ECONOMICS

Almost every industries adapt to war productions:

• An industry that was making kettles changed to making helmets.

• American industry was revitalized by the war, and by 1945 many sectors were oriented to defense production.

• People in the Soviet Union weren’t able to get food unless they worked some way for the war effort.

FOODAmount of food was smaller than WWI

In order to buy food, coupon was needed, money was not accepted. Even rich people cannot get the food they wanted.

MILITARYNew technology and war tactics

Blitzkreig or lightning war: shock tactics to paralyze the enemy

Motorized vehicles, tanks and air powers were coordinated by radio commutations.

New bombs were used called aerial bomb, atomic bomb, minefield(radio beams)

Fire was used ex. Spitfire and firebombs

Soldiers and civilians were injured, and a lot were dead.

THE ROLE OF WOMEN AND CHILDRENWomen were conscripted for jobs especially for technical ones.

In 1941 in Britain women aged 20-30 were called up more than ever before.

Some women worked 80-90 hours per week on aero plane assembly lines.

Many joined armed forces and served overseas.

In Japan, children were sent to work in factories.

55million People died in total

Civilian deaths higher than military personnel

People died from starvation, atrocities, and bombing

27 million deaths were Soviet citizens

There were refugees because cities and

villages were destroyed.
