Hi everyone

I hope you are all keeping well and safe and staying at home. I wonder what you have

been up to since we finished school. Who has finished all of their homework pack? Who

has used padlet? Who is enjoying time with their family? Who is enjoying lots of fun and

games at home? Your grown ups may have told you that we are really looking forward

to seeing what you have been up to since school closed. We would love to see some

photographs or get a message from you so we can all keep in touch with each other.

Thank you Jessica and Sam for sharing what they have been doing.

Well I have had to learn some new skills whilst being at home. One of which was learning how to use Zoom video conferencing so

I could keep in touch with other leaders in Delta—the first time I did it was a bit daunting! I hear that some of you are using Zoom

for your dance lessons though—well done! I am still really busy even though working at home and luckily I can do most of my

work from home. I do take a break every day to go for a walk and get some fresh air. I am really lucky that I live close to a river,

some ponds and the woods—plenty of places to walk where it is really quiet and peaceful and I can practice social distancing. I

try and walk 5 miles every day. We have had a birthday party at our house and celebrated as best as we could in the circum-

stances. I have also started to (try!) to learn to cook. Mr Hatton usually does all the cooking in our house. After tasting my at-

tempts, my family would like Mr Hatton to continue doing the cooking!! ( I think I need more practice). When I have had a bit of

spare time I have been taking time to enjoy reading books and listening to music. I have also been shopping for people in my

village that can’t get to the shops—one of whom is Mrs Morris who comes into school to do our corridor displays. I have really

enjoyed spending time with my family in the evenings—we have been playing games and watching films together. I also have

joined the rest of my street in applauding the NHS at 8pm on a Thursday evening—have you been doing that too?

I am really missing seeing all of you and hope it’s not too long before we are back at school although I know being safe and

staying at home is the priority .

Enjoy the Easter holidays and I hope you get a visit from the Easter Bunny!

Hello!

I hope you are all keeping busy whilst you’re at home!

Worlaby Mouse and I have been really busy getting some

jobs around the house done in between doing some school

work. Last week, we made

Worlaby Mouse a new bag to

go home in. I taught Worlaby

Mouse how to use a sewing

machine, making sure he was

careful not to stitch his paws!

We used some lovely, red,

flowery fabric and he even

has his name on it! Worlaby

Mouse can’t wait to show

you his new bag! During the lovely weather we have had

this week, I tidied up my garden and Worlaby Mouse helped

me to dig the weeds out from between the paving slabs.

While doing this we found a little cater-

pillar! We put the caterpillar in the bush

so he had lots of leaves to eat. In the

lovely weather my kitten, Dave, has

been exploring the garden for the first

time. He is a little scared of all the nois-

es but he has been following my other

cat, Max, around and trying to chase

the butterflies. Luckily he isn’t fast

enough to catch them! We’ve done

some baking too to keep us going

through the work we are doing. To make sure we are stay-

ing active and healthy, we have been doing our daily exer-

cise by walking or cycling near my house. In the evenings, I

have started watching some films. I have watched Lady

and the Tramp, Wreck it Ralph, Aladdin and some superhe-

ro movies. I’m sure we will get up to more fun things next

week too! I wish you all health and happiness. Enjoy your

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all safe and well,

since school has finished I have

been keeping myself busy

by doing jobs around the house

and getting my parents and

their neighbours shopping each

week. Which sometimes has

been quite a challenge to get

the most random of things on

their lists!

I have also been taking my dog

Charlie for a walk everyday around my village. Both Charlie

and I love this as the weather has been so sunny recently and

it is so good to get out in the fresh air. Whilst on our walk we

have seen some fantastic colourful rainbow art work that

children have been displaying in their windows. My niece Orla

drew a picture with my husband, Charlie and myself in it. The

drawing is proudly being displayed in my window for everyone

to see. Maybe you would like to create a rainbow picture and

place them in your windows. I'm sure people walking by would

love to see them.

I am missing being at Worlaby with you all and hopefully we

will all be to-

gether

as a family

soon.

Dear Ada, Jack, Junior, Bea, Miley, James, Kyle and Isabelle!

Mrs Hanly is missing you all very much; Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays seem very strange at the minute not coming to

school to see you.

I hope you are all enjoying the lovely sunshine, getting lots of fresh air and having fun with your families! I look forward to hearing

all about what you have been doing when I next see or hear from you.

