Goals of Academic Pathways

• Improve the way we advise incoming, under-prepared students

• Make major and course choice less overwhelming

• Reduce major switching, excess credits, and time to degree

• Expose students to multiple career options within the pathway through courses (e.g., HLTH A151, BA A151, ENG A151) or advising

• Provide structured maps tailored to a student’s level of preparation and area of interest

• Maximize chances of success in first year courses

• Help students choose the best major after some exposure to the disciplines in the pathway

• RETENTION!
