CHILDREN Our well supervised Nursery and Children’s
programs offer a warm and caring atmosphere.
Our “JAMTowne” entrance is in the lobby next to
the coffee bar!
COMMUNION Jesus gave this memorial to remind us of the price
He paid for our sins – death on a cross. Christians
are invited to meditate on God’s love and grace as
they participate.
OFFERING We give out of our love for God to support His
work here on earth. If you are a guest we
welcome you to express your gratitude but do not
feel pressured.
DECISIONS At the end of the service an invitation is extended
and is an opportunity for you to walk forward to
accept Jesus as your Savior, rededicate your life,
transfer your membership or ask for prayer and
spiritual counsel.
BAPTISM Immersion in water pictures the death and burial
of our old life without Jesus and the beginning of
our new life as His follower. It is the moment
when God’s grace unites with our faith providing
forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITIES
STUDENT MINISTRY
Towne South Students is all about groups!
Being in the right group is important! We want all our
6-12th grade students to be connected to our student
ministry; and one of the best ways to do that is to get
plugged into a Small Group! All of our groups meet on Sunday morning from
10-11 AM. Join a group today!
BIG GROUP STARTS BACK ON SEPTEMBER 5TH! “BIG
Group” is all about being together and belonging! All
middle and high school students are invited to come hang out, hear a practical
message, and be encouraged. Dinner - 5:30 PM ($3 per person for the meal). Big
Group meets until 7:30 PM on Wednesday evenings.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
The Attic is closed for the Summer! We enjoy providing a place
for 6 -12th grade students to come hang out and have some fun in a
safe environment on most Friday nights during the school year!
We are now closed for the Summer, but will reopen on
September 14! If you would like to volunteer at The Attic, visit
The Hub and complete a student ministry volunteer card.
The Cleaning Teams are currently in need of
volunteers! Volunteers serve on a team of six to eight
members one Saturday morning each month for
approximately 1 1/2 hours to sweep, mop, wipe down
counters, empty trash, vacuum and clean bathrooms and classrooms. If this
sounds like the ministry for you, sign up at The Hub today!

WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMMING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 5!
Our Wednesday evening
programming starts back on
September 5th
! Dinner will begin
at 5:30 PM and classes for all
ages start at 6:05 PM. There are
four adult classes to choose from. All adult classes will meet upstairs.
Foundations for Defending Our Faith: (Taught by Dr. Kevin Larsen)
This 6-week series will explore some of the preliminary philosophical
questions that must be answered to build a defense of Christianity. How
can we know things? Can that knowledge be labeled as true? Is there
such a thing as truth? Are faith and reason opposites? It is necessary to
consider such issues long before we consider the veracity of the claims of
the Bible. If there is no such thing as objective truth, then the Bible has
no claim to be the rule to direct life. If knowledge is subjective and that
subjectivity can't be overcome, then any claim for truth must be
tolerated. Think of this series as Christian philosophy made slightly less
difficult. After these questions are answered, then we can make a case
for the existence of God and that God has revealed himself in
Scripture. Sign up at The Hub to participate in this class.
Financial Peace University (Taught by Jonathan Snoots)
We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that
plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching,
class discussions, and interactive small group activities, FPU presents
biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you've
dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt,
manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more! Since
2015, Towne South has had 37 families complete this 9-week course. In
those 9 weeks, they were able to pay off $84,811 in debt, cut up 110
credit cards, put $49,237 into savings, and began to be better givers! We
encourage everyone at Towne South to take FPU. You can purchase
your materials and register at tscoc.com/ministries/financial-peace.
Discovery 101 (Taught by Brad Giffin)
If you’ve been visiting with us and want to know more about Towne
South Church of Christ, if you’ve been thinking about membership at
Towne South, or if you’ve never attended the Discovery 101 class, we
encourage you to do so. Our goal is to eventually have every member and
attendee complete this class. If you want to discover more about living
the Christian life, some of our basic beliefs, and Towne South’s over-all
plan and strategy, this class is for you. You can register online at
tscoc.com/connect/connect-and-grow or at The Hub.
Bible Project (Taught by Melissa Snoots) will continue for ladies.
We are less than two months away from our Great Day of
Service on October 14th
! Over the next several weeks, we will
be collecting information on places and people we can
serve. There are two ways you can help us prepare for a
successful service day: (1) If you would like to help lead a
project or help organize the event, please
contact Jonathan Snoots at [email protected] or 252.312.3232.; (2) Ask your
friends or neighbors if we can serve them in some way and give Jonathan
information on the project.
We will join the National Back to
Church emphasis on September 16! At
Towne South, we want to make this a
day when we both invite people who
once attended church but no longer
do, as well as those who may have never attended church. We also want to
encourage our own people to make a special effort to be present on this special
Sunday. We all have family and friends who attended church in the past but are
not currently attending. A simple invitation may get them started again—so
begin asking now! Remember, we have plenty of Towne South calling cards,
which contain our service times available at The Hub. Our Towne South people
have been scattered all over this summer, so let's all come back together on
September 16. Our record attendance was 514 on April 1, 2018, yet we have 566
people on our somewhat regular attendance list as well as many visitors and
guests every Sunday. What an encouragement it would be if we could get our
own people here plus the extras that we hope to see on National Back to Church
Sunday! We could easily break our record on this special day!
Our Girls' Night Out is only one week away -- September
10 at 7 PM!
Early registration today at The Hub ($5)
"GETTING TO KNOW YOU"--Ensemble practice today
after 1st service AND/OR after Sunday School.
Our Super Sleepover for K—6th grade
kids will be held from 8 PM on Friday,
September 7 to 8 AM on Saturday,
September 8! You can still register for
this event by completing a paper form at The Hub or by visiting our website:
www.tscoc.com.
VOLUNTEERS PLEASE NOTE: All those who are planning to volunteer for the
Super Sleep-Over need to let Sissy know through email ([email protected] ) or
text (619-2592). Please make sure that your background check is complete. Also,
plan to be at the church building that evening at 7:15 PM to talk through the
evening’s agenda. This will be a great time for our kids!
Our JAMTowne Children’s Ministry is the place where
kids learn that “it’s all about Jesus And Me!” This active
and growing ministry seeks to support the spiritual
growth of our growing families! It takes a lot of people
in a lot roles to keep our little town going, as we try our
best to share Jesus Christ with those who are nursery
through elementary ages. We need a few more teachers
and assistants between the PreK and Elementary areas on Sundays and
Wednesdays. We also need a few more volunteers to join the Kid Check Rotation
to greet our families and assist them with getting their children “Checked In.” All
these areas usually require a regular, once a month, rotation. Please consider
becoming a part of our JAMTowne Team! A background check and a quick and
simple training is required of all who work with our children and youth. Sign up
at The Hub and Sissy will contact you to discuss your service preference. For
questions, contact Sissy at [email protected] or call or text 619-2592.
The Saturday men’s group will start up again on
September 8th
at 8 AM in the auditorium classroom.
We will begin the study “Training for Service,” a 26-
session Bible overview—designed to equip lay leaders
to serve as elders, Sunday school teachers, small group
facilitators, and in other positions of service in the
church. Books will be provided. Contact Jeff Wood
([email protected]) with any questions.
