Roots and Shoots Award

The Eco-Club of Sunrise English Private School has consistently been working on

various projects related to environment sustainability and charity. We also do

organic farming, hydroponics, collect paper-cans-batteries for recycling. We

conduct sales of manure, plants and produce.

Some of the projects we did are on Saving honey bees, protecting marine life,

fishing awareness during breeding season, saving Dugongs from drifting nets,

saving kittens. We contribute to Red Crescent; Ramadan Zakat fund did clean-

up of Corniche and a labour camp in Mussafah.

Our School encourages us in protecting plants, animals, helping people and

bringing awareness in community to move towards environmental

sustainability.

Our school is one of the recipients of Roots and Shoots Award, among the 7

selected schools from UAE.

Our school received the award from the well-known environmental

conservationist and Primatologist Dr Jane Goodall on Jan 20th in an award

ceremony held at Park Hyatt Hotel, Saadiyat Island.

This award inspires us to do more towards saving our environment for us and

our future generations. As Jane Goodall said, “The greatest danger to our future

is apathy”. Let us all actively participate and save our environment both for us

and future generations.

INTER SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTAL PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION “A country’s greatest investment lies in building generations of educated and

knowledgeable youth “- Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan

Competitions play a role in motivating students to perform and excel and

offer a lot more reward than just winning the prize. Competitions offer a chance

for participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills, analyze and

evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude. Competitions also

encourage students to adopt innovative techniques and develop their ideas and

skills. SEPS always encourage and support our students to take part in various

competitions/ programmes.

A team of 10th std students of our school ( Vaishnavi Patel, Lakshmi

Jaya, Shriya Sanjay , Roshni Naushad and Kareeza Silby) participated in the

Interschool environmental public speaking competition held on 23/4/2018 at

Knowledge Park Dubai. The topic was Agriculture-A feasible future for the

region. Our students secured 4th position among the students from 26 other

schools of UAE.

“KUNOOZ YEAR OF ZAYED”

The aim of the competition is to promote the knowledge about Sheikh Zayed

life and achievements and preserve his legacy, ensuring it is taught in future

generations. Participation in the competition was extended to all the schools

of UAE.

Our both teams successfully passed the first round of competition on 14th Oct.

and consecutively the second round held on 15th Oct. 2018 enabled to

participate in finals Achievement.

Our girls’ team acquired 2nd place in competition. They displayed zealous

performance, among the 35 schools participating across the UAE.

Hindi UTSAV competition- 2019

On 24 November, 2018 ‘Hindi UTSAV competition’ was organized by Indian People’s Forum to promote Hindi language. A variety of competitions were conducted on that special occasion like HINDI DECLAMATION & ESSAY WRITING, HINDI BEST HAND WRITING, HINDI EXTEMPORE , HINDI FOLK STORY WRITING , STORY OR POEM FROM A PICTURE , HINDI STREET PLAY, POETRY TRANSLATION FROM MALAYALAM TO HINDI etc. In this competition ANGEL MARY secured first prize for HINDI BEST HAND WRITING, BHUMIKA secured first prize for HINDI EXTEMPORE, and KRISHNA NARESH secured second prize in HINDI FOLK STORY WRITING.27 Students of our School accompanied by Mrs. Seema kumari, Mrs. Kazi Nusrat and Mrs.Zaheda Parveen participated in various competitions. Vishwa Hindi Diwas 2019

Vishwa Hindi Divas was celebrated at Abu Dhabi Embassy on 17 January,

2018.Students of Sunrise English Private School participated in Group song,

Bhashan and quiz competitions. The school is proud to announce that our

students won the third prize in Group song and third prize in the quiz

competition. Congratulations to all the students and thanks to the management

for providing a platform for our students to demonstrate their talents. Looking

forward for such initiatives that chisel up the skills and talents of our students.

MATHEMATICS TEACHER’S FORUM

17.10.18 as any other day for all but it as a special day in 30 years history of

Sunrise English Private School -Abu Dhabi. The day as special because or first

time MATHEMATICS FORUM was held in the school. It was a special day for the

29 teachers of mathematics department with mentor as our principal Dr Thakur.

The day for the mathematics department teachers started at 8 a.m. with

preparation as host. By 10 a.m. all the other 14 participating schools joined. The

forum started with prayers and UAE National Anthem followed by the

welcoming speech by Dr. Thakur. The Forum was about Best Practices followed

in teaching. The primary department presentation of the host school was

followed by the secondary department. Seven other schools has done the

presentation with their best practices.

After the break, session was followed by activity for the teachers by the host

school. The forum concluded with open question answer session by Dr. Thakur

followed by certificate distribution.

A day well cherished and a new page added to the history of Sunrise.

