THINK Volunteers
Volunteers leave a lasting impression!
Volunteers are essential to the success of THINK Together!
Volunteers significantly reduce tutor-to-student ratios, thereby enhancing the quality of academic and enrichment
programs
The support and encouragement of our volunteers gives our students the motivation and tools they need to
overcome their obstacles and reach their full potential
THINK Together is proud to have 135,000 hours of volunteer service each
year
THINK Safety Policies
Supervision of Students THINK staff is responsible for the direct supervision of the program site. At no time
are volunteers left alone with children, a paid staff member must be present within reasonable distance.
Keep students within line of vision at all times. At any time you become aware of any violations of, or lack of compliance with these policies, please inform the Site Coordinator.
Confidentiality As Volunteers you may become aware of information during the course of your service
that must be kept confidential.
For example: financial data; student names, addresses, special needs; students’ parents’ personal and financial data; personnel information, etc.
The only instance in which a volunteer may break this policy is if a student’s health, safety, and/or well being are in danger. Any suspicion of neglect or sexual, physical, or emotional abuse should be reported immediately to the Site Coordinator.
THINK Safety PoliciesRestroom Policy Volunteers are not to use restrooms designated for students. The Site
Coordinator will identify restroom locations for volunteer use at the On-Site Orientation. Check with your Site Coordinator for specific restroom protocol at your site.
Emergency Procedures Accidents causing bodily harm are to be reported to the Site Coordinator, who
will take proper care in following standard emergency procedures. Volunteers who themselves suffer a potentially serious injury should report to the
Site Coordinator when it happens. Check with your Site Coordinator for safety training and evacuation procedures
at your site.
Diligence Safety conditions largely derive from common sense and diligence related to
behavior and work environment. Students must be supervised to play and study safely. Inappropriate running, climbing, game playing, pushing, et cetera must be stopped.
