FROM PRINCIPAL'S DESK
It is my pride privilege to welcome all the students in our Rayat family. You are indeed blessed to' find opportunity of being educated at one of the best colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai. The college is run by Ral(at Shikshan Sanstha, the largest educational institution of Asia. The Sanstha has made commendable progress In the field of education reflecting the ideals cherished by its visionary founder, Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil. He started his mission by opening boarding houses for the students of downtrodden classes and rural area to inculcate noble values like social equality, selfdiscipline, dignity of labor and self-reliance amongst them. The symbol of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, a banyan tree, indicates it's far reaching educational expansion in terms of 672 branches established in rural parts of Maharashtra and some part of the state of Kamataka. The Sanstha basically works for rural masses to uplift their educational standard and attaln their overall development.
Mahatma Phule Arts, Science and Commerce College, Panvel was established in 1970 to educate students of farmers, workers and san makers in the Panvel, Uran, Pen and Khalapur Tehasils. It was the first and sole option of educational opportunity at that time. We feel proud to say that our college has played a cascading role in the career and personality of innumerable students who have brought laurels to the college, state, and country alike. Thousands of students have been benefited from the quality education provided by our college and have reached the top posrtions in ;academic, social, cuHural, sports, etc. provinces. );o>- ABOUT THE RAYAT SHIKSHAN SANSTHA Our Mother Institute, the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, is one of the largest and leading educational Institutions in Asia established by great visionary and educationalist late Padmabhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil in 1919. The founder of the institution, late Dr. Karamaveer Bhaurao Patil, had an incisive understanding of the social ills that beset his times and fully realized the dire need of the spread of education. He believed that education alone could correct the social ills such as caste-hierarchy, moneylending, illiteracy, untouchability, superstitions and social and economic inequality. Throughout his life he tried to translate this belief into reality. The value of Sanstha's contribution to education In general is enormously great as jt has, from the very beginning, tried all its best to lay emphasis on the education of the down-trodden, the poor and the ignorant who really form the major bulk of society. It is now spread in 14 district of Maharashtra and 01 district of Karnataka. The Sanstha is working with the network of 675 branches which includes 41 colleges, 455 high schools, 81TI, 8 Ashram Schools to cater the educational needs of nearly 5 lakhs students every year. Since the day of inception, the Sanstha has worked especially in the rural area towards the upliftment of society and economically deprived people through education. The emblem of the institution is the Banyan tree.
);o>- ABOUT THE COLLEGE Mahatma Phule A. S. C. College, Panvel is one of the most flourishing branch of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha and well recognized in University of Mumbai. Bachelor of Science In Information Technology (B.Sc. In Information Technology)
i. Introduction
Today, the term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term is more recognizable than ever before. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management. networking engineering, computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems. When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology or "infotech". Information Technology (IT) is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate and 1 or disseminate information.
B.Sc. in Information Technology is an integrated three year full time course and is conducted in six semesters. This programme has been develop to study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.
ii. Objectives
e To make seminal contribution at perspective policy and practice levels and to all dimensions of inter-relationship between technology and development, including the techno-economic, financial and institutional dimensions related to IT.
e Provide training facilities in those areas where special skHis are required for efficient performance of the job in the field of IT.
e To impart state of art education and technical expertise to students in the area of IT.
e To develop skills, understanding, interest and attitudes which would enable the student to foster all-round growth and development of the student under their care related to IT.
First Year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (F.Y.B.Sc. - Information Technology)
