The Gift by Jerry Maurer
A fter a childhood bout with
rheumatic fever, my mother was
not expected to survive into her
teens, much less marry and have
children. But she lived well into
her sixties and welcomed 21
grandchildren into the family. As
the youngest of six children, I
watched my mother make baby
booties and a tiny gown each time
one of her daughters or daughters
-in-law announced an upcoming
birth.
The first time my oldest sister
came for a visit after my wife and
I discovered we were going to be
parents, she gave us a present to
celebrate. Smiling, she told us
that the gift was from our mother,
who had died six years before. We
were startled as we opened the
gift from someone who no longer
lived on earth but who loved us
and our unborn daughter. My
thoughtful mom had fashioned
booties and a gown and left them
with my sister to give to us at the
right time.
Mom's gift reminded me that
Jesus offers each of us the gift of
forgiveness and eternal life-even
many centuries after his death.
No gift can be redeemed until it is
accepted. Let our acts of giving,
whether of time or talent, be a
strong reminder of the gift given
to us by someone who died many
years ago but whose death and
resurrection brought us new life.
PS. Mom, Laura looked great
coming home from the hospital in
the garments you made. You
would be so proud of your 22
grandchildren and the fact that
all 22 have accepted "The Gift."
Thank you Mom!

The Mission Statement of SonRise Christian Fellowship
Bringing people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,
gathering them together as a worshipping community,
growing them up as his life-long disciples,
and sending them out as ministers of the Gospel for the sake of the world.
B ehold, how good and how pleasant
it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his
garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing, life forevermore. Psalm 133:1-3

What’s the Buzz?
“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37,38
Brewing a buzz for new biz, beans at Fallbrook Coffee Co. Tim O’Leary
For many at our church,
the past few weeks have been
spent brewing a buzz over our
newest ministry – the
Fallbrook Coffee Co.
SonRise Christian Fellow-
ship staff and a cadre of volun-
teers have watched in awe of
God’s grace as we closed escrow
on the coffee shop at South
Mission Road and Fallbrook
Street and witnessed a string
of blessings large and small. A
long list of tasks awaited vol-
unteers and paid staff when
the shop closed for a brief tran-
sitional period.
There was sweeping and
painting and adding interior
barn wood trim. There was a
daylong training session on the
temperatures, thicknesses and
other nuances of gourmet coffee
and espresso. New signs were
created and installed. Choco-
late-colored t-shirts imprinted
with a coffee pot logo arrived
just in time for opening day on
April 15.
The first customers includ-
ed a men’s Bible study group
from Riverview Church in Bon-
sall.
It wasn’t long before the
parking lot was crammed and
patrons were buzzing about the
three new brews purchased
from Klatch Coffee Inc., which
has won numerous awards and
prides itself on gleaning from
just the top 1 percent of beans
grown worldwide.
Although the shop was
closed that day, more than 50
free samples of the shop’s new
brews were distributed during
the popular Avocado Festival in
town.
The shop’s Board of Direc-
tors, which makes recommen-
dations to the church Session,
met for the first time in their
new headquarters and home.
The board members are Greg
Coppock, SonRise associate
pastor, Roy Callahan, Tom
Dumont, Jeff Graflund and An-
drew Ice, who is serving as
shop’s volunteer interim gen-
eral manager.
During a break in some of
the interior work, Ice said he
was thrilled with the progress
being made. He also noted the
receptiveness among customers
and the community to the
church’s ownership of the shop
and its operation as an out-
reach ministry. “It’s definitely
building a buzz,” he said.
Then the shop closed again
– for two days – over the Easter
weekend. Several volunteers,
including Coppock and mem-
bers of his Saturday morning
Bible study group, helped with
landscaping, sweeping and oth-
er tasks.
The painters attacked the
exterior wood trim and an exca-
vation contractor removed a
row of overgrown hedges that
had blocked the view of the
shop.
Ice took a moment to pon-
der some of the encounters that
had occurred while the shop
was closed. Numerous existing
or new customers stopped by to
praise the church’s purchase of
the shop or applaud efforts to
improve its appearance, hospi-
tality and coffee quality.
He recalled one young fam-
ily that stopped by. They were
new in town, looking for a
church to attend and were
thrilled that Sonrise would
reach out to the community in
such a manner. Ice said he in-
vited them to worship with us
at Easter and beyond.
“It was just a cool confir-
mation that what we’re plan-
ning to do is happening al-
ready,” he mused.

