Where Were We? If you look at our technology five years ago, the leaps and bounds that we have made in a media driven society is

amazing. We have developed ways to

communicate with people in other parts of the world with

a touch of a button.

“During the past few decades, modern technology, with radio, TV, air travel, and satellites, has woven a network of communication which puts each part of the world in to almost instant contact with all the other parts.” -David Bohm

Change In Business Strategies

International business has become an imperative part of successful business strategies today. In previous time only major corporations had access to conduct internal affairs.

Because of the advances in technology we are able to communicate with various businesses overseas through web conferencing and video chats.

Businesses now, no matter what size will be able to make deals with companies in a different continent.

Business Models In 10 Years • In 10 years, there will be no need for companies to have a set corporate office in a specific city, companies will be able to function through web conferencing.

• These companies will not have to incur costs for employees to travel in order to train.

• Trainings and conferences will be held strictly through interactive web conferencing.

• According to E3 Webcasting, “On average currently 2 countries take part in webinars.”

• In 10 years, this will be the only form of communication with other countries, through video conferencing.

Media System Dependency Theory

• This theory states that the more dependent and individual is on the media for his or her needs fulfilled, the more important the media will be to that person.

• The media will have more influence and power over the individual.

• This works the same with a successful business. If a company becomes dependent on web conferencing to conduct business, it will become more important to that company.

Gizmos and Gadgets

• In today’s society, to have a smart phone is a common occurrence. But, what about a Smart Watch?

• In 10 years phones will be a gadget of the past. All telecommunications, data retrieval, and mobile cameras will be attached to your wrist.

• There will be no need for anyone to try to steal your Smart Device as the band to the Smart Watch will be only activated by the skin pattern of the owner.

Gizmos and Gadgets

• Smart Devices attached to your wrist, will also hold all of your medical, financial, and personal information.

• There will be no need for anyone to carry a wallet, as all cards that you would need for informational purposes such as insurance, debit/credit card, birth certificates, etc. will be loaded to the device.

Uses and Gratification Theory

• This theory had its greatest influence in the 1970’s and 1980’s and was developed by Katz, Blumler, and Gurevitch.

• This theory focuses on how they use the media that they choose to complete personal satisfaction.

• Gizmos and gadgets are technological devices that people seek to purchase on a want basis.

Secondary Education

• The advancements in technology will allow for further development in secondary education.

• Universities and Colleges will combine forces and will only hire one professor to teach at various universities through interactive technologies.

• Students will attend class with a virtual professor, allowing the professor to be anywhere in the world and teaching to a class of students.

Social Learning Theory

• Albert Bandura proposed this theory. The theory is based on the fact that people can learn through observation.

• Internal mental states are an essential part of this process.

• And just because you learn something new does not mean that you are going to change your behavior.