You might remember me telling you about my little boy who is called Eddie and is the same age as you..he's been keeping me

busy at home along with his baby sister Elena. We have been doing some Cosmic yoga on YouTube in the mornings - Eddie real-

ly likes the Spiderman one - have you managed to try any of those yet and if so, which ones do you like the best ?

We have also been doing some baking this week and we made some delicious chocolate concrete to have with custard on

Sunday - it is like a chocolate biscuit which has been chopped up into pieces - very nice!

Eddie has been reading to me every day and we have been practising the tricky words songs on YouTube (which keep getting

stuck in my head so whenever I am cooking tea or tidying up I start singing it!) I was telling him how good you all are at reading

too and that you also know the tricky word songs!

I hope you are all happy, well and looking after your Mummy's, Daddys, brothers and sisters.

And before I go...Happy Easter !

Hello everyone!

Firstly, I hope you are all well and looking after yourselves! Well

done for staying indoors and protecting each other, I am really

proud of each one of you, I know it is difficult to do, but you

are helping to save lives and that is just amazing! Hopefully,

you have all been busy with your home learning packs, doing

a bit each day. Equally, it is just as important that you spend

time doing things you enjoy such as baking, building a den,

playing in the garden, watching a film or maybe even reading

a book!

I have been very busy this week! I managed to successfully

bake my very own Peppa Pig cakes (they didn’t last very long!)

and I even decorated them with chocolate icing- Yummy! My

next baking venture is going to be chocolate brownies, so I will

let you know how they turn out next week! Hopefully the smoke

alarm won’t go off this time!!

On Tuesday, I created a rainbow picture and placed it in the

window of my front room. I know that many of you will have

created your own rainbow designs and it has been so lovely to

see the different pictures all around the village, supporting the

amazing people that work for the NHS and caring agencies.

On Thursday’s I have been joining in with the rest of the country

by clapping on my door step at 8pm to thank these fantastic

people, I’m sure you have been too!

On Friday, I walked a fair distance to Tesco in order to get my

weekly essentials. It was good to finally have a chance to ap-

preciate the beautiful surroundings as well as the lovely weath-

er. My legs however were not so grateful! I was aching for a

few days! I have found that going out and exercising once a

day is helping to keep myself active and my mind feeling fresh.

I am sure many of you have been doing this too by watching

His work outs are very intense so well done if you have man-

a g e d a n y o f t h e s e , k e e p i t u p !

Whilst I was in Tesco, I bought something VERY exciting…The

brand new David Walliams book! This one is called ‘Slime’ and

I cannot WAIT to share it with you all. I’m sure we are in for a

treat!

I have missed you all very much and you’re always in my

thoughts! Keep working hard, having fun and most of all, make

sure you stay safe. Speak to you soon!

Hi,

Hope you are staying safe and enjoying the sunshine

in your gardens.

It is extremely hard to know what to write to you all, I

miss seeing your smiling faces.

We often wish we had more time to spend with our

families, now we do now, keep smiling, have some

fun if you can. I’m looking forwards to make some

mischief when we get back to school (don’t tell Mrs

Hatton).

I’m trying to keep busy walking my dogs, doing some

gardening (they are not helping) and have done a

little bit of sewing. Doing so courses too .

Hello Class 2 and Hello to anyone else in school reading this!

The first thing to say is I hope everyone is well and keeping safe at

home with your family. I’ve been thinking about you all and hope you

are managing to be outside at your house, enjoying the fresh air and

bright, dry days! I hope you are making good choices at home with

your grown-ups and brothers and sisters. I know it is hard being stuck at

home, but time will pass quicker if we listen and know that everyone is

just at home and can’t go anywhere, just the same as you!

I hope you are keeping a diary of what you do; you all know how we all

like to hear everyone talking about time away from school, so keep a

reminder in your writing books!

Just starting into our third week, I’ve been very busy working at home

with reading books! Before I left school on the Friday evening when we

closed, I boxed up the entire schools’ reading books from the shelves in

the corridor and brought them all home to sort through! It took me most

of the first week, but now they are all on a list, sorted out and some

relabelled – what a job!

I have been spending time with my own family too. Charlotte, Isabel

and I have done the PE sessions with Joe Wicks every day, then they do

their schoolwork and I do mine.

