A note from the Principal… Dear PAE Families, The end of the second nine weeks is very close at hand, which means the second semester is about to get underway. With that being said, I wanted to bring you up to speed on several of our clubs. Sunshine Express made a huge difference for a family by providing holiday gifts. Whereas, Rachel’s Kindness Club collected items for the homeless. In support of our military children, the SCA collected two, over flowing, boxes of toys for Toys for Tots. I also wanted to let you know that Scott Slay, our music teacher, has decided to change his career path. We are currently working to acquire a substitute with music experience. Not an easy task. We do, however, have a couple of irons in the fire. So many great and wonderful things are happening at PAE. Have you checked out our school website lately? We now have a Twitter account thanks to our computer teacher, Jody Carroll. I do hope you find this second semester to be an exciting one. I look forward with great anticipation to what lies ahead. celebration! February 6, 2015

Do you know who the founders of the National PTA were? How about the amazing things that have happened for children in the United States since its start? Come out to this year’s new and improved Founder’s Day celebration and see what else has happened with your PTA! In an effort to continue the focus on helping students of all ages as begun by our founders, PAES PTA brings you the Founder’s Day Celebration. The sole purpose of this family based evening is to raise funds to provide former students of PA scholarships used in furthering their educational goals. It will not fail to impress you and your children! Serious competition is in store! Also, our dinner will be met with a bit of spice and change as well! Be sure to watch for further details coming out soon! Reserve the date down now and don’t make any dinner plans for February 6th, 2015.

It’s time for the Girls on the Run program at Princess Anne! I’m happy to be returning as a Girls on the Run Coach for our wonderful school along with Coach Brittany (our fabulous

5th grade teacher, Ms. Arnold) and my daughter Emily, a Junior Coach who attends Kellam HS! The program starts Tuesday February 10th and culminates with a 5K at the beginning of May. The time in between is spent bonding, learning, being empowered as fabulous young ladies and of course running! Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization founded in 1996. There are now 191 Councils in 45 states and Canada, and this spring in Hampton Roads there will be about 900 girls participating! GOTR uses exercise, positive reinforcement and encouraging role models to help the girls discover the confidence they need in these critical pre-teen years. A letter with information regarding registration is going home in Tuesday folders, and registration begins Friday, January 16th! Spots fill up quickly since we can only take 15 girls! The link to register is: http://www.gotrnova.org/program/registration If you have questions please reach out to me at [email protected]. Kimberlea Elliott Girls on the Run Coach
