geskikte sentrumwaarhaar seun, Pier-re, versorg kon word, maar geen sen-trum, skool of dagsorg in Durbanville-omgewing wou só ’n erg gestremdeseun inneem nie.Pierre het as normale weekoue baba-

tjie weens dehidrasie ’n breintrombosegehad en erge breinskade opgedoen,wat hom ’n spastiese kwadrupleeg metserebrale gestremdheid gelaat het.Daar was wel sentrums elders, maar

dit was moeilik en onprakties, omdatsy in Rondebosch en Woodstock ge-werk het.Toe sy einde verlede jaar haar werk

by ’n advertensiemaatskappy weenspersoneelvermindering verloor het,was dit vir Adri die teken.En op 14 Januarie het die Yarden

Children’s Enrichment Centre in vyfSondagskool-klaskamers van die NGKerk Bergsig-Durbanville geopen.Die naam Yarden is afgelei van die

Hebreeuse woord vir Jordaan – Pierrese tweede doopnaam.“Jesus is ook in die Jordaanrivier ge-

doop; dit beteken ook neerdaal van dieHere se guns op die sentrum. Ons hoopook dat Pierre se nalatenskap só virbaie jare sal voortduur,” vertel Adri.

By dié sentrum word die werk vanengele gedoen met kinders wat te ge-strem is om by enigeen van die andersentrums in te pas.“Ons wil kinders versorg wat jou

nie, want elke Vrydagmoet hulle al hulapparaat en toerusting weer oppak totdie volgende week.“Ons is dankbaar vir die kerk vir die

vergunning om die klasse gedurendedie week te gebruik teen ’n minimalekoste, maar sou graag ons eie perseelwou bekom,” sê sy.Die sentrum kan tans tot agt kinders

It took 31 fire-fighters almost four hours toextinguish the blazing fire at the South Afri-can Breweries (SAB) depot in Stikland, Bell-ville on Sunday afternoon.The sky was blackened with billowing

clouds of thick smoke for hours as fire servi-ces fought to contain the fire.Spokesperson for City fire services spoke-

sperson Theo Layne said the fire broke outat about 16:20 in the afternoon and was re-ported shortly after.“Although the buildings at the depot were

occupied by staff at the time, the cause of thefire is still undetermined,” he says.Staff were evacuated from the building.One truck, eight trailers, wooden pillars

and an unknown number of plastic contai-ners were destroyed in the fire, says Layne.“Four fire engines and three water tan-

kers were on site and the fire was contained

without difficulty and completely extingui-sed by 20:00 in the evening,” says Layne.Police cluster spokesperson Lt Thembi

Gwe says no arson is suspected and a policecase has thus not been opened.

Daarna sal die ontwikkelingsplanvir die terrein gefinaliseerword en teen ein-de April by die stadsraad ingedien word.

Ehlers het gesê die eerste fase van die ont-wikkelingsplan bestaan – soos die oor-spronklike plan – uit ’n winkelsentrum vanongeveer 30 000 m², ’n vierster-hotelmet 220slaapkamers, kantoorruimte van ongeveer30 000 m² en die herontwikkeling van dieVelodrome self. “Die uiteindelike doel is om’n meerdoelige binnenshuise sentrum vanwêreldklas te skep,” het Ehlers gesê.

Devmark is deel van ’n konsortium beleg-

gers wat Devmet-eiendomsontwikkelaarsvorm. Devmet het ’n tender van die Kaapsestadsraad gekry om die 11,5 ha waarop dieVelodrome en die Bellville-atletiekbaan ge-leë is, te ontwikkel. Die stadsraadhet tevoregesê die herontwikkeling van die Bellville-Velodrome en omliggende gebied is die be-gin van ’n omvattende plan om ’n tweedestadskern vir Kaapstad in die noordelikevoorstede te vestig.

Die stadsraad beskou die Tygervallei-ge-bied as die kern van ’n tweede stadsgebiedwaar daar ’n mengsel van behuising, klein-handel- en kantoorruimte sal wees.

Openbare vervoer, soos die MyCiTi-bus-diens, sal ook daarheen uitgebrei word.

Die stadsraad het die 11,5 ha grond wataan Carl Cronjeweg grens aan die ontwik-kelaar verkoop. Die inkomste vir die stads-raad uit die tenderooreenkoms is R230 mil-joen. – Marelize Barnard (Die Burger)

Bouwerk skop in Augustus af

Vanaf 1 Februarie gaan die Stad Kaapstad’n nuwe beurtkragskedule instel.