We have all taken turns with cooking in my house, making delicious

pies, cakes and our own pasta. We have completed lots of jobs in the

garden - cleaning out the greenhouse, weeding and painting the

fence. Mr Clark, Charlotte and Isabel made a great crazy golf hole and

scored holes in one and completed a knock down golf challenge. I

have played chess again for the first time in many years and won some

as well as lost some!

We have made a Lego rainbow to put up in our window, to show ‘our

hope’ and we have joined in with the ‘clapping for all carers and key

workers’ on a Thursday evening.

Very importantly, I phone or use the computer to contact other people

in my family and my friends, to say hello. I hope you are all doing this

with your families and friends.

I can’t wait to hear what you have all been up to!

Hello All,

I hope you are coping well, or are you driving your parents mad

yet?

I have been taking the opportunity to take my dog, Buster, on

some particularly long walks. Mind you, I’m not sure he is enjoying

them as much as I am, I’m beginning to think he wishes I was

back at work so he can get some rest!!!

On one dog walking occasion, my son Aaron and myself came

across a young stray, black dog. A young stray, black dog with a

collar on BUT NO TAG WITH CONTACT DETAILS ON. After numer-

ous phone calls, we finally managed to get it to safety until the

(irresponsible) dog owner collected it the following morning.

We have done some baking, as I’m sure many of you may have

done, although the shortage of flour in the supermarkets is making

that very difficult now. And to you Erin Briggs – yes, I am most defi-

nitely going to be making your biscuits!!

Sunday morning was quite eventful at our house. After leaving

the back door open due to the lovely weather, a rather large

pigeon decided to pop in and sit itself on my kitchen windowsill,

not what I was expecting. After flapping around, (the pigeon, not

me), and trying unsuccessfully to catch it, it then decided to fly up

to a ledge above my cooker and sit watching us from a safe dis-

tance, not helpful. With a wafting of a tea towel, it made its way

back to the windowsill, only to sit at the window I hadn’t opened

– again, not helpful. Finally managed to open that window and

shoo it out, only after it had pooped on my blinds – again, not

helpful.

We have managed to drag the table tennis table out from the

depths of the garage however, this may cause more arguments

than enjoyment I fear!!!

The shed has been painted to within an inch of its life, now just

need to do the same to the fence panels. Although I am strug-

gling to find the motivation for this.

I hope your time at home has been interesting and exciting.

Don’t forget to make time to play those board games you maybe

never get time to play or have a book on the go. I notice David

Walliams has brought out a new book recently, which I am quite

sure will be equally as good as all his previous ones.

Look after yourselves and each other.

Here is a little update from our time at home so far.

We have had a little visitor in the garden, our very

own little bunny! It seems to like living in our garden

& we see it hopping around the garden every day,

Freya & Lottie have given it a name, can you guess

what it might be?!....its Easter! Our very own Easter

bunny!

We've also been

baking a very spe-

cial blueberry pie

together, we ate it

last summer & en-

joyed it so much

we baked our

own! Freya & Lottie

liked weighing out

the ingredients &

especially liked

getting their hands messy squashing the pastry to-

gether to make the dough! But the best part was

eating it af-

work, yum!

Hi there Jessica has been busy keeping up with

reading (loving black beauty early reader at the

moment) and big maths sheets (thank you) she

also did a spring scene pic using some cotton

wool and felt and tissue paper!! Photo attached

Hello Everyone, hope you and your fami-

ly’s are all well and staying safe.

It’s been strange going over to the school

and checking on things and no one be-

ing there.

I’ve been keeping busy though doing

Joe Wicks every morning as he sets me

up for my day ahead. I even did the fan-

cy dress Friday.

I have been going out for my daily exer-

cise as well—I have seen a few of you

about and it has been nice chatting

(from a distance of course).

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping well and staying safe!

I thought I’d write and tell you what’s been happening in our

house since school closed. The first week was very exciting for us

as Joe our son was flying back home after spending a year in the

Caribbean on a cruise ship performing in a musical called Grease

playing the role of Kenickie. We could not wait to see him and

have him home safe with us. The house is normally quite quiet but

not when Joe is here but it is lovely to hear him practising his sing-

ing and he is teaching himself how to play the Ukulele and doing

very well.

