MILITARY SERVICES COLLECTION: On behalf of His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, thanks to those who contributed to the Triennial National Collection for the AMS last week. November Giving – Students will be collecting can goods and monetary donations during the month of November for Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Christ Our Savior Parish Food Pantry and the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

MINUTES OF PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING

1. Welcome: Father Martin called the meeting to order.

2. Opening Prayer: Rosie Hollen led council in prayer.

3. Minutes: Doris Almasy, Benita Fisher moved & Council approved the Sept. 9th minutes.

4. Parishioner Time: None at this time.

5. Guest speaker: None at this time

6. Pastor’s Report:

a. Oktoberfest: Great Success! It was Low Key, Lots of fun; food was good – sold out, had one

band and picked up more people this year. We may want to consider some event like this in the

spring; a dinner dance or Mardi Gras celebration

b. Quarter Auction will be held in November.

c. Parish Census: The census has been sent to all parishioners and we have received 146 back.

d. Parish Mission: Our Parish Mission has been scheduled for March 23 – 25, 2020 and we have

booked Frank Runyeon who will be presenting St. Luke, Sermon on the Mountain and “Soul of the

Light” - a special presentation for kids.

7. Parish Calendar

October 12 – Chicken Rib Dinner

October 20 – Stuffed Cabbage Dinner

October 22 – Community Dinner

October 27 – Halloween Bash – 5 to 7 at Holy Trinity

November 1: ALL SAINTS 9am SN – 6 PM – HT

November 2: All Souls 10 am – Memorial Mass SN

8. Reports from different groups & committees:

Deacon John – No Report

Betty McCullough – School Principal – No Report

1. CCD – Had a great start to the new year, we have 72 families in our program and 108 students.

2. Reconciliation – Meetings will start on Oct. 15th. Our first parent/child meeting is Oct. 20th.

3. Youth Ministry – Will be joining with Holy Family at their location, to make Christmas

Ornaments for Children’s Hospital on Oct. 20th from 1-2, Nov. 3rd Open Gym at St. Nicholas Church

from 6 – 7:30, and on Nov. 17th we will visit Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly campus from

1:30 – 2:30 to deliver ornaments.

4. Virtus: Trainings have started. We will be having training on Oct. 21st at SN lower church from

6 – 8 pm. There will be Fingerprinting on Nov. 9th.

Spiritual Life – Jaclyn Blake, Chair Will be working to make the Parish Mission a success

Social Concerns – Joan Burgmyer, Chair

Food Pantry: There has been a significant increase in persons and households served since June.

Year to date totals show that 916 households have been served and 2,085 adults and children.

Parish Life – Rosie Hollen, Chair – Census forms are coming in and Rosie is starting to tally the results.

There were 1,910 mailed and 146 have been returned.

9. New Items:

a. Collaboration Region 15 – Meeting with Lay Leaders will be scheduled to concentrate on

the mass schedule.

More changes in the schedule may be forthcoming to provide a better balance in the regions.

b. Advent 2019 – Planning to have some morning talks, may look at DVD’s on the Eucharist and

Reflections. Please let Father Martin know if you have a topic you would like to explore.
