In a world increasingly obsessed by the price of everything and the value of nothing, weoffer an alternative. Rods and tackle designed to do a job well, using the best materials. Wehave a factory in the UK where all “Harrison Advanced” branded rods are designed and manufactured for very specific fishing niches. These are hand made by the most experiencedteam in the trade.We also have “H-Design”.This is a new brand for rods and blanks thatare designed and developed here in Liverpool but not necessarily made here in the UK.H-Design is targeted at applications where volumes are bigger. We believe H-Design is veryspecial. Very few companies can combine the benefits of in house research, design andprototyping with the economies of overseas production.

We also offer a design and development service for customers who require somethingspecial either under our brand or their own, and this product can then be produced in the UKor Asia depending on the volume, product type and price point. Volume runs as small astwenty or many thousands can be produced.

To go with your rods we can supply components, cork, EVA, rings and fittings.

We also distribute terminal tackle from Owner and Hiro.

Introduction

New Torrix: Our best sellers are still hard to beat, but now we have Torrix.Ballista pioneered slimness in Carp rods and was probably the first Carp rod to successfully use 40Ton carbon.Chimera introduced the use of two woven carbons in conjunction with 40 ton high modulus carbon. To these wehave added Torrix.

Ballista remains one of the best choices for all carp fishing and they are available in a huge range of test curveoptions.

Chimera is another cult classic.It looks great, has high resistance to torsion and is very light. The 12’ 3lb is the most versatile rod whilst the 3.25lb achieves great distance in real world situations without any compromise onfish playing.

Torrix is cutting edge. We have all new tapers and new lay ups exploiting super wide super flat pre-pregs foroptimum performance. We have squeezed a little more power, and added “slimness”. The butts have a 1k woven fabric lay up over high modulus UD. The tip is free from weave to quicken response and tip speed.Chimera and Ballista are so good it has been hard to offer an upgrade path. But in Torrix we have a rod that webelieve justifies a slightly higher price tag. Available in 12’ 2 ¾ and 12’ 3lb and 3 1/4lb

Ballista Classic: The rod that launched a thousand copies. Like the Porsche 911, conceived some time ago, but with littleyear on year improvements, still very hard to keep up with. The range is characterised as being easy to cast with, timing andstyle is not critical, but choose the right rod and distance is easily achieved. Kurt Grabmyer won the World Carp cup in 2003using 13 footers with multiplyer reels for ultimate distance! But not all Ballistas are about distance.The range starts with 21/2lb rods for big fish in small waters.Standard rods come in a no nonsense natural tough carbon finish. They are fitted with genuine Fuji NPS reel fittings andHopkins and Holloway Hardlon ring sets. 40mm on the 2 3/4lb plus rods. Tyings are black. Prices are keen. Performance isawesome. These rods will tame the biggest fish and cope with those last lunges at the net. There is no lock up. If you want adeluxe finish–just ask! You can specify. Prices from around £135. Ballista II. Keeping the best of the old and adding something new. In developing Ballista Classic we learnt that great carp rods are abouta lot more than the tensile modulus of the carbon. In Ballista we pioneered the introduction of HR40 to rods in the UK, but we alsoadded something else. At any time a rod under load has some parts under tension but others under compression. We developed aphilosophy, we call it CTB for compression tension balance. We use a range of carbon fibres with different characteristics to optimizethe rod blank not just for tensile modulus but for compression performance as well. This pays dividends when you are playing out a fish.The compression characterisics of the underside of the bending rod are as important as the tensile properties of the topside. The way inwhich we combine the fibres is a bit like the way traditional craftsmen have used multi modulus natural materials like Yew and Tonkinfor long bows and split cane rods.

Carp Rods

Most modern carp rods focus on distance, and we have distance rods too, but fishing is about pleasure and notall carp fishing is done at 120yds plus on big lakes. In fact, in the UK you are quite likely to be fishing smallervenues for big fish and you get more fun using a rod built for close to medium range fishing. We are notsuggesting a through action 11 footer like the old cane classics, but there is case for a modern interpretation.We have a massive choice.

Multicarp: Almost as famous as the Ballista. Theserods are slim and semi through action, but not in theleast bit sloppy or soft. They have plenty of liftingpower in the butt, and can apply pressure to turn afish when needed. They are ideal at eighty yards orless, though can cast further if necessary. These rods have accounted for more big fish than most and usedregularly for 50’s on the continent. Available in a range of test curves, and featuring CTB balanced construction.

Ballista Slim: Rods have always got slimmer and lighter. Ballista Slim offer ultraslim rods with progressive actions for medium range fishing. Available to order in 12and 13’ foot and choice of colours. Fuji Sic as standard. Great rods for close to medium range, and capabable of more distance than the Multicarps. Most effectivewhen used with a 30mm ring set under 100yds when they are a joy to use an analternative to clumsy big pit rods.

