How many conversations have you had recently that inevitably involved pollen, allergies, or the lime-green dust that requires cars to be washed 4 times a week? It seems to be a common theme this time of year. For weeks we medicate every symptom of the dreaded season, drive through the car wash 700 times, and long for the relief that will surely come. Thankfully, it will come. Although it brings with it some uncomfort-able maladies, that dusting of pollen also carries a most beautiful promise. The promise of spring and new life! All that “yuck” gives birth to incredi-ble beauty year after year after year.

Isn’t that just like God? Patiently repeating Himself again and again for His children who are so busy that we fail to see the miracle of His creation constantly swirling all around us! In the gospel of Luke, Jesus speaks of the incredible love the Father has for His creation. It brings to mind a song I learned as a little girl. I sang these words well before I ever knew how precious they truly are…

“Consider the lilies they don’t toil or spin, But there’s not a king with more splendor than them. Consider the sparrow; they don’t plant nor sow, But they’re fed by the Master who watches them grow. We have a heavenly Father above. With eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love. He really cares when your head is bowed low; Consider the lilies and then you will know.” Joel Hemphill

I am so grateful for the promise of spring and of new life. As I begin this new journey with all of you, I look to the Lord to lift our heads, fill our hearts with a new song, and to bloom powerfully in our hearts as we seek to worship and serve Him.

In April, we will be conducting a blood drive. Please donate because there is an urgent need! Giving blood is easy and safe. Won't you please help? A sign up table will be in the Foyer on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. So let's be ready to roll up our sleeves and give this life saving gift!

Childcare is provided during all services for babies through 5 year olds. The new system, Xtra, uses the Promiseland Bible story of the day and reinforces it with activities and games using the central theme. In this way, your child will be learning the same ideas about God whether he/she is there for one hour or an extended part of the morning. All of this learning at any hour is interspersed with age-appropriate play, music, and more.
