I was thinking that perhaps her husband was in the hospital. But she said, “Two airline jets flew into the World Trade Center towers.” I was still kind of groggy and said, “Okay, I’ll turn on the T.V.” I woke very quickly as soon as I saw the tragic destruction. But as much as the destruction, it was the panic and terror in the hearts of the people of New York City and everywhere. The original targets were the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the White House. The terrorists wished to destroy the financial, military, and political centers of the United States, in order to humiliate America and demoralize its citizens. Fifteen years later, terrorism has not stopped, and has even spread to other countries. Violence in our own nation has escalated. But still we endure as a nation. And while we have many problems, we still have a dogged determination to overcome and even triumph. I believe that this comes from the fabric of America being a deeply spiritual one. Church attendance has dropped everywhere, and fewer people identify as people of faith, but the spiritual center of America remains intact. During biblical times, there were many periods of destruction and uncertainty. There were many periods when people were unfaithful and turned away from God. But there has always been a faithful remnant that has endured and kept faith alive. During this month and always, don’t lose hope, don’t lose faith, even when it seems that times are worsening, and God seems silent. The Spirit of Christ is a constant, and terrorists and others may try to destroy the human centers of our lives, but they will never get to our souls. Praise be the God! Ministry Musings by Pastor Tom Choi 9/11 – FIFTEEN YEARS LATER

At 3:30 a.m. on September 11, 2001, I was awakened by a phone call from a church member.

Serving table will be set up.

2. Provide simple, easy to serve finger food type snacks requiring little to no plating. It would be helpful if you could provide refreshments around 9:00 am for the early morning service and 10:45 am for the second service.
