Holiday Work/Upgrades During the holidays we have taken delivery and installation of 8 new touch screen TVs to replace our aging Smartboards in the Year 3 & 4 classrooms. The next phase of the project will see the same boards installed in our remaining infants classrooms, which is very exciting. Additionally, our old library has been revamped with new flexible furniture. This will allow us to reconfigure the layout of our library at any time to suit our specific needs. Tell Them From Me Survey As mentioned last term, The Tell Them From Me survey for parents, students and teachers has opened for 2019. The more responses we get the better our ability to make change. Correct wearing and presentation of our school uniform ensures student identification and safety in the community and assists in the continued development of strong school pride and learning culture - characteristics we are extremely committed to upholding. Ready for School Next Thursday, 24/10 our ‘Ready for School’ program commences for our 2019 kindergarten students. This program will run every week for 6 weeks commencing at 1.55pm. If you know of anyone with Kindergarten age children for 2020 living in our school zone, please don’t hesitate to invite them along to be a part of the program. Please contact the office if you’d like any further details. Social Media Use for Children The new term presents an opportunity for a timely reminder of the appropriate use of social media for children. Use of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr or Snapchat is restricted to those over the age of 13. It goes without saying that dealing with issues in the school context arising from social media interactions of children under this age, is not only alarming and highly time consuming, but totally avoidable. Not using these platforms is the surest way to escape these issues. Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness Support Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can be life threatening. Could we please ask your assistance in avoiding foods containing peanuts or tree nuts and talking to your children about sharing certain foods and washing their hands regularly? Have a great week everyone, Matt Barr Principal

Grandparents Day On Friday the 25th October Woy Woy South PS will be celebrating Grandparents Day. We will be having open classrooms from 10:00-10:30 followed by performances in the hall. Grandparents are then asked to stay and have a picnic recess with students at 11am. On the day we will be also raising money for local animal shelters and are asking for donations of dog food, cat food, pet treats or a gold coin donation. We will also be having a cake stall outside the hall at recess. Hope to see you all there. Miss I’Anson

Sport is organised on a Stage basis with a variety of activities planned. School sports are usually a series of modified games which involve the skills being taught in PE over the term e.g. AFL, Netball. Soccer, T-ball & Football.

In addition to school sport, students are invited to participate in a Gala Day which involves them travelling to different venues and playing sports against students from other schools in the local area. Gala Day sports usually include Netball, Soccer, T-ball and OZ Tag.

Next year, your child will have the opportunity to participate in our school Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals. These can lead to school representation, moving into Zone, Sydney North and State carnivals for successful participants.

Students are also given the opportunity to try out for knockout teams in a variety of sports including Rugby League, Girls and Boys Football, Girls and Boys Cricket, Girls and Boys Touch Football and Basketball.

PBL Focus for Week 1. The PBL focus for this week is 'Classroom Expectations'. Each class has their own rules based on our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships. It is important to remember these rules when working in the classroom to ensure all students and staff have the opportunity to learn and teach in a productive and safe environment.

Library News I wanted to share some exciting news with you all.

We have new furniture in our library! As you can imagine removing all of the resources to make way for the new furniture has been a mammoth endeavour and I would like to thank all of the students for their patience while this transition is happening. I can’t wait to reopen the library and show the students their new dynamic learning space. Unfortunately I will not be able to reopen until Monday, Week 2, Term 4. Thank you to everyone who has assisted with the move. Hopefully you will all love our new library as much as I do.

We are absolutely delighted with how well the garden is doing. The children will be lucky to watch our garden become edible in the very

near future!

A huge thank you again to the families, friends and teachers who contributed their time and effort to

make this possible.
