President’s Message

Join us on December 8th from 3:00 – 6:00 pm, for an afternoon of Holidaymusic and dancing. There will also be Kareoke for you to sing your favor-ite Holiday tunes. The kitchen will be open for short orders.

In 2015, Fort Wayne Turners will turn 150 years old. Jan Hayward hasagreed to chair the planning committee. She will be holding a meeting onSunday, January 12th at 1:00 pm. She has invited anyone to come andbring your ideas on what events you feel we should have to help celebratethis milestone.

December 24th is the annual Christmas Party from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Meatwill be furnished, just bring a dish to share. The club will be closed on De-cember 25th.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

2014 Dues Statements were sent to you in November. Please let me know if youdid not receive your Statement or if you are now married or divorced. Should younot pay your dues by January 31, you will be dropped from National and Localmembership. If you are not intending to renew your dues for 2014, please indi-cate that on the dues statement so that you can be dropped In Good Standing.Dues statements and money may be turned in to the bartender or mailed in theenvelope that was enclosed with your Statement. There is a discount for mem-bers who have been Turners members 15 years and who are 60 years old. It isyour responsibility to inform me when you arrive at those two magical numberssince I don’t know how old you are. Please call me (338-1965) if you have anyquestions about your Statement.

GERMANFESTAttention all Turner Members and Friends. Jeff Paddock from Headwater parknotified us that the Greekfest wants to stay the third week of June. He wanted toknow if we wanted to move to the second week of June, which is where we usu-ally are. We check with the bands, and we will be moving to the second week ofJune. The new dates for the 2014 Germanfest are will be June 8th to the 15th(Tent will be open, June 11, 12, 13 & 14). The weather may be better the secondweek of June and all the schools will be out by then. If you have any questions,call Ed Keller at 637-3566.

2013 FORT WAYNE TURNER AWARDS

It is not too early to begin thinking about who you feel deserves a Turner Award. Remember,if you feel strongly that someone you know deserves to be recognized for any of the followingawards, YOU need to submit the name. Do not rely on someone else doing the recommenda-tion or it may not get done! Don’t wait until you forget, DO IT NOW! DEADLINE FORALL AWARDS IS January 8, 2014. TO RETURN NOMINATIONS, PLACE IN EN-VELOPE, ATTENTION AWARDS COMMITTEE AND TURN IN AT THE BAR TOBE PLACED IN THE AWARDS MAILBOX.

REMEMBER: You don’t have to be a writer. Simply submit the name of the individualyou wish to nominate and list important information to support your nomination. TheAwards Committee will write the presentation in the event your nominee is selected.

VORWARTS AWARD: Nominations shall be in writing and shall include information as towhy that person should be considered. Please complete resume in complete sentences. Per-son or persons submitting must sign the nomination. The list of nominees shall become theproperty of the Vorwarts Award Committee and shall remain secret. The nominee shall be amember as described in the Fort Wayne Turner Constitution and By-laws under Article 3,Sections A, B, D, E, and F. The nominee shall be considered on the merits of his or her vol-unteer service to Fort Wayne Turners. The recipient shall be the nominee who, in the opinionof the committee, has contributed the most to the Turner principles of promoting health,physical education, cultural education, happiness and progress of mankind. An appropriateplaque will be presented to the recipient, and the recipient’s name will appear on the perma-nent Vorwarts Award Plaque at the Fort Wayne Turners Club.A nominee who is not given the Vorwarts Award and who, in the majority of opinion of thecommittee is very deserving shall be kept for future consideration.

TONY MARKLAND MEMORIAL YOUTH AWARD: Nominations shall be in writingand shall include information as to why that person should be considered. Please completeresume in complete sentences. Person or persons submitting must sign the nomination. TheTony Markland Memorial Youth Award is presented to the youth that best exemplifies thequalities Tony possessed and lived by. A person of high moral standards, with firm familyand community commitments, possessing a good mental attitude and an active Turner person.

PLEASE REMEMBER: You must be a Turner member to purchase alcoholic beverages from

the Fort Wayne Turners. If you are bringing a guest to the club, you must sign them into

the guest book. Once you have both signed the guestbook, you may purchase drinks for

your guest for the night.

Please be mindful of the alcohol rules and if you bring any non-members you must pur-

chase and alcoholic drinks for them. We can not afford to be fined by the state excise. It

is a $500.00 fine for the club and a $50.00 fine for the bartender.
