Description of the Prime Minister

• A prime minister is described as the most senior minister of a cabinet in the executive, or highest, branch of government in a parliamentary system. Most prime ministers are part of a political party, but not all must be politicians.

stand for decriminalization of marijuana in Canada.

• Name: John Turner• Birthday: June 7, 1929 • 17th Prime Minister of Canada • The Prime Minister before him was Pierre Trudeau• The Prime Minister after him was Brian Mulroney• He served from June 30, 1984 to September 17, 1984 only

served 80 days.• He is the oldest living former Prime Minister.• According to Canadian protocol, as a former Prime

Minister, he is styled "The Right Honourable" for life.

• John was born in England and was a lawyer in Montréal. Lester Pearson brought him into the liberal party.

• In 1968 he ran for the first time for the leadership of the liberals. He finished third.

• In 1972 he became the finance minister• He attended UBC and received a B.A. in 1949• He also attended Oxford University, a Rhodes Scholar, and

received B.A. in 1951 and a B.C.L. in 1952 and a M.A. in 1957.

• He also attended University of Paris from 1952-1953

1983.• Kim was the first woman as the Minister of National Defence and Veterans Affairs• Her first prime-minister ship was during an election in the fall of 1993.• In fact, she had served in four cabinet portfolios prior to running for the leader of the

party. • It is said that she had more experience than more than half of the men who were

prime-minister before her including Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney, who had no cabinet experience at all.

• Many people thought she would last considering she had more experience than: Pierre Trudeau who had only 1 year prior experience.

• Kim Campbell was well aware that her duty as the Prime Minister was not up to task, and she was loosing votes and she put together a bunch of Jean Chretien ads.

• Kim was the first and youngest female prime minister to leave and enter office.

• Kim Campbell was very strongly against sexual assault. She clarified the sexual assault law and it was dubbed “No means No”.