Die huidige skedule wat op die dae vandie week gegrond is, is in 2008 ingestel engereeld opdateer. Dit was spesifiek ontwerpvir toevallige beurtkrag gedurende aan-vraagtye na hoë krag, wat sedert 2008 dienormwas. Sedert die einde van verlede jaarhet Eskom se nasionale beheersentrum eg-ter beurtkrag op ’n gereelde basis en oor na-weke toegepas wat ’n situasie geskep hetwaar inwoners op die onmoontlikste tye endae van die week beurtkrag ervaar het.

Om dit aan te spreek het die Stad ’n nuwebeurtkragskedule opgestel wat groter rota-

sie toelaat volgens die dae van die week.“Met die nuwe skedule wil die Stad verse-

ker dat inwoners geskeduleerde beurtkragopverskillende tye endae ervaar en sodoen-de kan die ongerief van beurtkrag oor allegebiede roteer word,” sê Ernest Sonnen-berg, lid van die stad se burgemeestersko-mitee vir nutsdienste. Vanaf 1 Februariegaan die Stad beurtkrag volgens die nuweskedule implementeer wanneer Eskomhul-le opdrag gee om dit te doen.

is baie meer uitdagend vir ons as akteursom hulle aandag te behou,” vertel De KlerkOelofse, wat die rol van Kipper vertolk.Nog opmerkings deur die akteurs oor ver-

lede jaar se Doha-avontuur sluit in: “Ditwas warm”, “Jy moet betaal om strand toete gaan” en “Brandstof is goedkoper as wa-ter”. Maar kla sal hulle nie – alles word be-taal, van salarisse tot verblyf en etes.Volgens Margit, wat reeds die afgelope 15

sued to motorists either travelling abovethe 60km/h speed limit or for ignoring thetraffic signals while travelling in an easter-ly direction. In the westerly direction a fur-ther 1 321 fines were issued during Decem-ber,” Van der Merwe saysHe adds the offences dropped sharply in

Die inwoners van Huis Magnolia inBellville is verheug nadat hulle verle-de week by die Stad Kaapstad die

groen lig gekry om die doring in hul vleesin ’n sieraad te omskep.

Die Bellville-subraad het by sy vergade-ring verledeMaandag die voorgestelde ver-huring van die stuk stadsgrond op erf 16966in Kotzestraat aan Huis Magnolia seACVV-dienstak aanvaar vir goedkeuring.

Dit kom ná jare van klagtes oor die onse-delike dade en dwelmhandel in en vuil toe-stand van die oop stuk grond tussen diédienssentrum,wooneenhede en versorgingvir ouer persone in Baxterstraat en die be-rugte Parksig Villas.

Volgens Ria Abel, voorsitter van die be-stuur van Huis Magnolia, is die hoofdoelom die veiligheid van die 106 inwoners ensowat 65 besoekers aan die dienssentrumte verseker.

Volgens haar is hulle al helder oordagaangeval en is daar by motors ingebreek.Twee motors is die afgelope ruk daar ge-steel. Leegleêrs het daar gemors en dwelm-handel was algemeen, het sy gesê.

“Die doodloopstraat voor die ingang nadie sentrum is snags gebruik vir prostitu-sie.

“Die oop stuk grond is baie vuil en onhi-giënies agtergelaat. Die situasie het ’n ne-

gatiewe impak op die inwoners, onderne-mings, omliggende inwoners en die ge-meenskap as ’n geheel gehad.

“Die inwoners is vuur en vlam om geldin te samel om die stuk grond te omhein enmettertyd ’n groen gebied te vestig, wat al-mal in die omgewing en die Stadsraad toteer sal strek,” het sy gesê.

Die koste van die heiningwas sowat tweejaar gelede ongeveer R100 000.

Abel het die stadsraad namens die inwo-ners bedank vir die goedkeuring van diehuur van die stuk grond.

“Ons waardeer die begrip en ondersteu-ning van die Stad – in besonder die raadslidvan die wyk – vir die probleme wat onsdaagliks hier ondervind,” het sy gesê.

Die stuk grond gaan vir ’n periode vantien jaar teen ’n nominale koste van R2 280per jaar aan die ACVV verhuur word. Diehuur sal jaarliks aangepas word.

