This month in French class the grade 1s are learning how to make New Year’s resolutions. They said that they will try to speak more in French, that they will tuck in their shirts and that they will participate more in c l ass . Great job grade 1 !

The grade 1s and 2s are learning about all the celebrations of the world, each religion and country. Each religion is different so their celebrations are different. They got to learn a lot. Also the grade 1s are learning about Franklin the turtle. They read a lot of stories about him and learn more after each book. Keep it up! You are doing a great job.

This season the grade 1s and 2s had a great holiday concert. They sang many popular Christmas carols. Everyone thought that they were super and into the holiday spirit. The grade 1s also wrote letters to Santa and got answers from him! We bet they received many presents because they were good boys and girls this year.

The grade six students raised money for the West Island Mission by doing chores. They bought them gifts ranging between $20-25 for both boys and girls. They also wrote an essay on what they can do in their community to make someone’s life more comfortable and discussed the importance of giving back to others.

I n a d d i t i o n , t h e c l a s s o f 6 L purchased and wrapped additional gifts that were donated to two families in the West Island. The students of 6L joined in to help a local business, Imagine Esthetics, to provide these two families with lovely baskets for an enjoyable holiday. The students also prepared heartfelt cards for each child.

6B and 6N have made i-Books using the i-pads. They used pictures and sounds from the internet to make fantastic stories in French. They presented them to the grade fours and I am sure they loved them. I am sure they were amazing. In previous years, many Kuper students performed on stage for the presentation of The Nutcracker. This year, one of our grade 6 students, Andrea Kapusy, played a lead role. Once again, our annual library fundraiser was a tremendous

s u c c e s s . W e r a i s e d a t o t a l o f $ 5 , 9 8 7 . 3 0 !

We would like to thank all the parents who volunteered their

time by baking and helping out at the Book Fair and Bake

Sale. This includes those parents who contributed so freely and

generously when asked to donate raffle prizes. Without your

participation this fundraiser could not have happened. And to

all the high school students who helped, a huge thank you!

A very special thank you goes out to the Book Fair committee

members and all the wonderful volunteers who had the

mammoth task of organizing the Bake Sale, Raffle, Used

Books Sale and the Donation Table. They went far above the

call of duty to make this year’s Book Fair a phenomenal

success. The generous donation of their time and effort is very

much appreciated .

Best regards,

The division 1 boys basketball team and the division 1 hockey team went to the UCC tournament last week. The team was tired after the long bus ride. The players were billeted during the tournament. For the basketball team the lead scorers were Tommy and Francis, and the top defenders were Matty, Andrew, and Rory. During their free time, the players went to see tourist sites such as Wayne Gretzky’s restaurant. The basketball team ended up in third place overall in the tournament. All the players had a great time on the trip but all good things come to an end. On their way back, the teams had a lot of fun playing on the bus. The division 1 hockey team did the same activities as the basketball team. They had lots of fun in Toronto

and also f in ished third in the tournament.

Sony’s new PlayStation 4 has stunning high resolution graphics, texture detail and applied effects. The biggest downside is that it’s short on triple A titles and it’s not backward compatible with the PlayStation 3 console. The high-tech Xbox One is not backward compatible either but its console integrates live TV and acts like a controller for your entire entertainment system.

What are the latest electronics that students of Kuper Academy received

over the holidays?