KENKEN COMPETITION

More than 200 students participated for the KENKEN school level competition.

Each with a dream to go to US for the final round. Any trip with parents is good

, with friends it is better but when the trip is on your own as participant is the

best.Out of the 200 and more participant 97 were recognized and got Bronze

Medal which were distributed in class. 36 came under the category of

achievement and got the Silver medal in today’s assembly. 4 student received

the Gold certificate and will be felicitated later with the medal.

Our Principal Sir Dr. Thakur Mulchandani and Vice Principal Mrs. Sheela John

awarded the students with certificates and medals.

MATHALON 2018

The Mathalon was conducted in University of Wollongong, Dubai on 24 th

November 2018.

Our school has participated in the competition with three teams, one team from

the junior category and two teams from the senior category. It was a wonderful

experience as students had an exposure to application based questions on an

intellectual basis and different ways of presenting a topic.

Environmental Excellence School Award

Based on His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al-Qasimi, Ruler of

Sharjah’s vision – to disseminate the culture of environmental awareness

amongst all members of society, especially school students, Bee’ah, in

collaboration with the Sharjah Education Zone, took the initiative to launch a

school competition and expanded it to all schools in the United Arab Emirates

under the title “Environmental Excellence School Award” (EESA).

This award aims to increase environmental awareness amongst students and to

encourage the youth to actively participate in environmentally educational

activities within their school systems and promote self-initiative.

We are extremely delighted to inform you all that the environmental short film

“Hara - The Green” submitted by our students (Boys Section), based on the

given theme “Changing existing practices into green, sustainable solutions using

technology”, has been awarded by BSOE team for the “Environmental

Excellence School Award”.

Sunrise English Private School has secured 3rd position along with AED 5,000 as

cash prize, certificates to the whole team members and trophy in the

competition. This project has been chosen for the award from the top

submissions from all over UAE schools by BSOE judges.

Through this activity, all the participated students got an exposure in areas like

film making, editing, sound mixing etc.

We take this opportunity to thank BSOE judges for taking their valuable time to

visit our school, interact with our students, motivating and awarding them for

their short film.

SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS

ABIJITH ASHOK of grade XII- A has won the PM Foundation fellowship. He won

this fellowship for excellent performance in the Talent Search Examination and

interview conducted by P M Foundation with Gulf Madhyamam. The exam was

conducted on 14th October 2017 by all students from GCC who secured 10 CGPA

in the CBSE 10th Grade Board exams. From this top 25 students were interviewed

in July 2018 and out of this only top 10 students were selected for the

P.M.Foundation Fellowship which consists of 4 students from UAE, 2 from

Baharin, 2 from Oman and one each from Kuwait & Qatar.

Recently he also secured full score 2400 out of 2400 marks in SAT (Scholastic

Aptitude Test ) in subjects like Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics conducted by

College Board.

IT-National Level Competition 2019

Three elements of competition was taken place. The SEPS team participated in · cycle3 -2 teams(C++), · cycle2-2teams(web designing) and

· cycle3-individual students(tynker) respectively.

The competition was very helpful for the students to gain knowledge, confidence and the team work capabilities. We proudly announce that our cycle3(C++) team has won in emirates level competition and they have been selected for the national level competition to be held in ADNEC.

AU ROBOTICS 2019 was held in Ajman University on 3rd February 2019. Au

Robotics competition was a great opportunity for the children to express their

Innovative skills in Arduino programming. The competition gave the children

great exposure and helped them open their minds towards new Innovative

tasks. 37 teams from 22 schools all over the UAE participated in this competition.

Our school has secured First and third Position. Congratulations to the students

Techno Talent Fest 2019 was held in Emirates Institute of Banking and Finance

Karate Training

A special assembly was organized to felicitate all the students who have secured

various Karate belts in the training classes organized after school in Sunrise.

Students were presented with certificates and belt. The karate instructors were

presentated with Momentos by the Principal Sir. Principal Dr Thakur

Mulchandani thanked the Amateur karate club and it’s instructors for imparting

karate lessons to our students whole heartedly and in a plannned phase

National Astronomy & Science Olympiad

NASO is an international platform where our students are getting a great

exposure along with the students of several Asian and gulf countries. A special

Assembly was conducted to honor NASO Olympiad level one winners on 4 th

March 2019. The assembly commenced with the recitation of few verses from

the Holy Quran followed by school prayer song. After the national Anthem,

students presented the thought for the day.

This year 118 students participated from grade two to ten and 23 students

qualified with State Rank, Medals and certificates from Sunrise English Private

School. Principal Dr.Thakur Mulchandani and Vice-Principal Mrs. Sheela John

honored the proud students by distributing Certificates and Medals. It was

indeed a great moment for the students and teachers.