Hulle wil ook graag die stuk grond metbome verfraai en ’n staproete vir die inwo-ners en besoekers daar vestig. Die plan isook om sitbankies daar te plaas.

Abel het die publiek aangemoedig om bo-me of sitbanke te skenk.

Sy het uitstekende reaksies op haar boekgekry en Leserskring het binne tien dae nadie eerste bestelling nóg boeke bestel.

Die kroon op haar sukses was toe haarboek in 2012 SA Books se topverkoperlys ge-haal het. Nóg ’n kompliment was dat die uit-gewers, Protea-Boekhuis, ’n tweede oplaaglaat druk het.

’n Kosbare oomblik was toe haar biologie-se pa al die pad van L’Agulhas gekom heten haar aanneemouers ontmoet het tydensdie bekendstelling van haar boek in Ronde-bosch. Hy was ook daarna by die begrafnisvan haar aanneempa die daaropvolgendejaar.Op die horison ver is ’n fiktiewe liefdes-

verhaal. Sy het aan dié boek begin skryf nogvoor Dis my geheim vir publikasie goedge-keur is.

Hoewel Toe Elvis ophou sing op ’n wareverhaal gegrond is, gebruik sy dit net as ’nbasis in haar boek en bly dit steeds fiksie.

Dit handel oor die gevolge van alkoholis-me op kinders in ’n huisgesin. Dis gegrondop die ware verhaal van hoe ’n dogtertjiegrootword in ’n huis met ’n pa met ’n drank-probleem – watter effek dit het op haar ver-houdings en keuses in die lewe.

“Ek hou daarvan om in te klim in iemand

se skoene en te sien hoe hulle deur ’n situa-sie geraak word,” vertel sy.

Die hoofbron van haar inligting was ’nvriendin wat in só ’n huis grootgeword het.Sy het ook inligting op die internet versa-mel.

Fiksie“Dit bly egter fiksie. My karakters begin

in ’n stadium hul eie persoonlikhede ont-wikkel. Dis asof die karakters op hul eieaangaan en ek net tik wat hulle als aan-vang.”

Nóg ’n onderwerp na aan haar hart isborskanker. Sy is reeds besig met onder-houde met ’n vrou wat daardeur geraak isom agtergrondmateriaal in te samel.

“Mense reageer verskillend as hulle metborskanker gekonfronteer word. Daar isook baie meer daaraan as wat mense besef– van die oomblik dat ’n vrou hoor sy hetborskanker, die dinamika tussen haar endie dokter, en ook met haar man...”

“Daar is nie regtig boeke oor die onder-werp nie. Dit het so ’n geweldige impak opsoveel vroue en hul gesinne en families, datek glo dis ’n verhaal wat vertel moet word,”sê sy.

Juanita, ’n dosent in kriminologie aan dieVarsity College in Rondebosch, het besluitom nie die eerste semester te werk nie,maar op haar skryfwerk te konsentreer.

A pet spider who crossed at least threestreets and an open field, was found un-harmed by a Pinelands resident.

Ricardo Kock’s wife and children wereplaying around at his house in Disa Streetwhen his eight-year-old son Jordan saw

the spider.“He had the fright of his life. When I

came around the corner I saw it as welland got hold of a piece of Tupperware andmy fishnet. I reckoned the spider could bedangerous, but I realised it was no ordi-nary one so I caught it alive,” says Kock.

He took the spider to the local animalshelter, but also got hold of the owner.

What surprised Kock was thatthe spider walked so far. “I’m surea person’s first instinct is to kill it,but I’m glad I didn’t. It would beinteresting to know how far a spi-der can walk,” wonders Kock.

After he posted pictures of it onFacebook someone recognised thespider as one belonging to a wom-an living three streets away fromKock. He reckons the spider walk-ed at least a kilometer. “The ownerof the spider says it has been miss-ing for almost two months.”

Norman Larsen, an arachnolo-gist, says the spider is a ChileanRose Tarantula. “It is a very harm-less spider, but illegal to own one.The distance it covered is not un-common. Spiders will walk andrest. I hoped they gave him wateras soon as they found him becausehe would have been dehydratedafter being exposed to the sun forthat long,” says Larsen.

Larsen educates people on spi-ders every Saturday between 11:00and 12:00 at Cape Union Mart atCanal Walk.

“I would like to educate peopleon spiders and they can come andhave a look at my ten tanks of spi-ders,” he says.TygerBurger tried to get hold of

the owner of the spider, but to noavail.

