other parents with a cuppa and a catch up. Michelle Rose, one of our Assistant Principals, will be there to host the meeting and introduce new people. Michelle is both a staff member and the parent of one of our students, so has lots of great insights to share.

Fruit and Vege WeekDuring week 10 of last term, we held fruit and vege week where all classes participated in learning more about fresh fruit and vegetables, tasting and creating amazing artworks with fruit and vege. You can check out a display of all the amazing artwork in the school foyer. There is also some photos in this newsletter.

NAIDOC WeekThis week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all classes will be working on activities that will culminate in an artwork or display for our school foyer. These will be up for Education Week, so please make sure you stop in the foyer and check them out.

Team Tallowood is walking for a cancer free future

We’re taking on the 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 27 October and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.

Every year in NSW alone, more than 46,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.

We’d love for you to join us.

To join our team click on the link below. We will be starting from Hunters Hill at 7.30am. Some of us will be walking the whole course while others plan to do a part. The choice is yours.

https://www.7bridgeswalk.com.au/join/teamtallowood

Please sponsor us and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help the Cancer Council work towards the vision of a cancer free future.

Thank you for your support!

Friendly ReminderScholastic Book Fair

Just a quick reminder that our school will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair during Education Week next week. Come along to the library and view the hundreds of books on sale at Scholastic’s greatly discounted prices. Most range from $8 - $15 but there are a number of books that start as low as $4. (This might be a good time to stock up on small gifts and stocking fillers for Christmas!!!)

The library is where it is all happening. Library tours, class activities and the Book Fair. So please feel free to visit after your Parent/Teacher interview on Tuesday 6th August or during the Education Week Open Morning on Friday 9th of August.

Morning tea will be provided in the library at 10.30am on Friday at the

Education Week Open Morning. All welcome.

LWe have kicked off term 3 with healthy eating

habits and celebrating fruit and veg week. Class 1 students have thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. We learnt about days of the week and different yummy fruits. We also created a Class 1 caterpillar which ate through apples, pears, oranges and many more foods.

To further celebrate fruit and veg week, we created a caterpillar by cutting apple slices and aligning it in the shape of a caterpillar. During this activity, Class 1 students munched on green and red apples, sultanas and peas.