International Collaboration with Chennai Public School

Our school conducted an online interactive session with Chennai Public School-

India based on the collaborative project ‘Social Science and Humanities.’

The aim of this collaboration was to draw the attention to the cultural and

social dynamics of pople, places and institutions.

The students did a research work on the culture,tradition and economy of

Rome and India.

• They discovered valuable insights about Indian culture, beliefs and customs

and Rome Philosophy.

• They cascaded their research work through Skype Session.

• prepared questionnaire and shared it with the students of Chennai Public

School and vice versa.

The session was indeed innovative and informative and a wonderful

COLLABORATIVE PROJECT

Coming together is a beginning, Keeping together is a progress , Working

togetheris success”

Our school has organized an interactive session with Abu Dhabi Indian School ,

Al Wathba ,based on the collaborative project ‘Shakespeare and the Globe

Theatre’ on 24th February , 2019 . Collaborative and interactive learning is an

approach that encourages students to create groups and work together.

Students of grade 7 actively involved in the project gathering information

through reading , discussing, sharing their ideas through presentations and

preparing questionnaire based on the topic.

The session started with the power point presentation by both the schools

followed by a quiz program where students threw question based on their

knowledge of reading. Students showed a great deal of zest and zeal and

participated enthusiastically during the quiz session.

I love Exams – Work shop

Workshops are an effective way of introducing a new concept, spurring students

to investigate it further on their own and can help them to achieve success in

their academic environment. On 24th February, 2019 Sunrise English Private

School hosted a workshop on “I Love Exams”. The purpose of the workshop is

to gain confidence and to manage any anxiety that may experience in the lead

up to exams.

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics conducted by MOE on 29th January 2019, at ADNEC was indeed a Milestone in the History of Sunrise English Private School. The incredible achievement made by our Secondary Students obviously has added feathers on the hat of the ‘A’ Band accredited School. The competition in the programming section co-ordinated by the IT department

was a ‘program in C++ and Web Design’.

The Emirate level competition was conducted on 19th January, 2019 in Al Roowda Public School. The UAE level competition was at ADNEC conducted on 29th January, 2019. The students of Sunrise English Private School won the First

and Second Prize in C++ and Third in Web Designing in national level.

AU ROBOTICS COMPETITION

21st century skills comprise skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that have

been identified as being required for success in 21st century society and

workplaces by educators, business leaders, academics, and governmental

agencies. This is part of a growing international movement focusing on the skills

required for students to master in preparation for success in a rapidly changing,

digital society. Many of these skills are also associated with deeper learning,

which is based on mastering skills such as analytic reasoning, complex problem

solving, and teamwork. Since many days our students were supported by expert

robotic trainers and our computer science teachers. At last on 15th January 2019

our students effort was put to test by an elimination round in which 16 groups

participated among them .

As a whole the activities were beneficial and very useful. The school

management, staff and students are very much obliged and indeed very much

thankful to the Robotics team for arranging such an useful programme.

INTER SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION

Democracy must be built through open societies that share information. “When

there is information, there is enlightenment; when there is debate, there are

solutions’, says a wise quote. The relevance of debating, discussing and

evaluating has become very significant in this present-day world. Keeping this in

mind, Sunrise English Private School organized an Inter School Debate and

Extempore Competition on 9th January, 2019. The purpose of this Debate

competition was to equip our up-coming generation to probe deep into the day-

to-day issues of contemporary relevance, thus prepare them to face the 21st

century by critically and analytically exploring deep into the world around them.

Participants of the Debate competition, “Unabated Linguists” from 9 different

schools of Abu Dhabi, reached Sunrise School by 9:30am accompanied by their

respective teachers. The Extempore competition, “Unabated Orators” was

solely organized for the teachers who accompanied the students.

HONOUR FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

A memorable day at the Opening Of CBSE Gulf Schools Principals Conference at

Bangalore as Principal Dr Thakur Mulchandani received a trophy for Academic

Excellence on account of Excellent Grade 12 March 2018 Board exams

results.Miss Gayatri Of Grade 12 2017-18 batch was the third overall topper in

Science Stream in UAE.

TREE PLANTING CEREMONY

Sunrise English Private School has qualified to plant 3 trees under the “For Our

Emirates We Plant” campaign which took place on Tuesday 18th December 2018

in Minae’, South Ras Al Khaimah(Skheibar Area). This year, 1000 trees were

planted.

It was a pleasure to take part in this campaign .SEPS Eco club members took it

as a pride and an opportunity to appreciate the efforts of EEG in converting the

barren area into greeneries with care, team work and cooperation.

Robotics competition

It is a great privilege and honor to announce that our school has secured third

place in FLL Robotics competition. The Ministry Of Education organized a

ROBOTIC competition on 1st December 2018 at Al Mawaheb School, Abu Dhabi.

This competition enhances the creativity of students from age group 9 to 16

years. The main objective of the program is to train students to solutions to

real-life problems by building a robot and programming it. This year’s theme

was “into the orbits”. This is the first time Sunrise English Private school took

part in this competition. 35 teams took part in this competition out of which

our team was the only CBSE school from Abu Dhabi.

ROBOTIC competition

The Ministry Of Education organized a ROBOTIC competition on 1st December

2018 at Al Rowad School, Abu Dhabi. The main objective of the program is to

instill STEAM-based learning among UAE’s youth by tapping into student’s

natural passion for creative thinking.

Under category Simulation/ CoSpace Robotics Sunrise English Private School

represented as the team named DigiMinds with participants Mohammed

Ammar, Jody Akshay, and Alex Jijo from grade8 and our school secured 1st place

among the groups represented from Abu Dhabi.

Y.O.U. Fest is the first platform in the U.A.E dedicated to ensuring talented children in the region get their shot at fame. Sunrise English Private School secured second position in the south zone round and qualified for the finals. The grand finale of Youfest 2018 was held in Amity International School, Sharjah on 1st December 2018. It was one big cultural event with neck to neck competitions. 7 Emirates, 24 schools and more than 1000 students participated in various events. Sunrise Students participated in all the events. The Children’s Innovation Fest –UAE 2018’

SIF UAE had conducted a unique program to commemorate “The Year of Zayed”

named ‘The Children’s Innovation Fest –UAE 2018’CIF) in association with The

Embassy of India in UAE and Department of Science & Technology –India. The

aim of this Fest is to develop scientific temper amongst the children and to

experience the marvels of science through exhibits, skits, presentation and high

level of interaction with scientists. The Children’s Innovation Fest –UAE 2018 was

held on 10th & 11th November, 2018 at Global Indian International School, Al

Barsha, Dubai.

Students from Sunrise English Private School participated in various programs

including NCSC project, skit and Essay writing and Elocution. Students got an

opportunity to interact with two eminent scientists Dr. Pande & Dr. Mahajan and

got tips for the improvement of their projects.

Radio Asia the oldest Radio

Noora Nujum Niyaz is the Title Winner of Ishal Meherjan Mappila Song Reality Show-2018 - Season 8 conducted by Radio Asia the oldest Radio in the UAE. This reality show started before six months and there was 40 participants and had several rounds. The Finals was held in Dubai on 19/10/2018 with 10 finalists.

Noora was declared as the title winner and received a prize money of Rs.100,000/-

Hindi Divas

Hindi Divas was celebrated at Dunes intenational School, Mussafah on 20.09.18.

A variety of competitions were conducted on that special occasion. Students of

Sunrise English Private School accompanied by Mrs. Rakhi Mohan, participated

in Best out waste Emirati dress making, JAM and story writing competitions. The

school is proud to announce that our students won the third prize in Emirati

dress making and third prize in JAM. Congratulations to all the students and

thanks to the management for providing a platform for our students to

demonstrate their talents. Looking forward for such initiatives that chisel up the

skills and talents of our students.

Charity to Red Crescent

YEAR OF ZAYED—observed through the HAPPINESS IN GIVING…a charity drive

organized by the students and teachers of Sunrise English Private School. Sheikh

Zayed who had a big heart and open hands for giving set an example to the

world.

At the onset of the Holy month of Ramadan—collection boxes were placed near

the classrooms so that the students could contribute nonperishable food items

like pulses, rice ,oil ,sugar ,tea ,flour ,oats , biscuits ,cornflakes etc . The students

enthusiastically volunteered to segregate the food items then pack them in

carton boxes and label them accordingly. Students along with the Principal ,Vice

principal and teachers delivered the same to Red Crescent office in Mussafah.

Students were addressed by the officials at the Red Crescent office and they also

ensured that this will reach the needy as soon as possible. Our students

expressed their happiness in being part of a noble initiative.

Aleeshya Prajeesh of 8-H has won 1st runner up in the Western Dance-Solo

competetion in the Youth Fest 2018, conducted by Flowers FM 94.7 at Indian

It is a great privilege and honour to announce that Four students of our school

secured “COUNTRY WINNER PRIZE” of “THE TERI GREEN OLYMPIAD’’

organized by The energy and resources institute (TERI) .The winners were

felicitated in the assembly held on 17-04-2018.

The competition involves 3 levels .A total of 141 participants from Grade 4 to 10,

enthusiastically participated in exam and reflect their skills in the area of

environmental issues. The information that they gained through participation in

the Olympiad is translated into environment improvement activities at the

school level.
