The theme for 2016 is 'Shared stories, better learning, stronger communities' we hope to share our learning and stories with you all at Wednesday’s open classrooms and Book Parade. I am continually amazed at the great sportsmanship of our students. This week I had the pleasure of attending the Boccia State Championships where our team of Ashton, Blade and Harper completed the day as the highest ranked primary school team in the state. The organiser commented on the way our team displayed respectful competitiveness. This after I received complementary emails about our netball teams last week. We want our children to always compete but in a way that respects our opposition. Over the last few years, communication between the school, teachers and our community has become much easier with improved technologies, such as email and social media. As a society, we are now inundated with information all the time, which is positive but can also impact people’s wellbeing. As a school, we endeavour to keep parents informed about teaching, learning and special events as much as is humanly possible. As one of our core expectations is respect, can parents please be mindful that teachers/staff are not available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week and have the right to their personal time. Communication outside of school hours and weekends may go unanswered until appropriate times. Emails that arrive immediately before school, during teaching and learning time may not be seen until after 3 pm. It is not unreasonable to allow 48 hours for a response to an email during the term. As always, in an emergency please call the ladies in the front office. Recently we enlisted the help of a graphic designer to update our school logo. Share your thoughts on the design through Facebook or through the school email. The image is listed over the page. Looking forward to seeing you all during Education Week. Mr Dalkeith
