News-Time October-2018

We are happy to place the inaugural issue o f ICFAI University, Jaipur – News-Time! This newsletter is a culmination of hard work, determination and grit of the staff members and students working together for making this University better. Last three months have been eventful as the new President has taken over.

The developments at University have gained momentum; infrastructure set-up has gone for major expansion including operational hostels, new Science Block nearing completion, new sports arena with full-fledged football and cricket ground etc. But most importantly, these three months have witnessed the enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation amongst the faculty and staff members from different areas. So much so, there are number of new initiatives like PhD Program re-launched, faculty-to-faculty knowledge sharing program, faculty mentorship, free hour and many more…

Number of seminars and short conferences were organized, and a range of co-scholastic activities and events were carried out. Finally new horizons… new expectations… and new opportunities shall dominate ICFAI University, Jaipur in near future.

We are pretty confident that ICFAI University, Jaipur will surely attain its due place in higher education in the state of Rajasthan.

5-day long orientation program was organized for the new batch of MBA (2018-20). Objective of

this induction program was to introduce the students to IBS philosophy and make them understand

the purpose of academic advisement and course selection.

Dr. Shweta Jain was felicitated with IBSAF Best Teacher Award and Dr. Rahul Swami awarded

for Best Institution Building Contribution

Student Activities and Achievements

Students of ICFAI Law School, Jaipur organized "Organ Donation Awareness Campaign" wherein all

the members were briefed about relevant information pertaining to organ donation. The members

pledged to contribute to humanity through organ donation.

Rajasthan Hackathon, a digifest organised by Govt. of Rajasthan was held from 26 July 2018 to 27

July 2018. Innovative idea of student team from Icfai Tech School was selected. Mr. Himanshu

Choudhary, Ms Devanshi Jain, Mr. Jagdish Prasad Saini, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena, students of 4th

year B.Tech. (Computer Science and Engineering) and Mr. Khitij Pandey, student of 2nd year B.Sc.

Physics (Hons.) created an app "Police Mitra", made to help police and citizens by making a faster

way to report issues and file complaints. Users also can verify the criminal records of their

domestic help and workers on this app.

Mr. Khitij Pandey, student of 2nd year B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) has submitted

his paper on 30th August 2018 in National Student Space Challenge 2018, an

event organized in collaboration by IIT Kharagpur and ISRO. He is amongst the

12 finalists at National Level .

NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international competition organized by

NASA every year. This year JIMS, Jaipur hosted pre-qualifiers for NASA

Space Apps Challenge Competition. It was 24 hours non-stop coding event.

Two teams “Battle Field” and “Spartam” from ICFAI University, Jaipur

participated in the event. Battle Field had two members: Mahendra Pratap and

Amit Bohra. Spartam had four members : Hritik Chaturvedi, Piyush Mathur, Shrikant Sharma and

Tinku Kumar. The team “Battle Field” developed an app “Scholar Alert” which would serve helpful to

students for awareness and updates regarding scholarships. The second team “Spartam”

developed an app “Sara (flood locating app)” designed to help people identify flood and water level

related threats.

Ms. Nicol Andrade from MBA Second Year participated in All Saints

International Model United Nations 2.0 competition of delegate’s debate at

Ajmer and secured High Commendation in the committee of 25 countries

with double delegation in ICC committee representing INDIA (BCCI). She was awarded Merit

Certificate, trophy and cash prize of Rs. 8,000.

Mr. Ankit Sharma from MBA Second Year received 100% sponsorship for

International Educational Convention to Tashkant, Russia as a reward for

outperformance as Summer Intern at UAS International.

Faculty Achievements

Dr. Avinash Gupta successfully completed Faculty Development Program

(FDP) at IIM Indore from 16 April to 23 May, 2018. He also attended 9th

International Conference on Excellence in Research & Education from May 3 to May 6, 2018 at IIM

Indore.

Dr. R K Chaurasia will serve as International Technical Committee Member

of 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Communication, Control and

Devices (ICICCD-2018) to be held on December 21-22, 2018 at University of Petroleum & Energy

Studies, Dehradun, India. He is sharing the committee with the people from prestigious institutes

like IITs, NITs, IISc, ISRO and Universities from Canada, South Africa, Spain, Germany etc.

` Dr. Rana Mukherji served as Technical Committee Member (TCM) for 2nd

International Conference on Industrial Automation, Robotics and Control Engineering held in

Stockholm, Sweden on 21-23, September 2018. He was among the 4 Indian TCMs from the Asian

Zone. He also received invitation for being expert reviewer for 2nd International Conference on

Advanced Computational and Communication Paradigms (ICACCP-2019), co-sponsored by IEEE

Kolkata Section, India, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Kolkata chapter and CSI Kolkata

Section and Head Quarter, India to be held on February 25-28, 2019 at Manipal Institute of

Technology, Sikkim, India.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) established under the guidance and supervision of Dr.

The M.Tech. Program (Computer Science) of the ICFAI University, Jaipur is designed to encourage

the future professionals to equip themselves with the latest tools and techniques in the field of

Computer Science and Information Technology.

Masters of Computer Application

The primary emphasis in MCA is on designing information systems for various organizations in

diverse sectors. The major thrust is on giving the students a sound background in computing,

business functioning and mathematics relevant to information technology. The curriculum has a

strong core covering information technology, business management and mathematics.

MBA in Integrated Rural Management

To prepare talented young managers to assume challenge-filled responsibilities in rural cooperatives

and development organizations, ICFAI University, Jaipur is launching MBA in Rural Management. It

would provide a wide spectrum of high quality courses with a greater focus on experiential learning.

The curriculum will comprise of four distinct yet mutually supportive segments - classroom, village
