THE DE SOTO KNIGHT NOVEMBER 2015
Volume 15, Issue 6
Serving the parishes of Christ the King, Holy Spirit, St. Gregory, and Good Shepherd
As all know we lost one of our
extended family members on
September 25, 2015—Carolyn
Grayson wife of William Gray-
son, a member of our Council,
passed away.
We all will keep Carolyn in
our prayers as well as the en-
tire Grayson Family. We send
to Bill our deepest sympa-
thies and condolences. May
God keep her in His arms and
hold her close. Rest in Peace
Carolyn….
This is the time of year when we gather with our families
and give thanks for all of our blessings that we have re-
ceived during the year, and this also applies to our
Knights of Columbus Council and Assembly Family. As a
KofC family we need to thank God for the blessings that
he has bestowed upon us and believe me there are
many—our talented officers and our members who work
to make our council productive and successful, the many
activities that have been chaired by members - such as
the Blood Drive, those who work the Fall Fest, the Color
Corps who provide the Honor Guard at our members
and/or their wives funerals, those who set up the Pump-
kin Patch and work so hard to make it successful, those
who work the Pancake Breakfast, the Coats for Kids pro-
gram, the Soccer Challenge, to all of these and to our
members who work behind the scenes to make these
activities a success we give thanks. Just like any family
we will have some disagreement, but I like to think that
in the end we will all do our best to make the project a
huge success. To all we wish a Happy Thanksgiving—
may you and your family be showered with blessings
from above.

over 1 hour to unload– we thank all who took part in
this work.
We even had the Mayor of Horn
Lake working—thanks Mister Mayor

CASTING CALL ————-CASTING CALL ————-CASTING CALL
Are you interested in acting? Do you like being in front of people? Can you
read from a script? If so we have an opportunity for you!!!! Our First Degree
Captain Ken Lubbers wants you!!! He is in need of members to help with the
degree — he needs people who have the ability to act. The first degree is like a
play in 5 acts—the Warden is the first act; then the Chancellor is the second
act—the third act is the Deputy Grand Knight, fourth act is the Grand Knight
and finally the Financial Secretary is the final act. We need people to help with
these parts—some of us are getting older and need understudies. We also
need a person to play the music—no not play as a piano player but someone
who can turn on a disc player and follow the script. So if acting is in your blood
or you just want to be part of the most important degree in the KofC then con-
tact Ken Lubbers or e-mail me, Fred Ward, with your name and e-mail address
and phone number. WE NEED PEOPLE SO JOIN US ON THE FIRST DEGREE
TEAM!!!!
The Fourth Degree is selling the BEST BOOKS full of coupons for $20.00—for the
$20.00 you will get the current Best Book for 2015 and the new Best Book for
2016 — This is the only fundraiser that the Fourth Degree has and it needs to be
successful. Your support is needed—we still have a few books to sell and need to
wind this up by the 17th of November — So if you have not purchased any or
have not had a chance to sell any please do so — have the money in at the next
Fourth Degree Meeting.
Sacred Heart School has requested an Honor Guard for their Veterans Day Celebration on
Wednesday November 11 at their 10:00AM Mass - Please make time for this — I will be
in contact with all members with Regalia to be sure how many will be able to attend. Keep
that Morning open please. I understand that Father Greg, our Chaplin, will be saying Mass

Do you Remember?
Many years ago Christ the King Church use to have a Parish Picnic—now we call it the Fall Fest—The
Knights were very active in that activity for the Parish — The pictures below are just some of the many
pictures that I have and since the Fall Fest is upon us I thought it might be interesting to see these
“old” pictures again. Many of the Brother Knights in these pictures are of course gone now but there
