars. For several years, UP Ecosoc was able tosupport the education of countless individuals including the seven young people who areunder the scholarship program starting this year. We have three high school students fromKrus na Ligas High School : Trisha Edongan, Andrea Suizo and Micah Borromeo; 2 fromPolytechnic Univeristy of the Philippines Manila : Kimberly Martinez and Christine Wagas,and lastly 2 from UP School of Economics Diliman : Eduard de Guzman and KristianMartinez.

Qualifications:

!Preferably sophomore or junior standing (butfreshies are still welcome to apply!)!

Competent in college-level skills!Must be available during Scholcom meetings(usually once every two weeks)!Readily available and easy to contact in order

to accommodate the scholars concerns!Always game to spread some love and

mberly MartinezKimberly Martinez or also known as Kim by her

friends, is one of Ecosoc's college scholars from PUP.She is from Agkawayan, Occidental Mindoro but sheis currently staying somewhere in San Juan.Currently in her freshman year, she is persistent in

pursuing her dreams to be an economist andhelping her family. She breezes her way through allher courses by being a hard working, responsible,and diligent student. She is also very friendly bysaying "Hi / Kamusta na po kayo?" to all Ecosocersshe sees online.

Not only is she a great student, but shes supertalented as well. Shes part of her church choir, oftengiven the solo part. And she plays a lot of sportsfrom volleyball to arnis.- Janeen Cayetano

At first, you would think that Christine Wagas is

your average college schoolgirl, 17 and just starting heryear as an Economics freshman in PUP. Once your starttalking to her, this would soon change as she is easy tocozy up to people and striking a conversation seems likethe easiest task shes ever done. Her favorite band isSilent Sanctuary and also a committed Directioner!Reading is one of her favorite pasttimes.

Chrisitine is definitely a sweetheart and as herguardian, I had a grand time as her mommy in Ecosoc.

KistianMartinezHaving shifted from political science, KM still

keeps the attitudes that someone from hisprevious course would have: he reads a lot, keepshimself informed of current events, andoccasionally likes questioning life events to pointthat he won't take "it simply is like that" as ananswer. One should also know that KM also knowshow to speak his mind at any time. In fact, he hasbeen active in extra-curricular activities for awhile: he has been a participant in the NationalYouth Parliament and is part of the Boy Scouts ofthe Philippines. Even with all this, one can stillexpect KM to be that ordinary friendly guy who,extraordinarily, can be a great friend.
