The platain is a monocot plant with a superficial root system, formed by secondary roots

in the form of hair representing a support and anchor to keep the aerial part of the plant.

Page 9: Tropical fruits and plantain

It belongs to the musaceae family, and although it has the appearance of tree, is a

herbaceous plant perennial giant, whose stem is a rhizome that grows within the soil,

short roots originating outbreaks or so-called also hills or puyones, by means of which

reproduces. The current varieties are the result of the crossbreeding of plants first

originating in Asia, particularly the species musa balbisiana and musa acuminata, which

contained no viable seeds, while the current varieties.

the variety of banana (horn) for processing as food are basically marketed in colombia,

however, more than 30 varieties of musaceae that consumed mainly in the regions of

production are grown.