Partnership between business andschools is highlighted in a publicationrevealing how radical change is being

effected in education.Partners for Possibility is an organisation

that had its humble beginnings in 2010 as aproject of the Symphonia organisationwhich brokered groundbreaking partner-ships between business leaders and schools,and is reaping astonishing results.

Last week the organisation hosted theWestern Cape launch of the book Partnersfor Possibility in Bellville.

Written by Mandy Collins, it chroniclesthe story of a community building processand leadership project that has the potentialto change education in South Africa.

The book details its beginnings at Kanne-meyer Primary School in Grassy Park whenone of the founders of the organisation, Lou-ise van Rhyn approached principal RidwanSamodien with the idea of business partner-ing with the school to improve conditions forlearners.

Exciting timesFast forward to 2015 and that partnership

has spread to 200 schools across the country.It has been an exciting time and some of

those founding members were part of a panelwho discussed their experiences at thelaunch attended by the author along withTrevor Manuel, Kannemeyer PrimarySchool principal Ridwan Samodien, Peri-vale Primary School principal Denzil vanGraan, Sophakama Primary School princi-pal Sabelo Makubalo, UWC Rector ProfessorBrian O’Connell, business leader IrenéRaubenheimer, Sharon Rohm from LewisStores, provincial education minister Deb-bie Schäfer and Professor John Volmink.

The book details ten partnership casestudies.

At The Valley Primary in Durbanville,principal Priscilla August was partneredwith Ansonette van der Merwe of fruit ex-port company Capespan. The school facesproblems that included poor parent and

community involvement, poor pupil disci-pline and unmotivated staff.

Parents were given incentives to start tak-ing an interest in the school and day tripswere organised for the children to showthem life beyond their farm environment.

One of the partnership highlights was re-cruiting volunteers to tutor pupils and thusimprove their literacy level.

Difficult challengesThe area I grew up in was rife with social

problems like gangsterism and crime so Ichose a school with the most difficult chal-lenges. It made me feel at home because itwas like going back to my roots,” says Mo-hamed.

Unemployment among the communitysurrounding the school was high and absentparents were common, resulting in childrenlacking support and having very poor read-

ing skills. A lack of nutrition also hamperedmany pupil’s ability to learn.

This case study describes how workingwith principal Gary Faulman, workshopswere held to make the staff realise theirstrengths.

A number of projects have been started toenhance pupils’ education experience. Faul-man feels the partnership has had a majoreffect.

“First and foremost is the faces of theteachers. You can see there is a big changein their morale, they feel more supportedand confident about their role now they haveidentified the most important issues and areable to look at it more holistically.”

Another major partnership is at Sophaka-ma Primary School in Dunoon where IrenèRaubenheimer from Rogz, a pet gear compa-ny, teamed up with school principle SabeloMakubalo.

When the partnership started Makubalohad been principle for three years and hadreceived limited leadership training, which

left him overwhelmed by the responsibili-ties that he faced.

The school did not have a permanentstructure, there was no phone or data line,there were no extra mural activities and is-sues of language, with children learning inXhosa from Grade R to 3 and then switchingto English.

Discussions and planning led to them de-veloping their arts and culture department,with a choir that has performed well at na-tional competitions.

Their has also been a move to radically im-prove reading and literacy skills.

Makubalo said he has learnt to listen andrespect other people’s ideas.

“I used to be impatient and just want togive orders. The listening skills I got fromthe programme helped me change the waythat I interact with my staff.”

Raubenheimer feels he has also learnt alot in this process.

“We got into this because we really wantedto help change the way our clients view ourbusiness and they have started asking howthey can also become involved.

“I make a point of telling people that I dothis for my children because I want to miti-gate the risk of them in an unstable environ-ment created by the gap in education.

“I learnt that the school didn’t need whatI thought they needed, they needed some-thing different. It was for more important tooffer a listening ear and treat them with dig-nity, and not just drop stuff off.

“As an outsider I had to learn to engageand find out a lot more. I have also becomea lot more tolerant with our staff and I under-stand their challenges

Trevor Manuel from the National Devel-opment Programme (NDP) said the projectwas an example of active citizenry whichwas at the epicentre of the NDP.

“Active citizenship is what is going todrive change in education in South Africa,”he said.

Way beyond the breakers, faded outlinesof ships disappear and reappear in the whitemist. Table Mountain rises from the mist,creating the impression that it is floatingabove the City Bowl.