The Story Behind
The Song, “Jesus
Draw Me Close” by Rick Founds
J esus draw me close;
Closer, Lord, to You.
Let the world around
me fade away.
Jesus, draw me close;
Closer, Lord, to You.
For I desire to worship and
obey.
You're not happy when they
arrive. They are certainly NOT
welcome. The sooner they're
gone, the better. We all have
them. No, I'm not talking
about the obnoxious relative,
or that certain "difficult" per-
son at work, but the trials that
seem to invade our lives at the
least opportune moment... The
bad day... The tough week at
work... The year you'd just as
soon erase from your life... Or
those times of loss, which are
annoying at best, and tragic at
worst... when you lose your car
keys... or your job... or a close
friend ... Or member of the
family.
It was during one of “those”
weeks, that the song, "JESUS
DRAW ME CLOSE" was born.
The flu was going around, eve-
rybody was suffering with it,
and I had been blessed with a
"double portion". The car had
decided to self-destruct, activi-
ties at work were busier than
normal, expectations were
high, energy and inspiration
were low... I was not having a
good week. I sat in my office,
in an old and ugly, but very
comfortable stuffed chair. (a
cherished garage sale acquisi-
tion.) Nestled in my favorite
"reading space", with Alka-
Seltzer fizzing in the glass
nearby and my Bible, I picked
up where I had left off in the
Book of Psalms....
Psalm 42
"As the deer pants for streams
of water, so my soul pants for
you, O God. My soul thirsts for
God, for the living God. When
can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food
day and night, while men say
to me all day long, 'Where is
your God?' These things I re-
member as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go with the mul-
titude, leading the procession
to the house of God, wit shouts
of joy and thanksgiving among
the festive throng. Why are
you downcast, O my soul? Why
so disturbed within me? Put
your hope in God, for I will yet
praise him, my Savior and my
God... By day the LORD di-
rects his love, at night his song
is with me-- a prayer to the
God of my life."
It was perfect. Just what I
needed. The Lord, in His quiet
and gentle way, was reminding
me once again, that in this
world of constantly changing
circumstances, there is a place
in the presence of the un-
changing God, where I can go
at any time. A little further
pursuit in the short concord-
ance at the back of my Bible,
directed me to other reassur-
ances of how close God was to
me at that very moment; and
the ease with which I could

From The Heart Jesus Draw Me Close

draw near to Him...
Psalm 145:18 "The LORD is
near to all who call on him, to
all who call on him in truth."
Isaiah 55:6 "Seek the LORD
while he may be found; call on
him while he is near."
Psalm 73:28 "But as for me, it
is good to be near God. I have
made the Sovereign LORD my
refuge; I will tell of all your
deeds."
The profound simplicity of this
truth prompted a simple and
honest prayer;
"JESUS, DRAW ME
CLOSE... CLOSER LORD,
TO YOU. LET THE WORLD
AROUND ME FADE AWAY."
... Picking up my guitar, I put
the prayer to an equally simple
melody, and concluded with;
"..... FOR I DESIRE TO
WORSHIP, AND OBEY."
At the Bible Study that even-
ing, the little musical prayer
seemed to strike a resonant
chord in the hearts of the peo-
ple. They quickly picked up the
melody, and proceeded to make
the prayer their own.
Rick has been leading wor-
ship since he was fourteen
years of age. He has au-
thored numerous songs that
are used in worship services
around the world. Some ti-
tles include:
"Lord I Lift Your Name On

