PARENT-TEACHER MEET Date: 1 st July 2017 The first parents meeting for the third year was organized by the department the department of B. Sc.(I.T.) on 1 st July 2017 The aim of the meeting was to improve the overall development of the students and make parents aware about the changing examination pattern, importance of students’ attendance, use of library, discipline, and other related issues. The meeting started with the welcome address by Prof. Vaishali Guajre,Co-ordinator of B. Sc.(I.T.) . She brief the gathering about the various activities and also explained how department offers the best possible learning environment for the students. Subsequently student’s attendance, academic performance and other special programmes have been briefed to the parents. Vice-Principal Dr K. J. Bhagat told the rules of discipline, unfair means and placement cell. She requested the parents to allow the students to participate in extra and co-curricular activities for overall development. Principal Dr A. P. Mahajan enlightened the parents with his discourse. He said “no gain without pain”. With the changing world the difficulties in education field are increasing so parents have to look after their children. The world is becoming more competitive due to globalization. To compete against these changes the quality education ought to be enhanced. For the meeting 32 parents were present. Some of the parents appreciated the efforts of the college. Question-Answer Session

“CAMPUS RECRUITMENT - Questec Consulting”

Date: 7th July 2017

Questec Consulting has conducted Campus recruitment drive on 7th July 2017 in B Sc(IT) department pg Pragati College of Arts & Commerce, Dombivli

Panel of two members, Navdeep Khera - HOD& Founder, Kanchan Thakre: SR Trainer Software Testing & Vikas Pawar - Business Head (Placement & Recruitment )came for searching suitable talent by conducting student interviews for for Manual& Automation testing

The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Vaishali Gujare & started with warm welcome of

Questec team.This was followed by small presentation by Navdeep Khera ( HOD& Founder ) which gave detailed knowledge of company. After that group discussion was conducted, students qualifying the group discussion was then interviewed personally by the respective HR person & students selected in this finally interviewed technically by Premchand Vishwakarma ( Team Leader : Software Testing ) & Kanchan Thakre(SR Trainer Software Testing)

Around 28 students participated in the campus interview drive, 12 students qualified group discussion . Qualified students were then interviewed, results were declared after the interview round was completed.

Four students were shortlisted by the HR team & confirmation letters were given for the shortlisted students as well as to the department

Overall experience and feedback of the Questec team was very positive as the need of their organization to search the right talent to drive its business objectives is fulfilled by our students. Panel members were very keen in conducting Campus recruitment drive next year also.

Students were happy because they know that working with Questec is the right environment to grow and achieve their career goals.

Our Principal Dr. A.P.Mahajan motivated & supported in every aspect for the successful conduction of this campus drive & quoted how such programes were essential for boosting the confidence of students.

“Seminar on 3DAnimation & photography”

Date: 12th Aug ,20172017

A seminar on 3D animation and photography was organized by CREATIVE MIND, to sensitize students

on the roads to a career in animation,on 12th Aug 2017 at 11.00 am. The event witnessed over 600

participants, many of whom were school and college students who want to specialize in animation.

As India is producing many animation professionals who are presently based in reputed studios and

production houses like Technicolor, Rhythm and Hues, Maya Digital, Prime focus, Red Chillies and UTV.

The speaker, Shri Sammer Bendre said, ""not everyone is cut out for academics. There are children

with other skills too and it helps to recognise these talents. I am happy that we got opportunities to conduct

such to help children with such skills to explore possibilities.

Animation experts Sammer Bendre and team held an interactive session on 'The Art of Invisible

VFX & photography”.

A discussion was held on the various career opportunities available in the field of Animation &

photography and how to grab them smartly.

All the participants seemed to enjoy and benefit from Madam. I am sure Sammer Bendre added loads of

colours in the canvas of all the students. The seminar trained one and all in every aspect which is essential

to successfully ace an interview.

“Seminar on Open Source Technologies”

Date: 12th Aug 2017

A seminar on Open Source Technologies",. was organized by an Foslipy Initiative to create awareness in

students about the open source technology on 12th Aug 2017 at 11.00 am.. Open source technology is

production and development philosophy of allowing end users and developers to not only see the source

code of software, but modify it as well.

The future of open source in the country is bright, backed by the Indian government’s Digital India

initiative and the announcement of its Open Source Policy. .

The speaker, Ms Sayali Yewale said, " India is no longer just a nation of diverse cultures and

languages, but has also become a huge market for software and various technology offerings – ranging

from operating systems and productivity tools, to desktop servers and cloud solutions.”

Ms Sayali Yewale and team held an interactive session on Open source technology and digital

India”

The detail discussion was held on the various career opportunities available in the field of Open

Source technology and how it can also opens up the way for entrepreneurship

All the participants seemed to enjoy and benefit from madam. I am sure Ms Sayali Yewale added changed

vision of our students with the respect to digital India. The seminar trained one and all in every aspect.

“Seminar on Android Technologies”

Date: 9th December 2017 A seminar on Android Technologies", was organized by an Dcodetech. A demo session on “Android” was

organized with the aim of introducing students to the career opportunities in the field of developing apps

and gaming through android on 9th December 2017 at 11.00 am. Dcodetech is a industrial training institute

which provides free training and placements to the students of various colleges.

The session was conducted by Ms Reshma Salunkhe & Ms Pooja Chuhan subject matter expert on java

J2EE form Dcodetech. He divided the session into four introductory parameters: I: Introduction of Java

concepts ,II: what is android and Android Architecture, III: Android Applications Development, IV:

Introduction of How to develop different apps and tools using android.