I celebrated my birthday that week it was very strange not being

able to see my friends & family but they face timed me that night

and sang Happy Birthday to me which was lovely and I received

lots of messages. Ellie helped me bake a chocolate orange birth-

day cake but I did not get to eat much of it as Ellie & Joe said it

was just delicious!

Ellie is becoming the star baker in our house we’ve had banana

bread and cookies with no help from me at all, she would like to

start learning to cook lots of different things for us now, she is busy

with work for college that they have sent her and hopefully she

will start in September.

We have been keeping ourselves busy during the day walking

our dog Max down the river and bike riding. We had a karaoke

competition last Saturday night which was great fun and this

week we have been watching a different musical together after

tea. Tonight we are watching the Lion King.

Really hoping we see each other soon as I am missing school very

much and seeing all of you.

Dear All,

I have been continuing to complete all my

office work from home, whilst at the same

time playing at being a teacher to my 3

children. We have made use of some of the

websites, which has been fun. We have

taken the opportunity to bake and learn

how to make pasta from flour and eggs!

We also had to bake a 70th Birthday cake for

my Dad because his surprise birthday party

was cancelled. We lit the candles on the

cake and contacted as many as we could

using Facetime and WhatsApp and all sang

Happy Birthday together.

Erin and Meredith have been having their

dance lessons using Zoom, the teacher can

watch them and make sure that they are

doing everything right. Because they are

the only ones in the class that have a part-

ner they have had to demonstrate to the

rest of the class.

Now it is the Easter holidays my children are

having a well-earned break from schooling

and I am able to concentrate a little easier!

On an evening we have been walking the

dog around our fishery and doing lots of

gardening whilst the weather is nice. I think

my dog will be sad when things return to

normal as he is enjoying the extra attention

he gets when everyone is at home. I have

paid special attention to my Raspberry

plants as I love to eat them and make

enough jam to last me all year.

The most important thing is that we have

been staying home!

Dear Class 4.

I hope you are well and keeping busy in these very differ-

ent times. Your home learning packs have probably been com-

pleted or are almost completed. Y6 have the revision books and

we said to start the 2nd half of those after the Easter break. More

work will be sent through after the Easter break in the form of

online maths lessons and other projects to work on.

An amazing complaint letter to President Snow from Kat-

niss was sent to me and I really enjoyed it ̶ the same person sent

me a fantastic poem too. If any of you wish to send me anything

that you’ve been working on, you can send it to in-

fo@worlabyacademy.org.uk and it will be forwarded on to me. I

really enjoyed reading the letter and the poem because most of

what I’ve been reading has been government advice and Delta

policies! I would love to read more of your work, open PPT’s or see

photos of your projects so that I still feel like a teacher!

I have had to try a few new things since I last saw you;

online video conferencing is not something that I’m used to but

that’s happening every other day. I’ve also had to learn how to

cut hair as my Jamie’s hair was due a cut in the Easter holiday. As

you can imagine, a twelve-year-old boy doesn’t want his dad to

cut his hair, but it didn’t turn out too badly. At least it wasn’t a

bowl cut like I used to have! We’ve also made use of a portable

table tennis net that we bought Joseph for Christmas and our din-

ing room is transformed into a table tennis competition every day,

which hasn’t helped my dodgy left knee but is keeping us fit!

Delta admin work has kept me busy, mainly working on

an exciting book-based curriculum for the Grimsby cluster of

schools, helping to put together a sequence of English, science, DT

and history work for the Y6 Evolution topic and Y3 DT linked to the

Ancient Egyptians. I’ve also read Floodland, which was due to be

read by Y6 in the Summer term.

I’ve been very lucky too as my favourite band released a

new album at the end of March so there’s new music to enjoy and

new lyrics to learn. Not that I can sing successfully along to the

vocal lines, but it’s fun trying. The album was started in 2017 and

they worked on the songs over the past few years, but the lyrics

are somewhat eerily relevant to our current worldwide situation of

isolation and hope:

‘Numbers keep falling off the calendar’s wall. Stuck in our

boxes, windows open no more.’

‘It’s alright to be alone, to listen for a heartbeat, it’s your

own.’

‘Stars align they say when, things are better than right

now. It’s gonna take much more than ordinary love to lift this up.’

It’s quite profound when you think about it; inspiring and

uplifting. Keep your spirits up, enjoy the Easter break, stay safe and

we’ll meet up again.