Mighty God", "I Love Your
Grace" and "Jesus Draw

From the Desk of Beth Ann Murray W ith Spring Time
Comes Renewal.
Now is the Time to re-
fresh our relationships
with God, Family and
Friends!
“I have learned that to
have a good friend is the
purest of all God’s gifts,
for it is a love that has no
exchange of payment.”
Francis Farmer
Kids ask the most simple, yet
incredibly complex questions—
especially at church. With
Summer just around the cor-
ner and before we go into mak-
ing friends and being a good
friend. Let’s be prepared to
answer some quick questions
for three common—but
tough—areas of faith.
Who is God?
We can't see God, but God is
real.
God is totally good and perfect;
God is full of love.
God especially loves you.
God is the most powerful and
the smartest; God made every-
thing.
God will forgive you for the
things you’ve done wrong.
God wants you to be with Him
forever in heaven.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God when God was on
Earth.
Jesus is the only one who can
save us from the things we do
wrong.
Jesus is the only way to God
and heaven.
Jesus wants to be your friend.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is God on
Earth after Jesus went back to
heaven.
The Holy Spirit is here on
Earth.
The Holy Spirit is God with
you—like the perfect best
friend.
God is our friend and
wants to help us be a
good friend too.
The Bible says that “a friend is
always loyal.” How do we en-
sure that kids create friend-
ships that honor God? Friend-
ships are increasingly im-
portant as children reach ele-
mentary-age, and our ministry
here at SonRise can have a
huge influence on children’s
ability to build friendships.
Here’s how we do it, on Sun-
day’s, kids events and other
activities.
Set clear rules.
We involve kids in setting the
rules about how to treat oth-
ers. Limit the number of rules
by making general rules that
cover several actions, such as
“respect each other,” rather
than “no name calling”, and
“no teasing.”
Help kids develop
empathy.
This is a big one for me as an
educator. Children this age
are able to understand others’
feelings and points of view, so
discuss with kids how they
think someone may’ve felt or
why they think someone acted
a certain way.
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God”….And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:14,16
May 2014 The Chimes page 7
.
Give kids practice
in problem-solving
and cooperation.
Emphasize activities
and games that require
teamwork. Use follow-
up questions such as:
In what ways did your
team work well togeth-
er? What might you do
differently next time?
Encourage kids to
express
appreciation.
Include regular oppor-
tunities for children to
offer and receive affir-
mation. And model
this behavior—by say-
ing things such as “I
appreciate the way you
reached out to make
our new friend feel wel-
come today”
I charge all of you
this summer to be a
good friend and let
God’s greatest gift
to us know how
precious they are
in our lives.

Interview with
S hayli
Coppock
How has your first few
months been working in
the youth ministry?
My first few months working
with the youth have been great!
Each week is different and it's
really cool to be a part of this
ministry.
What was something
about the youth staff that
surprised you as you got
to work alongside them
more and more?
Something that surprised me
about working with the youth
staff is how funny they are!
We've had some good laughs
and fun times getting to know
each other!
How would you describe
working with the youth
at Onelife and
Breakaway ?
I think working with the youth
is fun and rewarding. The kids
are great and unique. It's been
cool building relationships with
some awesome middle school
and high schoolers. I think my
favorite part is the relation-
ships that I'm now making
with everyone and being able to
be a source of support and love
for some of these kids, that's
really awesome.
A lot of our readers have
never been to our youth
programs. How would
you describe what goes
on down there?
Oh man a lot of energy is there!
Kids running around, playing
games, laughing, singing,
dancing, and most importantly
learning more about God and
growing closer with each other.
What is something about
yourself that everyone
needs to know?
Such a hard question! I love
music obviously, and I think I
would qualify as a little nerdy.
I love everything from Star
Wars and X-men to Harry Pot-
ter and Zelda.
You're such a talented
musician and worship
leader. How would you
describe what its like
leading worship?
I really can't describe it. It's
always been where I feel the
most connected to God in a way
that I don't feel any where else.
And It's an awesome blessing to
be able to look out and see peo-
ple entering into worship with
you. It's great.
What is worship to you?
Worship to me is expressing
your deepest feelings to God.
Whether it's great joy or even
sorrow, giving everything on
your heart to Jesus and ac-
knowledging His greatness. I
think anything can be a form of
worship but I think music is
such a powerful force that wor-
shipping with song can create
an even deeper connection.

M an up." "Be a
man." "He is such a
nice guy." These are
just a few words and
phrases that most
men have heard at
some point in their
journey through
life. So, what does it
mean to "man up," or
what does it mean to
"be a man," should all
men aspire to be nice
guys or do they, in
fact, finish last? Is it
okay for a man to ad-
mit he needs direc-
tions? How should a
husband act? Does a
dad really have that
much influence in the
lives of his kids? Does
driving a minivan tar-
nish a man's reputa-
tion?
T here are so many
questions and expec-
tations of what it
means to be a
man. Some expecta-
tions are valid others
are not. Where do
men go for answers to
the above ques-
t i ons? Sad ly,
Google, "how to"
books, movies and tel-
evision are the
sources many men use
to find answers. It is
essential that men
meet together in order
to sharpen each oth-
er along the journey of
life. See, iron does
sharpen iron.
W e have sever-
al opportunities here
at SonRise for men to
come together. On
Wedneday mornings
at 7 am Chuck Boat-
man leads a group in
the Chapel at the
church. Jerry Maurer
has led a men's group
for many years and
they gather at his
home. I lead a group
each Saturday mornin
g at 7 am at the
Fallbrook Coffee Com-
pany. In addition to
those groups, we are
always available to
meet in one on one
situations in order to
encourage, undergird
and just be there for
each other as men.
S o, what happens
in these meetings
w i t h t h e s e
men? Well, consisten-
cy is established, be-
havior is discussed,
examined, and en-
couraged and thus
trust is built. We
learn what it means
to build every aspect
of our lives on a solid
foundation. We strive
to understand and im-
plement what it
means to make and
keep vows, how to de-
fine and invest quality
time in all of our rela-
tionships, grasp and
rejoice in the reality of
b e i n g f o r g i v e n ,
and what it means to
follow The Way in or-
der to lead others.

Senior Moments
May Flower Fields
Today is the oldest you’ve ever been, yet
the youngest you’ll ever be, so enjoy this
day while it lasts.
Your kids are becoming you . . . but your grand-
children are perfect!
Going out is good. Coming home is better!
You forget names. But it's OK because other peo-
ple forgot they even knew you!!!
You realize you're never going to be really good at
anything . . . especially golf.
The things you used to care to do, you no longer
care to do, but you really do care that you don't
care to do them anymore.
You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV
blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
You miss the days when everything worked with
just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
You tend to use more 4 letter words . . . "what?" .
. . "when?"
Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's
not safe to wear it anywhere.
You notice everything they sell in stores is
"sleeveless"?
What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
Everybody whispers.
You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet . . . 2 of
which you will never wear.
But Old is good in some things: Old Songs,
Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!