In the first part of this demo session, Ms Reshma Salunkhe discussed about the Java concepts which are

essentials for the understanding of Android OS. Madam has also given some examples of object creation,

encapsulation, inheritance, abstraction etc and linked these things with the real world. Then, Madam

explored the concepts of java in the second introductory part with the help of implementation of packages

in java and the classes which are in build in java. After that, Madam gave the introduction about android

operating system and its history. Madam explained the constraints of the mobile application as compared to

the desktop application like orientation, processing power, Events calls, platform versions, testing

parameters etc. Basically these are the essentials which we have to be keep in mind before developing the

mobile application. The web sites which can help the students for developing apps using android i.e.

developer.android.com etc. Then Madam went on to explain about IDE for develop the application and

started the work on Eclipse IDE. He explained various things in IDE and then explained a small application

for the students’ knowledge.

Students asked many questions on application development and their future scope in mobile application. It

was an extremely informative and an interactive session where students acquired enormous basic

knowledge on Android.

The students were very keen for this seminar and they learned a lot about Android. This lecture would

certainly help them understand their subject in a new perspective.

“Math Hunt Activity” Date:16thSeptember 2017

T.Z.A.S.P. Mandal’s Pragati college of Arts & Commerce, Dombivli(E) organized “DEPARTMENTAL EVENT” which was followed by Math Hunt Activity

This event has focused on topics like general knowledge, computer ,sports & maths. The

main objectives behind conducting this event was to motivate students and to develop their logic in different topics.

The event was conducted on 16th September 2017 at 1130.a.m in our college. Students of

BSC(IT),BMS & BBI were actively participated. The competition started at 11.30 A.M. with first round ,Top 10 students were selected. The

second round was started at 12.00 & from these top 10 students First 3 were selected The result was declared at 1.00 P.M. Certificate were given to the 3 winners.

“Seminar on Software Testing”

Date:16thDecember 2017

A seminar on Software Testing was organized by an SEED Infotech ,with the aim of guiding the students

and faculty members about the testing tools and mindset required for Software Testing in IT industries & to

assist participants in understanding Software Testing from IT industry point of view, on 16th December

2017 at 10.00 am.

The seminar was aimed to guide the participants on mindset required for software testing and the recent

tools available to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Prof. Chandana Malvade commenced the

session at 10:00 am by introducing eminent speaker Mr. Manish Jha, and then Prof Vaishali Guajre

welcomed the speaker with a bouquet of flowers.

The main resource person for the course Mr. Manish Jha has 7+ years of huge experience in IT Industry

and has led and managed Software Development Projects and Training with companies like Infosys, iGate,

Patni, CDAC and many more.

Having worked at senior positions in many IT giant companies, the speaker had a very direct and practical

approach of training to develop required skills and imparted useful knowledge with a lot of real life

examples, best practices and pointing out typical mistakes and ways of avoiding those.

The contents covered in the session included in detail about What is Quality, Mindset required for Software

Testing, Types of Software Testing - Static Testing & Dynamic Testing and Techniques for designing

effective and efficient Test cases.

The students were very keen for this seminar and they learned a lot about software testing. This lecture

would certainly help them understand domain of software testing in a new perspective.

“Power Point Competition”

Date: 9th Sept 2017

The Department had organized a PPT competition on the topics relating to ‘Social Network’ on 9th Sept 2017 in

the college Class Room 002 at 11:30am. The main objective behind conducting this event was to share their

views & knowledge by the mode PPT Presentation.

The Judges for this competition was Prof. Deepali Kadam. The event started with the welcoming of the Judge

by presenting them with bouquets by Vice-principal Dr Avinash Shendre.

21 groups participated and gave mesmerizing and captivating presentations: The audience and judges were hugely impressed by the speakers. Every group was bombarded with questions after the presentations which were handled quite tactfully by the students. Prior to the announcement of winners, the judges gave their comments and words of wisdom to the students so

as to further improve their presentations and take it to a higher level. It was very motivating to hear them.

Overall it was a great learning experience for everyone. The 3 prize winners were presented:

First Prize: 1) Rajani Dhulipala 2) Mohit Kambli

Second Rank: Kavita Mahajan

The event concluded with our Head of the Department Prof Vaishali Gujare proposing a vote of thanks.

“An Intercollegiate One-day Workshop on WordPress on-source CMS”

Date: 25th January 2018

An Intercollegiate One-day Workshop on “WordPress:Open-Souce CMS” , was organized by B.Sc(IT)

department in association with Dcodetech-IT training Institute on 25th January 2018 at 11.00 am. This

workshop was suitable for existing WordPress user and those considering starting a blog or WordpPress

website.

The main resource person for the workshop was Mr. Mahesh Kadu, founder of Brandwiki Company & Mr

Rahul Patil, Business Analyst in Universal Sompo General Insurance has 15+ years of huge experience in

IT Industry and has led and managed Software Development Projects and Training.

Like other event, we have got overwhelmed response around 170 students participants from colleges like

SSt,SIE,Royal,K.M. Patel. S.K. Somiya, MCC etc were participated.

Presidential dress is given by Principal Dr A.P. Mahajan as well as student enrichment speech was given

by Vice-Principal Dr A. B. Shendre.

The session was conducted by Chief-Guest Mr. Mahesh Kadu Kadu & resource Person Mr Rahul Patil.

They have divided the session into four introductory parameters: I: Introduction of WordPress ,II:

Websites Using WordPress , III: WordPress Community , IV: Blogging with WordPress.

The students asked many questions on Website development, Blogging using WordPress and their future

scope. It was an extremely informative and an interactive session where students acquired enormous basic

knowledge on WordPress.

The students were very keen for this Workshop and they learned a lot about WordPress. This lecture would

certainly help them understand their subject in a new perspective. The workshop was ended by proposing

vote of thanks by Prof Vaishali Guajre(Co-ordinator of BSc.IT).
