AIR DAMPEDTRIGGER TENSIONMETER
For extremevibrations, the Model "TD"serieshasan added externaldashpotto supplement the internal damping. The precise air dashpot, whichoperates on the upstroke as well as the downstroke, provides substantialdamping of oscillating pointer movement. By adjusting the knurled headvalve attached to the dashpot various ratesof damping can be achieved.Consequently, the pointer staysstillfor a practicalreadout.
The Trigger Tension Meters can be mounted in fixed positions for in-linetension monitoring by meansof a universalbracketwhich is sold separately.Thisallows eitherintermittentor continuous readings,as required.

As a rule-of-thumb method,the right tension
fora yarnis in thevicinityof .15to .35gramsperdenier. Ifyouryarn is rayon and you arerunning 100 denier40 filament,tensionsprobablyliebetween15and 35 grams. Safe tensionschangewith the materialof theyarnand itsnumberof filamentsIe.g., nylon requires a lowertensionwhilecottonpermitstheuse of higher tension). Forpropercoverageof 15-35grams,the TR-125 instrument isrecommended.