“For as the earth brings forth its bud, as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” Is. 65:11
P astor Alex Gonzales
was born in a rural
city in Guatemala
called Soloma,
where the population is about
47,000 and the feel is very sim-
ilar to that of Fallbrook. He
grew up in a little house with
his parents and ten siblings. In
addition, his parents adopted
three other kids from the local
community.
Being raised in a hardworking
family, his first job was when
he was only seven years old,
gathering firewood on the
mountain so his family could
cook food. It was their only
source of fuel. For other work,
he would shine shoes in the
local park. He also helped his
mother in her Cocina, a small
restaurant. When he became a
teenager, he joined his siblings
in their import/export busi-
ness.
Alex’s spiritual journey began
at the age of sixteen, when a
local pastor invited him to
church. He prayed at that ser-
vice to receive Jesus as his
Lord and Savior. Up to that
point in his life, Alex says he
was doing bad things. The pas-
tor reached out to Alex, build-
ing a relationship with him,
discipling him, and teaching
him the Word of God. Alex’s
desires began to change and
instead of partying, he began
to serve in the church and even
learned to play guitar. He be-
gan to feel that God had a call
on his life to serve Him.
At the age of twenty-two, Alex
and his brother set out to come
to the United States. They
dreamed of making more mon-
ey and building a better life for
themselves. At that time, the
journey to America wasn’t as
dangerous as it is today. For
the most part, Alex’s journey
to the US was very peaceful. It
was a very long trip, taking
almost a full week, travelling
by busses, boats, and also on
foot. It wasn’t until they
crossed the border into the US
that the journey became peri-
lous to the point of almost los-
ing their lives. Without going
into specific detail, it was an
extremely traumatic end to
their journey. They finally ar-
rived in North San Diego
County, where they settled in
with a friend for the next eight
months.
Alex began attending a church
in the Rincon area where he
met and fell in love with
Grace, who later became his
wife. As they were building
their family, he once again felt
the call of God on his life and
he began studying to be a pas-
tor. In the year 2000, he was
ordained and was asked to
lead the church when the origi-
nal pastor left. Little did Alex
know, when he accepted that
call, that the entire congrega-
tion would be joining the other
pastor at his new church. De-
spite the lack of people,

The Importance of Prayer
by Charles R. Swindoll
O Lord, I beseech You, may
Your ear be attentive to the
prayer of Your servant and the
prayer of Your servants who
delight to revere Your name,
and make Your servant suc-
cessful today and grant him
compassion before this
man." —Nehemiah 1:11
F ather in heaven, we
call upon You today.
We know that You
are the Giver of all
good things . . . and that You
never change like shifting
shadows. We believe that Your
heart is moved when Your peo-
ple pray. So remind us, our Fa-
ther, as we bow before You,
that there is nothing more im-
portant we can do when facing
situations that are beyond
us . . . than to pray.
We remember that prayer forc-
es us to wait, and we must
learn to wait patiently for Your
timing. Prayer quiets our
hearts before You. The chaos
subsides and life seems to set-
tle down around us as we pray.
Prayer clears our vision, Fa-
ther, as we think about our
lives, as we ponder where
we're going, and as we pursue
Your will. May we walk with
You in such a way that our
obedience is revealed through
deeds that honor Your
name . . . even when that
means doing the hard things
You want us to do.
For those who are in a difficult
strait, under pressure, up
against a wall, facing a test—
perhaps the greatest in their
lives—we ask that You remind
them that the saint who ad-
vances on his or her knees nev-
er retreats. Help them remem-
ber that You are still on Your
throne and they are still at
Your footstool . . . with only a
knee's distance between the
two of you.
May we all become people who
pray. May we also learn to
leave the burden with You, ra-
ther than pick it up and carry
it with us after claiming that
we're trusting You. Right now,
Lord, take the burden. We cast
it upon You, knowing that
You’re better able to handle it
than we ever will be. We ask
that this time of prayer might
make a difference in the bal-
ance of this day . . . which we
commit to You now, in the
name of Jesus, our Savior.
Amen.

Is anyone among you suf-
fering? Let him pray. Is an-
yone cheerful? Let him
sing praises. Is anyone
among you sick? Let him
call for the elders of the
church, and let them pray
over him, anointing him
with oil in the name of the
Lord; and the prayer of-
fered in faith will restore
the one who is sick, and the
Lord will raise him up, and
if he has committed sins,
they will be forgiven him.

