Dear Friends, My prayer is that you have a blessed summer and that you are able to get away, even if for a short period of time and relax. Perhaps you like to read a book, take a long walk on the beach or hike in the mountains, or simply sit on the porch. Perhaps you just enjoy quiet days at home with no agenda or place you have to be. Whatever it is that brings you rest and peace I hope this summer offers that opportunity to you. While you are on the road I ask that you keep Holy Trin- ity Episcopal Church in your thoughts and prayers and continue your support. We have had a strong spring overall in attendance and support but our pledges have lagged a little bit behind budget which normally doesn’t happen until summer comes along. So please make a note to keep current with what is going on here. And always, know that should pastoral needs arise we are always here to address them. Our church family misses you when you’re gone, delights when you are here and is always ready to lend a helping hand when the need occurs. Please keep the church office apprised of your whereabouts and needs. Finally all services will continue throughout the summer so should you be in town, please come. If you run into people who are visiting from other places please tell them about Holy Trinity. God Bless! Faithfully, Fr. David Have a happy and safe summer !

Lord, as their days increase, bless and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them when they stand, com-fort them when discouraged or sorrow-ful, raise them up if they fall, and in their hearts may your peace which passes all understanding abide all the days of their lives.

THE MONOTONY OF GREEN Green always gets old. I'm speaking here of the season following Pentecost, what is sometimes known as "ordinary time." Week after week of green--stoles, chausibles, frontals... Growing up, summer was an incredibly busy time. I'd set off with the youth choir to see America, driving by bus to sing at churches and juvenile detention centers in places like Houston, Birmingham, and Chicago. The next few weeks would be filled with activities with the youth group, all looking forward to the last big event: PowerCharge. PowerCharge was our youth camp, where several churches would gather and worship and fellowship. It was always an exciting time, filled with convicting sermons that caused us to stir in our seats and make us feel guilty for the bad stuff we'd done throughout the year. PowerCharge always culminated with "the prayer chair." The prayer chair was one of several metal chairs in a side room where you'd sit and your youth group (and friends you'd made from other youth groups) would surround you and lay their hands on you. It was always characterized by intense emotions, tears, and re-commitments made to God. PowerCharge always happened a few weeks before school started back up. You'd have made these intense commitments and then... real life would begin. You'd pick back up with your crush. You'd let a swear word or two sneak back into your vernacular. You'd flip the TV back to MTV every now and then. Your Bible reading would begin to wane. Before long, the emotional high of the prayer chair would wear off and you'd be right where you were before. Fall would turn to winter, spring would arrive and begin to give way to summer. The prayer chair would be on the horizon. I've sat in that chair six times in my life. The last time I ever faced it was a powerful time. I was reminded (I know it had to be the Holy Spirit) that if I'd taken my commit-ments in the past seriously, if I meant what I told God, then the chair was no longer necessary and my desire for it was more for the emotions than what the chair represented. In short, my relationship with God had to continue beyond the emotions. I needed to be with God even when it was boring. To me, this is what Ordinary Time, the season following Pentecost, is all about. It's about learning to be with God in the monotony of green. The excitement of Easter has to give way to something "normal", unexciting. Ordinary. And God is there. There's a temptation to break up the never ending green of ordinary time. Some have proposed adding a creation season to the cal-endar. But, to me, that is missing the point. That is failing to allow God to speak to us in times of monotony. It is to risk worship-ping the excitement itself rather than the God who excites us. It is allowing the prayer chair to take God's place. It is a blessed thing to have a season so ordinary, so monotonous, where we can encounter Jesus in the trough between years. Where we can reflect on the flurry of the kaleidoscope that is Advent-through-Pentecost.

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS Summer Church School will begin after Vacation Bible School ends and will meet in the Parish Hall with Michael Dolce on Sunday, June 24th. Fall Church School Round Up will be held on September 9, 2012

Anyone Interested in Ringing…

Anyone interested in ringing in the Bell Choir this fall, please let Mace know by June 15th. The Bell Choir is sort of like a baseball team, in that each position requires a player. If the pitcher or the cen-ter fielder is absent, it is nearly impossible to play the game. Over the summer, I will be marking music for the exact number of ringers we will have in the fall. It is difficult to add people into the mix once rehearsal of the music has begun. It is equally challenging when we don’t have the number of ringers for whom I have prepared! So, if you would like to be a part of this exciting music ministry let me know ASAP!!! This year we were fortunate to have 6 dedicated ringers: Doris Gash, Liz Hulett, Elida Collins, Liz Lee, Karen Carroll, and Liz Nahom, to carry on the wonderful legacy of our “Carol” of the bells! The Bell Choir rehearses on Monday nights from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm in the Youth House.

Come and join in the fun!

Your children will love the high energy games, cool wilderness crafts, and the best Vacation Bible School music and skits ever. As children explore SonRise Na-tional Park, they will learn the most important skill of all: they can always depend on Jesus and His promises of true peace, true riches, true power, true love, and true hope. Take your children to SonRise National Park, where all trails lead to Jesus! Children must be entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2012 to attend our VBS. Children younger than kinder-garten age may attend if their parent volunteers and is on campus all week. Please register ASAP at www.holytrinitywpb.org, we do have space restrictions and we hate to turn anyone away. A healthy snack is provided each day. Please apply sunscreen to your child each day. We begin at 9:00am and conclude at 12:30pm, Monday- Friday, June 11-15, 2012. Unfortunately, we do not provide aftercare and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