CHIMERA: We have talked about fishing pleasure at close and medium range in our Ballista andMulticarp rods. Chimera is a range that starts at medium range and goes on and on. Chimera startedwith the Chimera 12 3 1/2lb, which is a bench mark for fishing big leads at big distance. The blankpioneered the combination of UD carbon and two weaves concept which is where the name(pronounced Kimera) comes from. The Chimera was a mythical beast combining lion, goat andserpent. The UD carbon is our serpent and the lion and the goat the 3k and 1k plain carbon weaveswe use in the butt and tips respectively. This construction gives us power, strength, torsion controland drop dead looks. The 3 1/2lb is only for very accomplished catsers, but we now have anawesome 3 1/4lb which is less critical of timing and will produce the distance for the regular angler.But these rods are now available in a wide range of test curves, from the almost mellow 12’ 2 1/2lb to the awesome 12 3 1/2lb. All look stunning with the almost holographic look, and all can cast. The 12’ 2 3/4lb is the best all rounder. It will cope with a wide range of casting weights, and has a lot of actionfor handling big fish. The 31/4lb is great for big pits. If you just want one set of rods go Chimera 12’ 3lb. The rod building is fabulous with minimalist Fuji reel seat and stainless fittings. The rings are SlimSIC. And of course there is the option of custom build.

Carp Rods

New Torrix

Torrix, the challenge was to improve on what we had. It was a hard struggle. No significant newcarbons or resins have come on to the market in the last ten years. It was a case of subtly tweakingtapers, resin content, fibre angle and fibre mix to try and gain a significant step forward. And at lastwe did it. Torrix is formed from super flat, super wide, lightweight prepregs to allow new lay ups.Torrix is slimmer, but has the strength and torsion control of bigger diameter rods. Tip mass is down,and all of this is immediately evident in the feel when you pick the rod up and swing your first lead.Torrix is sheathed on the butt section in 1k plain-woven fabric, and is plain UD on the tips. The weavehelps hoop strength in the butt, but it is not continued into the tip as the advanced tip lay up does notrequire strengthening.

Torrix is available in rods and blanks. Rods come as standard wth Fuji Sic.

Torrix Data

Three test curves are available at 12’ and one at 13’. The butt is sheathed in 1k woven fabric over 40 ton carbon, and the tip has weave at the joint but derives its hoop strength from crossplies of lightweight ud carbon.The thinking has been to go for performance first, but like the Chimera, this is a very good looking rod. The firstthing you will notice is the balance, when swinging a lead, it feels more in contact. The low tip mass and slimdiameter means more casting energy goes into the lead, and less into accelerating the blank.

Carp Rods

H-Design Quark Carp rods by HarrisonsThese new rods are available in 12’ 2 ¾ and 12’ 3lb and 12’ 3 1/4lb.Designed for performance first, but look fabulous, incorporating new Tizic rings, 1k wovenfabric finish and genuine fuji reel fitting. The action of the 2 ¾ is “sweet”, aimed at playing big fish with reserves of elasticity, and the 3lb is a little tighter, a great all round rod capable of excellentcasting, with the 3 1/4lb a distance rod with an action anyone can cast distance with. In terms ofangling heritage, these rods have Ballista style no lock-up, fish playing action with the strength formodern leads and bait loads.

Added to this, the rods are probably amongst the best looking on the market. The smooth plain weave carbonblank is gloss coated and beautifully rolled with a medium to slim diameter. 1k Carbon Fabric is used on the 2 ¾and 3lb with 3k used on the 3 1/4lb rod. The fittings are the best quality. Genuine stainless collars either side ofa Fuji 20DNPs reel seat. The new Tizic rings have strong stainless frames with a Titanium Vapour DepositionFinish which is both as tough as you can get and looks great with a subtle bluish sheen, and the slim highlypolished Zirconium centres with flanged tip rings make these rods ideal with mono or braid. A shrink rubber buttgrip for slime elegance finishes the handle. Discrete metallic silver tipping at the joint and handle finish thewhole job off.

These rods also offer great value than ever. These are a premium product at an exceptional price.

For smaller waters less fishing less than 100 yards we recommend 12’ 2 ¾ which has a true multi range action.For greater distance we recommend the 12’ 3lb which has a feeling of “steel”in the butt, but through use ofspecially chosen highly elastic carbon fibres will still have reserves of action at the net. For big pits choose the3 1/4lb

11’ Avon : Proven best seller. Absolute reliability and great value. An 11’ 2 piece rod with a through action, nominally rated at 1lb 6oz. The build is rugged for scrambling on river banks. Gti Match Rods:The Gti range is well known as a great range of rods atthe more powerful end of match rods. They are ideal forputting together big bags of fish on the Severn, or forspecialist angling for fish that rarely reach doublefigures. The tips are either hollow or solid spliced. Thelatter allows lighter floats to be flicked and gives extracushion when striking on hook lengths under 1 1/2lb.There are many accounts of big carp being caught byaccident on these rods, and they have the power whenyou need it.
