This scenictrain journey... Trails from the Track
The National Trust estate at Cotehele can be reached by a 1¼ mile walk from Calstock station. The walk is mainly on the flat, apart from one steep hill up to the house. The walk takes in fantastic riverside views and many remnants of the area’s industrial heritage.
From Calstock station follow the signs down the hill onto the road. Take the first road to the right before you reach the centre of the village, signposted Cotehele.
Follow the riverside road, past Danescombe House and up the hill to Cotehele House (admission rates apply) where you can explore the house and gardens or have lunch in the Barn Restaurant or to Cotehele Quay and beyond to the working Mill for a longer walk. Pick up a leaflet at staffed stations.
More great walks from the Tamar Valley Line can be found at www.trailsfromthetrack.com or by calling 01752 233094 for a free walks pack. For details about visiting Cotehele Tel: 01752 351346 or .

Here you will find the true meaning of
‘hidden gem’...
Trails from the Track There are a variety of walks
in the Tamar Valley which use the train as a starting point.
Some of the walks are circular, some are linear but all allow you to discover this beautiful valley at your
own pace, using the train.
A Tamar Valley Line walks pack can be downloaded at www.trailsfromthetrack.com or by calling
01752 233094 to request a copy.
Plymouth’s Historic WaterfrontPlymouth’s historic waterfront has a proud place in world history.
Visit the Mayflower Steps in the Barbican where the Pilgrim Fathers embarked for a new life in the New World. Take in the grand view from the Hoe and imagine Drake looking out on the Armada from the same spot.
The Barbican’s cobbled streets brim with excellent cafes and restaurants, boutiques, souvenir shops or visit the National Marine Aquarium with its exciting exhibits including sharks and turtles.
Both the Hoe and the Barbican are a short walk from Plymouth City Centre, itself a short walk from the station.
