Today Is Our Final Day of Collection! We have an opportunity to meet some immediate physical needs of people in our surrounding community. We are doing a food and clothing drive for 15th Street Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Illinois as well as the Jefferson County Rescue Mission. Below are the details.

Food DriveA portion of the food we have received recently went to help prepare Thanksgiving baskets that were given out to shut-ins and families of low means in East St. Louis. Please bring your food items to the “Go Center” in the corner of the lobby. All food items are welcome as they will help to stock the food pantries at both 15th Street Baptist Church and the Jefferson County Rescue Mission.

Clothing DrivePlease bring new or lightly used clothes of any and all sizes for men, women, boys and girls. Again, these may be dropped off in the “Go Center” in the corner of lobby.

Why Does God Not Speak My Language? This morning, someone asked me, “What is the reaction of the K’s when they first hear God’s word spoken in their heart language that is coming from the MegaVoice?” I had to think on that a bit. It occurred to me that, at first, they probably did not really understand that it was God’s message to His special creation that they were hearing. This question caused me to examine this from the K perspective, or at least as closely as I could.

The K’s live mostly in countries whose national language is French. There are French Bibles, but most of them don’t speak French let alone read it. The K’s live mostly in villages of another tribe, the Fulacunda, who speak Pulaar. Pulaar is a written language and they have at least the New Testament in Pulaar. The K’s live in their own compounds where they speak Wamey, the language of the K people. Wamey has never been reduced to writing; there is no Wamey Bible. I thought, do the K’s ever wonder why does God not speak Wamey? Now, for the first time they are hearing God saying “I love the K’s too, I want to have a close relationship with the K’s, I sent My Son Jesus so that the K’s may also live, eternally.”

Why am I so amazed when, after only a few minutes of hearing stories from God’s Word their response, without prompting, they exclaim with excitement; “We need to be Jesus Followers”, “We need to be baptized”.

Imagine, for the first time they heard from their Heavenly Father in the same language they grew up hearing from their loving earthly father and mother. ~ Jim Nicolls
