OUR AIMS AND PURPOSE• Teaching artisan food skills• Producing employable graduates• Raising self-esteem and aspirations in students• Education about the food system, the environment, the social and cultural

context of food production and the importance of healthy eating

OUR CHARITABLE ACTIVITIESThe School of Artisan Food is a registered charity whose activities include: • Fundraising for bursaries• Working with disadvantaged areas in the East Midlands and beyond, and in

particular ex-mining communities, areas of high unemployment with a low uptake of tertiary education

• Providing a route into education and employment• Working with a wide range of abilities• Combating rural isolation• Providing an independent forum to discuss all aspects of the food system • Working with local schools and colleges

• Since September 2009 over 5,000 students have attended over 400 short courses• Short course duration from ½ day to 15 days• Short courses in baking, patisserie, cheese making, butchery, chocolate, brewing, preserving and pickling• Three course levels; entry, intermediate and professional• Attended by enthusiastic amateurs, career changers, teachers and industry professionals.
