Advent and More

It is time to prepare for the coming of the Christ child.

We begin on Sunday, November 18th with the beginning of Advent. The season of Advent has four Sundays with the lighting of the Advent Wreath, which takes us through Sunday, December 9

th. Then, following our 9:30

worship/10:30 special congregational meeting on the 9th, it is

time to expand our decorations. We will take some time to decorate our facilities so we are all ready for Christmas Eve. All are invited to stay and help. A PIZZA LUNCH will be provided for those who stay (please sign up beforehand so we may get enough pizza).

Then on Sundays, December 16th and 23

rd we have at St.

Paul’s two additional Sundays before Christmas to aid our preparation and anticipation. This before time will culminate on Sunday, December 23

rd at 4:00 PM with a "Peaceful

Christmas Service.” This service will be more reserved with some time for quiet peaceful individual reflection.

Then on Christmas Eve we will worship with candle lighting at 4:00, 7:30, and 10:00 pm.

The annual Giving Tree is up in the narthex through December 2nd. Grab a tag and help make someone’s Christmas. As of this writing, there were only 3 tags left! Don’t forget to return the tag along with the item. Thanks!

On December 9th, there will be one combined service at

9:30am followed by a special congregational meeting at

10:30am. Please make every effort to attend.

Women’s INC - It’s that time, Ladies, to pull out your cookie recipes! YES, the 3rd annual Cookie Exchange is on Saturday, Dec, 15th, at 10:00am. It is important that you sign up for this event so we know how many cookies we have to bake! We plan to hold it in the Parsonage unless there is a large group--then we might move it to Fellowship Hall. Sign up and include the type of cookie you are making. Then on Dec. 15th, bring your cookies in bags/holders of 6 cookies each and include the recipe and your name in case of allergies or questions. And there will be reindeer games!

Thank You!

Despite some extremely dreary weather, we had a very successful Spaghetti Dinner Youth Fundraiser Friday night. We raised more than $1,200 which will go towards youth retreats and mission trips. Thank you for all the

food donations and for coming out to support us. And thanks to the many volunteers that made the night possible.

Two Upcoming December Events:

Young Youth (through 5th grade) will be having a Christmas party at St Paul's on December 2nd from 12-2 pm. We will enjoy pizza and snacks while making crafts to keep, and crafts to share with nursing home residents. We will need some teen helpers. Please sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4ea9ad2da4ff2-crafts3

Youth in 6th-12th grade will be spreading Christmas cheer on December 9th from 3:30-7:30. We will lead a sing-along at St Paul's Rejoicing Spirits worship service and then join other area Lutheran youth and adults for a pizza party before traveling to Simpson Meadows to Christmas carol. The crafts made by our young youth will be distributed to residents. We will need some adult drivers to help out. Thinking of someone? Send a card! The InTouch Ministry encourages you to reach out to others in this very special and personal way. Don't let a trip to the card store stop you...cards are available in the narthex on the hallway table. Think of those on the prayer list, your friends, family, church members or just someone who you want to thank.

The Altar Flower sign-up chart for 2019 is up in the hallway. Cost is still $30 for an altar flower arrangement. Sign up now!
