The IATA e-freight initiative is an industry-wide program that aims to reduce the use of paper documents in the airfreight supply chain by moving to a simpler, paper-free, electronic environment. It involves among others:

Scope of DocumentsIATA e-freight removes 3 types of documents

Sent electronically by origin shippers and/or freight forwarders to destination either using agreed EDI standards (XML) or simple pdf documents – often done in ‘pre-alerts’ already today
