Indigo Sustainable PortfoliosCompositionOur security selection criteriacan include alignment in thestrategic areas of environmen-tal, social and governance(ESG) factors as well as ESGmateriality and momentum. The Indigo team uses a newbreed of ESG research thatanalyzes financial and nonfi-nancial factors which aredesigned to identify ESG risksor opportunities that may notbe captured through conven-tional analyses.

We use the best of MorganStanley's fundamental andquantitative financial researchas well as in-depth ESG analy-sis on a number of metrics foreach company. We can now

review abundant researchdocumenting the effects oncorporate performance andvalues of nonfinancial factors, such as gender diversity, which can no longer beignored in portfolio construc-tion.

Our portfolios are construct-ed of 25-35 individual publicly-traded equities and exchangetraded funds. We offer fossil-fuel free options as well asportfolios that include a "best-in-class" approach using allsectors of the economy. Wealso incorporate a genderscreen to ensure women arerepresented on the board ofdirectors of each company in

our portfolio. New researchindicates that gender diversityon boards and top manage-ment teams is a material ESGfactor in all industries.

In addition, we use technicalanalysis from Dorsey-Wright,a leading research provider, which evaluates the simpleeconomics pertaining to eachsecurity. This time-testedapproach offers valuableinsight as a logical, organizedway of assessing the forces ofsupply and demand. When allis said and done, if there aremore buyers than sellers will-ing to sell, the stock price willmove higher.

Environmental, Social andGovernance (ESG) IntegrationEach client is unique; this istrue regarding financial consid-erations as well as how ourclients choose to integratetheir personal values or insti-tutional mission into portfolioconstruction. These "impactpriorities" reflect an individualor institution’s worldview, val-ues, mission, investmentobjectives and more.

For a growing number of ourclients, integrating impact pri-orities into their investmentdecision making is increasinglyimportant. This is the basis forMorgan Stanley’s Portfolio

Impact Alignment which lever-ages proprietary company-level environmental, socialand governance data providedby MSCI ESG Research, athird-party research firm and amarket leader for company-level ESG data.

The Portfolio ImpactAlignment is a point-in-timeinvestment analysis tool thatempowers clients to viewtheir portfolio from a newperspective - through the lensof a comprehensive set offourteen ESG metrics that arematerial across most indus-

tries and geographies, fiveexposures across key riskareas and seven themes forwhich a defined approach to aparticular theme is availableand generally accepted.

Through a licensing agree-ment with MSCI, we build aholistic view of the significantESG issues a company faces,as well as its industry contextand peer analysis. This ratingsystem is further designed toidentify the financial relevanceof ESG factors, which helpswith our commitment toachieving market-rate returns.
