In their only league contest of the week , the Falcons were upset by Port Jefferson 3-2 . This match proved to be a costly one for the squad as Carl Merz, the leading player, pulled a muscle in his leg. Joey Rosen gained a 3rd singles win as Steve Sterling and Lew Towsky won their sixth consecutive match. The team ' s ov erall record is 6 - 4 . FISHING A Sport Fishing Clinic , co- sponsored by the Long Island State Park Commission and Penn Fishing Tackle Mfg. Co. had their second sessions on Saturday at Captree Overlook Pier at 2 p.m. and Jones Beach Fishing Pier at 10 a.m. Local men , with their equipment were present for the topic , Flounder Fishing, part 2; and Pier Fishing for Blackfish , scheduled for May 27th. The stickmen had their biggest victory of the season when they defeated Half Hollow Hills 8-5 , for the first time in five years. Dale Whitley scored 4 goals and 2 assists while Tom Mc Aleavy had 4 points. Last Wednesday the squad dropped a decision to Brentwood, a strong contender fot the County Championship, by a score of 13-3. BOWLING At Captree Lanes, West Islip, 14 year old , Bob Valentine re- ceived a trophy for 2nd place in Suffolk County. The Junior- Senior Boys league had as its winners , Pete Pastor, 16 , with 257; and Phi l Cooke , 15 , 212 . Ann Kandler got 201 as a mem- ber of the Wednesday Night Ladies League. Top honors went to, Al Clemin with 256; Marion Baums , 201; Dennis Conners, 204 . Accepting the congratula- tions of their fe l low bowlers were, Connie Decker with 211 , Bill Pladl , 209 and Pete Zellons , 201, all at Captree . BASEBALL By losing two consecutive games to West Babylo n , the Deer Park baseball team slipped into a tie for first with the Eagles. The squad' s record now stands at 7 - 4 . Jim Valente, who had previously been victorious in his first five starting assignments, suffered his initial setback. West Babylon tagged the righthander for three run s in the first frame in the opener of the series and held on to win 3-2 . West Babylon dominated the second contest. The Eagles ripped the combined pitching of freshman , Bob McCurdy and junior , Larry Conde en route to an 1 1 -4 rom p over the Falcons. The big outburst came in the fourth when West Babylon crossed the plate nine times.