The waves wash over their weary feet un-til they are at peace.

Yoga master Laurence Milner (53) looks atthe TygerBurger journalist and affirms peo-ple are stressed out and in need of some re-lease.

We stop and look back along the beach

from where we came. Hundreds of people arepreparing themselves for the annual FreeYoga on the Beach, an initiative of the Chait-anya School of Yoga.

The journalist notices his and Laurence’swinding footprints have been washed awayby the persistent waves.

“Yoga is not about perfection. It is notabout putting your right foot around yourleft ear. It is about doing what you can, inyour time, in your space,” says Laurence.

“Yoga doesn’t work from without, it worksfrom within. It isn’t about touching yourtoes, it is about what you learn on your waydown,” he continues serenely.

Laurence has learnt a lot in the ten yearshe’s been a yoga student. When he was firstintroduced he was suffering from addiction,

but he has since discovered a new way of liv-ing.

His first impression of yoga reflects theperceptions of many.

“A lot of people think it is very soft, weakand gentle, and primarily for older people.This perception is changing in a big way.Most people leave their first introduction toyoga with the thought that they should havestarted years ago.”

Laurence looks at the powerful dynamicof the breaking waves and adds: “Yoga canbe very strong and physical.”

As we walk back to the large gathering ofcentred individuals and those who long tofind themselves, Laurence declares that thisis the fourth year the school of yoga has host-ed the free 75 minute session on the beach.

Every year the turnout is bigger, and to-day (Saturday), about 260 people became onewith themselves and with nature.

“Being around moving water is veryhealthy for your body, and the soft, sandysurface works the muscles, ligaments andjoints on a slightly deeper level. Ultimately,what better way to do yoga than to come to-gether on a beautiful morning, listen to theocean and practice it in absolute nature?”

After the two part company, the journalistwalks past the keen students and noticessomething each one has in common.

They have all come to a complete stand-still.

Behind them the buildings tower, the traf-fic races, and the mad rush of the world en-dures.

itan has partnered with a Delftorganisation to help enhancethe lives of those affected by thedisease.The company recently hand-

ed over R50 000 cheque to theMasithembele Community En-richment Centre and CSI man-ager Elsie Govender explainedhow they came about support-ing the organisation.“Metropolitan hosted an

event at Parc Du Cap for WorldAids Day on 1 December lastyear,” she said.“On the day, employees were

given access to free HIV andother wellness screenings. Wealso encouraged staff to donatetowards the centre in Delft withnon-perishable food items andthey were able to purchaseitems made by the Masithem-bele crafters.“The health promotion and

wellness testing services werefacilitated by Desmond TutuHIV Foundation’s Tutu Testerand the MMI Foundation.”Another event that helped the

centre in Delft was the annualMetropolitan 10km race in De-cember.“Here the Desmond Tutu HIV

to be doing in your garden right now.Plant and sow:It’s the ideal time to plant the following herbs in

containers: basil, chives, dill, nasturtiums, parsleyand watercress. Keep the soil moist until the firstshoots appear then pinch out new growth on the seed-lings to encourage them to become compact andbushy.You can also look at planting heat-tolerant annuals

like alyssum, celosia, sunflowers, marigolds, petuni-as, portulaca, red salvias and zinnias.And if you have a veggie garden, or want to begin

one, then now’s the time to plant artichokes, beans,beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower,leeks, lettuce, potatoes, pumpkin, spinach, squashand turnips.Irises are always beautiful and if you are planning

on planting them thenmake sure your soil is rich andadd some superphosphate. The rhizomes should behalf exposed to the sun and the soil should be keptmoist.Feed:

With their brand new album and end-less supply of positivity, Glo Wors-hip Band is on a mission to sing the

truth.The group started out as a church band,

doing outreaches that just got bigger over ti-me and as their ministry evolved, so did theband and their goals. The band’s unusual na-me, which is pronounced as “glow”, wasthought up by band member Pierre Schoe-man’s wife. “It’s got to do with light and thatweare the light of theworld,which the scrip-ture tells us.”They’re not sure why they dropped the

“w”, but it happened tomake the nameworkwell in English and Afrikaans.Glo launched their debut-album, Sons of

God, at Jamrock Theatre in Brackenfell lastweekend.

