Statement of NeedThe fields of orthopaedic surgery and rheumatology are constantly changing disciplines.

This activity will focus on educating participants on the most recent clinical research, advances and outcomes in musculoskeletal medicine.

Expert faculty from around the world, many of whom have trained at HSS, will present on an array of topics intended to improve participant knowledge and competence in every day practice.

Program ObjectivesHSS activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of the course, the participant should be able to:

► Review the magnitude of the metal-on-metal problems in hip replacements and

surgeries and be able to implement changes in treatment such as patient selection, surgical technique, and implant design selection to improve outcomes.

► Describe biomarkers in joint replacements and develop screening tools to revolutionize diagnosis and treatment of adverse reactions to implant debris.

► Comprehend multidisc-iplinary efforts to treat patients who have under-gone metal-on-metal hip replacements and hip re surfacing by utilizing imaging, histology, and implant retrieval analysis.

► Create algorithms for the effective treatment of patients who have undergone metal-on-metal hip replacements and hip resurfacing.

► Distinguish the relationship between growth plate function and fracture repair and be able to properly utilize the most effective treatment method.

► Identify therapeutic pathways for enhancing fracture repair.

► Explain the effects of aging on cellular and molecules processes involved in fracture repair.

► Summarize the impact of emerging digital technology in orthopaedics.

► Assess how social media affects the way we teach and learn.

► Express the benefits and risks of BMP and be able to determine when BMP should and should not be used in spinal surgery.

► Discuss the results of
