The couple kept things local while planning an elegant celebration. They succeeded in creating a gorgeous, memorable day, shared with friends and loved ones.

DRESSING THE WEDDING PARTY: “We had a big wedding party with twelve girls and twelve guys on each side. It was important to me that all of my bridesmaids were comfortable...with all different body shapes and personal styles, I wanted to ensure that they had some sort of a say as to what they were going to wear. I chose twelve different styles of dresses, all in the same colour and fabric, and they were able to choose what they liked the best. All the ladies were happy with their choices which made me extremely happy as well!” ~ Amanda

PHOTOGRAPHY: Frances Morency Photography (♥) (www.francesmorency.com). “As a photographer myself, I found this process easier than most. I loved Frances’ photography style...We were absolutely thrilled when she agreed. Being on the other side of the lens was an experience for me. It was easy to give up being the photographer and just be in the moment because I trusted her completely. Frances really caught the candid vibe of the day and the incredible backdrop. She created a

stress free experience that we will never forget.”

THE DRESS: Alicia admits that her gown was her first and easiest purchase. “I found the 1950’s lace tea gown online...it really set the tone for the rest of the visual elements of the wedding day...”

INVITATIONS: Alicia is also a graphic designer, so naturally, she wanted to put her own stamp on her stationery. “Thank goodness my friends are amazing. We had an invite building party and got a lot of them customized, hand tied, glued and put together. This seemed like the most time consuming element for the entire wedding!”

THEME: Authentic, vintage... Think 1930’s gangster. Alicia’s dress was authentic 1950’s. “My hair was done in pin curls and finger waves. The gents didn’t wear jackets…just vests adorned by homemade boutonnieres made with antique buttons and feathers.”

WHAT’S IMPORTANT: The entire guest experience was key for Alicia and James. “We asked them to come on a trip with us and we really wanted to do everything we could to make it awesome. We kept an eye on flight deals, arranged hotel accommodations, suggested things to go see while traveling…all while adding special touches to our day like learning the Argentinean Tango (we busted it out for the first dance) to live piano music and a custom song made for us.”

PAYING IT FORWARD: Alicia and James found themselves watching the news for updates on their venue, which nearly washed away in the 2013 Alberta flooding. The couple made a donation, in their guests names, to the Alberta Red Cross relief efforts. They also planted a tree at the venue to help with the new landscaping.

DESTINATIONWEDDING IN THE CANADIAN R O C K I E SAlicia & James wanted their wedding day to be totally unique, intimate and absolutely fabulous. The couple planned a DW after falling in love with a stunning log cabin style Inn set amidst the Canadian Rockies. They said ‘I do’ with views of the Three Sisters mountain range and guests enjoyed a full service weekend filled with laughter, love, delicious meals and the breathtaking backdrop of Canmore, Alberta.
