MERSIN INTERNATIONAL PORT TURKEY MERSIN Mersin International Port’s (MIP) success as the biggest port in Turkey continues today because of its proximity to major international markets such as Middle East, North Africa, Mediterranean, Europe, Black Sea and Central Asian Republics, as well as to North America and Far East, with direct calls that have drawn many businesses to its shores. Connected to more than 100 international ports and located in the southeast of Turkey, MIP remains a key gateway to the eastern Mediterranean. The terminal plays a critical role in the economy and trade of south and southeast Turkey, and the inland transit markets of neighboring countries such as North Iraq and Syria. It is also well connected via highways and the southern railroad hub to all provinces. Adana Airport, with frequent flight connections, is only 70 kilometres (43 miles) away. Adjacent to the port is the Mersin Free Zone, the first free zone established in Turkey in 1986 where warehouses, manufacturing, packing-repacking, assembly-disassembly, engineering, leasing and exhibition facilities are located. As part of the East Med Hub (EMH) expansion, a new annex has been added to MIP’s terminal facility. With this development, MIP is the only terminal in the region capable of handling vessels over 18,000 TEUs, 387 metres in length and 15 metres vessel draft, with new cranes of 24-row outreach and 49.5 metres in height. contact Mersin International Port Yenimahalle 101 Cad. 5307 Sok.