G lenn and Mary are missionaries
currently serving in Central Asia
(last name and exact location with-
held for security reasons). Their ministry en-
compasses many areas – working with young
professionals to raise up leaders for the king-
dom, ‘English clubs’ - where the language is
taught and friendships are formed, leading to
a number of people coming to Christ - even a
couple of coffee houses where people from
the predominantly Muslim culture come
‘because they like the atmosphere’. One area
of their ministry, though, focuses on children
with disabilities. In that region, there is little
in place in the way of support for these chil-
dren or their families. Parents are encouraged
to put them into orphanages and forget about
them when they are born. The parents feel
ostracized from society, and those who do
keep their children seldom ever let them ven-
ture out of the house. Glenn and Mary and
their ministry partners are working to change
that. They have formed a playgroup where
children with special needs can socialize and
interact, and where their parents can find
support. Last November they participated in
an auto-caravan for advocacy of children
with disabilities, trying to raise awareness for
these children, and for their parents, who
spend most of their time trying to care for
their children and protect them from the stig-
ma of society.
O ne mother of a little girl with Down
syndrome and Cerebral Palsy de-
scribes her experience with the
playgroup this way: “For the last four years
since my daughter was born I had not been
out of the house with her. I felt shame and
fear to take her out. Everyone in our village
knew that she had some kind of disability and
mocked me for that. My daughter had not
made any sound before she started coming to
the playgroup. She just sat at home in front of
the TV and did not show any interest in life.
Look at her now! She is a different person!
She shares her desires, she makes sounds,
she is alive!”
Glenn and Mary thank their partners,
such as Sonrise, for their continued support
for these vital ministries.

(Fuente de Vida, continued)
A lex was faithful to preach
every Sunday to a church
filled only with his wife and six
children.
Every Sunday he and his fami-
ly would pray over the empty
benches for each person they
believed would one day be sit-
ting there. It didn't take long
before their prayers were an-
swered and the church was full
once again. After serving for
five years as a volunteer pas-
tor, without salary, Alex felt he
needed to step down for a while
to help raise their family. For
the next nine years, Alex would
work as a day custodian here at
SonRise Christian Fellowship,
a job he continues to this day.
It was Kirk Bottomly who first
asked Alex to begin the Span-
ish ministry, but Alex wasn’t
ready. After Kirk left, Pastor
Jerome and Pastor Greg contin-
ued to speak with Alex about it
and he began to feel a desire in
his heart. Alex sought the Lord
daily, asking, “Lord, are You
really calling me or is this my
own emotions? I don’t want to
do it if this is man’s idea, I only
want to do it if it’s of You.” At
the time, SonRise was leaving
the PCUSA and there were a
lot of transitions going on. Alex
determined in his heart to stay
with the people of SonRise no
matter what happened but he
also “put out a fleece before the
Lord” like Gideon did. He told
the Lord if SonRise buys this
church property, then I’ll start
the Spanish ministry. Six
weeks later, the news came.
SonRise acquired the property
and Alex started his church.
With most of his children
grown and out of the house, his
congregation once again began
with just his wife and his four-
teen year old daughter. Alex
faithfully preached to them as
if he were standing before a
packed house. By the third
week, they had their first at-
tendee, Rich Overturf, who
would later become their Treas-
urer. Together, they prayed
over the empty chairs, anointed
them with oil, and thanked God
by faith for each person who
would sit there some day. As
the weeks followed, God would
consistently bring new people,
the first being all English
speaking couples! Eventually,
Hispanic families joined and
today they have around one
hundred members.
They named the church Fuente
de Vida which means Fountain
of Life. Along with Sunday ser-
vices, they have a variety of
ministries for men, women,
youth, and children, with Sun-
day school for all ages. They
have a full size worship band
complete with guitars and
drums. Everyone is involved
and there is unity. All the
members need each other. Eve-
ry service ends with an altar
call to come forward for salva-
tion, repentance, anointing
with oil, healing and miracles.
They are a Pentecostal church,
modeled after the first church
in Acts. They praise God with
liberty and freedom of expres-
sion. They’re very vocal in their
worship, hands raised, a lot of
hallelujas and amens. There’s a
lot of excitement and joy and
you can feel the love in the
room.
Fuente de Vida’s heart is for
the lost and they reach out reg-
ularly to the community. Devel-
oping relationships is essential

