THE SUNRISE YOUTH INTERVENTION ORGANISATION

The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation is a volunteer-driven

social development organisation, working to curb youth violence

in Nigeria using youth intervention and youth development

programmes.

Some of our projects include:

1. The SunRise School Tour

2. The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders

3. Our radio talk show – The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor

4. Our web series – The SunRise Sessions

5. The Obanliku Project

The organisation was founded in October 2011.

Our office is based in Calabar, Nigeria.

The SunRise School Tour

Since 2015, The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation has reached out to over 30,000

young persons through 42 school outreaches in Nigeria.

The purpose of this project is to equip young persons with information on Active

Citizenship, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Academic Excellence, Safety/Security and

Virtuous Living.

Over 7,000 educational materials have been given away as gift items and 58 students

have won a year’s scholarship through this project.

The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders

This is a follow-up program for the SunRise School Tour.

There are two basic types of certificates issued out. They include

A) The Blue Certificate.

B) The Brown Certificate.

The Blue Certificate coursework involves a two-week training on basic interpersonal

skills to help them properly engage with the world. Some of the topics include:

1) Excellence-Oriented Living

2) Leadership Basics

3) Success Habits

4) Social Graces

5) De Escalation Techniques

6) Team Building

7) Problem Solving

8) Social Media Strategy

9) Public Speaking

10) Creative Writing

11) Relationship Management

12) Personal Finance

13) Health Management

The Brown Certificate coursework which is done in partnership with PSIFON Org. and

Penzrah School of Fashion, includes training in:

1. Web Design & Development

2. Garment Making

3. Shoe Making

4. Bead Craft

The Academy has graduated over 400 Participants.

The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor

The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor

This is a weekly Radio talk-show on Hit 95.9FM, Calabar. The purpose of the talk show is

to provide young persons with quality and practical information to help them make

proper lifestyle choices for productive living. The talk show reaches an audience of

hundreds of thousands spread across Cross River State, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Abia, and

some parts of Southern Cameroon.

A special web series on the Facebook page - SunRise Transformational TV - serving as a

follow-up for the radio talk show – The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor. Videos on the

page have a cumulative view of thousands from viewers across the world. The creation

of a YouTube channel is in view.

The Hills of Obanliku

The Obanliku Project

In February of 2018, The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation took a 10-hour road

trip from Calabar to Obanliku local government area to investigate cases of Child Bride

practice in Ugbakoko, Keyi, and Bebe.