From the heart“All of us kind of had it in our heart to re-

cord an album somewhere along the line,”explains Roedie Nortier, but it was onlywhen their pastor suggested their materialwas good enough to record that they startedseriously considering it.They experimented with recording at

church, but in the end their album was pro-duced by Gideon Murray from Katalyst Stu-dios.“One thing we all have in common is that

we’ve lovedmusic since wewere little,”Wil-liam Loedolff says of his band members.They’ve also asked the Lord to use them sin-ce they were little.With this inmind,William points out that

while a lot of gospel music is beautiful, Gloask: “Is it also beautiful to God?”“Many songs that people write misunder-

standGod’s love for people,” he says.He sayspeople sing about personal experiences, like

being far fromGod, instead ofwhat theWordsays. “It’s not necessarily the truth.”This concept changed the band’s view on

music, shifting their focus from melody tolyrics, which are written with the idea of lis-teners singing along.

Sing along“Having people sing along to a CD ismuch

easier than getting them to sing in church,”says Elmi Nortier. The album has giventhem a way to get people to sing positivethings about themselves in a funway. “Theydon’t even realise it but they are puttingtheir lives in order by singing with us.”The idea of singing the truth also led Glo

to the realisation that thereweren’t veryma-ny songs they could use, so they had to write

their own. This job mostly fell to Williamwho wrote most of the tracks on the album.The music has elements of rock and folk,

but is unpretentious and simple, makingtheir uplifting lyrics easy to sing along to.Rather than being known as just a band,

Glo is a movement. Together with PastorLood Spies, the group run a ministry calledMach C. They want to help worshippers andsongwriters do what they do.While the album is English, the band is al-

What started out as a funmusical pro-ject has become a fairly successfulendeavour for the members of nort-

hern suburbs band Borderline.The band was originally started by guita-

rists Michael Godfrey and Wyatt Peters lastyear.Michael had approached Wyatt to teach

him to play the blues.“And then he got the idea to start a band

and just play once at Eastwoods, perhaps,”Wyatt explains.As they went on, Wyatt found a bass play-

er, André van derMerwe, and the three star-ted rehearsing their songs. They had to playa showcase for the owner of Eastwoods befo-re they would be allowed to book a gig there.As luck would have it, a cajon player, Len

Miskin, happened to be at Eastwoods thatday. Luckier still, he happened to have hiscajon in the car, so the three invited him tojamwith them. Their first gigwas scheduledfor the very next day and Len became a per-manent member.The first gig became a second and so on

and the rest, as they say, is history.

Eclectic styleEastwoods’ management suggested that a

female vocalist may be more suitable fortheir audiences and so they decided to findone. They started off with another singer,but she wasn’t around long. Eventually therole went to Dominique Peters.At that stage the band were called The

Blues Collectors, a moniker they decided tochange, to avoid being pigeon-holed into agenre.They were playing around with ideas

when “Borderline” came out, a name farmo-re suited to their eclectic style.

“Our eventual aim is to do a whole lot oforiginal numbers,” explainsLen.While theyare playing some original music now, theirset also contains covers, but as Len points,out, they put their own interpretations onwell known songs.“We’ll sometimes turn a Bob Dylan song

into a reggae song,” Len says, for example.Wyatt, who sang for the successful D7 aca-

pella group before, usually comes up withthe framework of their original songs beforetaking it to the band for their contributions.“We approach originals by playing to each

other’s strengths,” he says. Ultimately, Wy-att describes Borderline’s music as “looseand colourful”.Thinking back to their first gig, Wyatt

sayshe didn’t expect them tobe together thislong. It was at a show at Plaasteater that so-

meone told him their sound was “fresh”which is why he thinks they are doing sowell. “It seems like there’s something newabout it,” he says.

DisciplineThey have built up a reasonable following

of fans who keep coming to shows. “We ma-naged to get people behind us who want tosee us,” Len says.Another contributing factor to the band’s

momentum is their disciplinewhen it comestomaking sure they rehearse andwork toge-ther regularly.“One of themain reasonswhy there is this

sort of magic feel, I think, is because Wyattand I are musically well connected,” Lensays. This leads to interesting improvisati-ons on stage and means that no two perfor-

mances sound the same.“Sometimes those things just happen

spontaneously on stage,” Wyatt adds.For now, the band’s main goal is playing

as many shows as possible, not just in clubs,but also at festivals and private events. Theyare also interested in getting sponsors on bo-ard and making merchandise available forpurchase at their shows.Readers will get a chance to see the band