God’s Not Dead
Movie Review by the Dove Foundation
T his is a powerful film.
Kevin Sorbo turns in
a brilliant perfor-
mance as a Philoso-
phy professor who starts his
new class by insisting that his
students sign a paper stating
“God is dead”. One student,
named Josh, refuses to do so
and Professor Jeffery (Sorbo)
tells him he must debate the
topic that God is dead and give
convincing evidence that he is
not. Josh accepts the chal-
lenge and the viewer later
learns why Professor Jeffery
has been bitter at God for a
long time. It should be noted
that the professor’s girlfriend is
a Christian but he just can’t
seem to outrun God.
Other plots involve a man
named Mark (Dean Cain) who
is self absorbed and doesn’t
care when he learns his girl-
friend has cancer. He ignores
his elderly mother too who has
dementia and is in a nursing
home. This compelling movie
features the Newsboys who
minister to the woman with
cancer and a providential mo-
ment when Pastor Dave (David
A.R. White) has an opportunity
to minister to a certain college
professor. In addition, a wom-
an lives for Jesus despite the
fact her father belongs to an-
other religion and will reject her
if she doesn’t reject Christ. We
are happy to award this movie
our Dove “Family-Approved”
Seal for ages twelve plus. This
movie is a powerful tool to re-
mind every viewer: God is cer-
tainly not dead!
The Dove Foundation’s mission is to
encourage and promote the creation,
production, distribution and consump-
tion of wholesome family entertain-
ment. To read more reviews or for

Movie Review
“A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired.” Proverbs 17:22
to their vision, so they gather
for a monthly potluck and in-
vite the entire Hispanic com-
munity of Fallbrook.
If there is one message Pastor
Alex wants everyone to know,
it is this, “We have a God who
can change everything and of-
fer you a better life than what
you’re doing now.”
Recently they hosted a Youth
Revival in the SonRise CAC
where two hundred people
gathered to hear an evangelist
from Los Angeles and special
music. The majority of those in
attendance were lost youth
from the Fallbrook community
and about twenty-five percent
responded to the message and
came forward to receive salva-
tion.
This month, Fuente de Vida
celebrates their third anniver-
sary. Pastor Alex is very appre-
ciative to SonRise Christian
Fellowship for opening their
doors for God’s glory, not man’s
glory, and says that the two
churches are one in the Body of
Christ. “God will bless SonRise
for opening their doors and for
reaching out to the Spanish
culture.”

A Special Note For Those Who Grieve Grief Is a Unique Experience
You may feel it is useless to talk about your grief because no one truly understands what you are going
through.
“You sometimes feel after an experience like this that you’re talking a foreign language,” says Dora,
whose daughter died. “You feel like there’s no way anybody can know what you’re feeling. There is ab-
solutely no way anyone can know the depth of your pain. So you feel like it’s futile to talk about it be-
cause words can’t express the pain.”
Although countless people have experienced grief before you, each person’s response to grief is different.
Your path of grief will be uniquely your own.
Be encouraged that regardless of how your grief appears to you or others, it has a precious uniqueness
to the One who created you. God, who knows intimately your personality, your relationships, and the
experiences of your life, knows your grief and isn’t shocked or surprised by your responses.
“O LORD, You have examined my heart and know everything about me…. Thank you for making me so
wonderfully complex…. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed” (Psalm 139:1, 14, 16 NLT).
Father, thank You that my way of grieving is distinctly my own, reflective of all You have
sovereignly created me to be and experience. Amen.
