THE PRO’S CORNER—BEN TRAEGER

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS FOR 2017-18 The Entertainment Books for 2017-18 have arrived at the golf club, and if you have per-ordered, they can be collect-ed from the office during office hours 9 to 4 Monday to Fri-day. To collect outside of office hours please make arrange-ments with Rachel. If you have not already ordered one yet, this can be done through the Club by emailing the office at [email protected] These books are excellent value, and 20% of the sales go to the Golf Club as a fund raiser.

BIRD DAMAGE TO THE COURSE The little corellas that invade the course during warmer months can be very destructive to the greens and natural fauna. To this effect the members of the club should recognise the great work being done by John Paech in “discouraging” the thousands of Corellas from damaging the course, and in

particular the greens. This process means that occasionally there is a considerable noise, which may cause some play-ers a fright, but rest assured ‘Paechy’ is doing the club a great service with this “discouragement” and keeping the damage and noise to an absolute minimum.

“HOW THE HELL DO I PLAY THIS”? Kay Gale (pictured right) contemplating how to play the shot from the hazard, is being given some advice from Chris Bock. We are not sure if she took the advice or what the result was, but it makes a good pho-to!

LADIES OPEN DAY A HUGE SUCCESS The biggest event on the ladies calendar was held last Fri-day 31st March - it was the Ladies Open Day which attracted a full field of 128 players from 17 club's. (29 players came in convoy from the Tea Tree Golf Club.) Prior to the start of play morning tea was on offer, our sponsor Villies supplied party quiches and Cherie Mason and Cheryl Brooks ran an amazing trading table that fetched approximately $1300. You name it - they sold it from chut-neys, sauces, to cakes and muffins. The day was a roaring success which included volunteer spotters on the course, hearty bunker rakers, and a delicious two course meal was served at the 19th. A very special guest was Charley Jacobs who hails from Ardrossan, plays at Glenelg and plays off a 1.7 handicap. The day ran like clock work due to a huge team effort and won high praise from our visitors - all involved can be very proud. A Full Trading Table Winners of the Day (L to R) Janet Petherick (C Grade), Penny Mathews (A Grade), Mary Schumann (B Grade)

IT ALL EVENS OUT! Every time a golfer makes a birdie, they must subsequently make three double bogeys to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the uni-verse.
