Parents are encouraged to communicate directly with the high schools if they require any additional information. Many of these events run for the majority of the day, however, students are encouraged to return to our school for the afternoon session if orientation activities finish early. Students who are attending selective and non-government high schools will attend school tomorrow as normal if their high school of choice is running orientation activities on a different day. Presentation Day Parents are reminded that our Presentation day for 2019 will be held on the grounds of Blakehurst High School at 10am on Thursday 12th December. We have elected to hold the event at the high school for a number of reasons, including the size of the hall, the air conditioning available in the hall and also the upgraded technology and sound systems available at the high school. This will ensure that we have a highly professional event that is comfortable for staff, students and parents. If your child is receiving an award, you would have received a letter home from the school last week. We look forward to seeing many parents in attendance to help celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students this year! Kogarah Community Services - Before and After School Care KCS will be holding a stall on school grounds at various times before and after school between now and the end of the year. This will provide an additional opportunity for parents to seek information, ask questions and enrol their child/children ahead of 2020. We are very excited to be partnering with KCS to offer a wonderful service in 2020 and beyond! P & C News Family Christmas Night! Friday 13th December 5.00pm - 8.00pm. We have booked food trucks to come in and make our dinner, this year we have returning to us for a 3rd time, Arlechino on the Road, Woodfired Pizza, we also have Mr Kernal and his Chips on A Stick truck, we have Barbehire catering, bringing their delicious Paella truck, the lovely Peter and Elsie are bringing their ice cream van and the gorgeous Kathryn is bringing the delightful Whimsy & Co coffee truck and ex BPS student, Adrian Akkari will be cooking up some waffles for those with a sweet tooth! So we are all set for a feast. We are sure that you have all heard about the amazing performances being worked upon by the incredible students dancing and singing! It's going to be a spectacular evening. Of course it wouldn’t be Family Christmas Night without our Christmas Raffle. The P&C Fundraisers have been busy gathering raffle prizes, we would of course welcome more! We would love some donations of food items to go into hampers, or any other items that could make a good prize. If you have any gifts that you would like to donate towards our raffle, please drop them into the school office this week. Thank you so much for generosity. Notes and raffle tickets will be coming home this week. P&C Surveys Please keep an eye out on the Skoolbag app for two surveys – we are seeking your feedback about our school canteen and the menu changes that we have introduced over this year. We have also created a survey to offer you the opportunity to share with us your ideas, thoughts and opinions around the P&C. This is so we can get a good understanding of where our whole school community would like us to focus our efforts and where you would like to see the funds that we raise being used. This feedback is so important for us and will help to inform our event planning for next year. If you would like to be involved with planning any of events, please get in touch, we would welcome your input. Dates for your 2020 diary Friday 7th February will be the New Kindergarten Families welcome dinner. Thursday 27th February at 7.00pm in the staff room will be the next P&C AGM Meeting, followed by a general P&C Meeting. All are welcome to attend. Expressions of Interest - Wanted Centrelink Approved Volunteers for the canteen. We are proud to be able to offer our school community a canteen that is open 5 days a week. Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 2.30pm. However to continue this service we are in need of more volunteers. As a P&C we have been looking into the possibility of utilising Centrelink approved volunteers to fill the volunteer shortage we have been facing this year. We are excited to announce that we have been approved! We would now like to open expressions of interest from anyone who may be interested in regular shifts in our canteen. This is a volunteer position for Centrelink approved people. Shifts would be from 9.00am - 2.30pm. Full training will be provided. Are you interested? Or do you know someone who fits the bill? If you would like to apply or you know someone who might be interested please contact the P&C at [email protected] and a full job description and details can be provided. All enquires will be treated with the strictest of confidence. However, if you would prefer to discuss this opportunity with a member of school staff, Mr Smyth-Gapps has advised his door is always open. We look forward to hearing from you. Open Every Friday 9.00am – 9:45amUniform Shop Roster - Term 4 Friday 6 December Deb Friday 13 December Chris (closed for stocktake) The Uniform Shop will be closing its doors for the year on Friday 6th December. Reopening in 2020 on Wednesday 29th January, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January. The sublimation sports shirts are fully stocked in all sizes so you can be ready for the uniform change over next year. If you haven’t had the opportunity to pick one up for your child yet, you can place your orders on flexischools or pop in and see us on Friday. We now have a terminal for making EFTPOS and Credit Card Payments in our Uniform shop. There is a small surcharge, which is the fee we pay for the convenience of the service 1.6%. We are desperately short of pre-loved (second hand) uniform items, (probably a sign of the great quality of our uniforms that just keep on wearing). If you have any outgrown items (in good condition) we would welcome them back to the shop to offer to other families. Please drop any uniform items off at the school office, or direct to the shop on Fridays. If you’d like to volunteer in our uniform shop, full training is provided, please drop an email to:
