President’s Report -Hallo to all members and friends. Well here we are coming into November which signals the year ending shortly. Time goes very quickly, especially when we get older.

Our 2 past monthly shows, Palomino Deluxe with guest artist Derani along with our Len & Lorraine Wakefield Memorial Award winner for 2016, Chloe Warrick in September and then in October Graeme Hugo with the band Tru Country Plus guest artist Ella Radbone drew large attendances. Very pleasing. Our next show features Eddie Edwards and Friends with guest artist Tiffney Reynolds will be another ‘cracker’.

We welcome back from extended holidays Bernie James, our catering Coordinator, which will put a smile onto the faces of the catering staff, and also Kevin Perry, our new Entertainment Officer. Kevin will relieve me from this task which I have enjoyed doing for the past 12 months.

Our Committee is still short of a Vice President- vacant since the sad passing of Merv Jackson. I would encourage a member, male or female, with a current membership of 12 months, to come on board applying for this position. We have to look ahead and find a Vice President should I be inconvenienced at some time due to illness etc. It is an easy job. Come and talk to me.

The Slovenian Club now have a new committee and heading this committee is a very approachable lady by the name of Dinka Jerebica. She is all too happy to assist our club when needed. Dinka had no intention of becoming President when attending their AGM, but was well supported by those who nominated her.

I went along to Tandanya on Thursday evening 13th October to see Troy Cassar-Daley in a solo performance.

It was a promotion for his new book (life story) and latest CD. Troy is a great singer, guitarist and storyteller. He told of his big break into the country music scene in Tamworth when he was 15. He was invited onto the stage by the legendary Jimmie Little to sing a song. He was surprised when I told him that we were there at that concert. Also went along to the Para Hills Community Club on Saturday 15th October to listen to Trevor Keilar and band with Robyn Gleeson with her piano player. They are from Warrnambool in Vic. They are a great talent and hope to have them at our club mid 2017.

Juliet Oliver, our 2015 Len & Lorraine Wakefield Memorial awardee has been accepted into the Tamworth College of Country music. We know Juliet will take full advantage of her acceptance into the college and we look forward to seeing the new Juliet at the club early next year.

    Dean Beviss

Above photos were taken by Robert Chapman many more of his photos taken at our September show day are on his Facebook site, a number of them are also on our website. Thanks Robert for sending the above photos to me and sharing your photos on line.

VICE PRESIDENT POSITIONAs our President has said in his report the Vice President committee position is still vacant. Please

    consider applying. Talk to Dean!

    December Show :- City Cowboys

Tiffney Louise Stroh was born in Albury NSW in May 1990 and moving to South Australia with her family not only proved a lifestyle change but also gave Tiffney the opportunity to pursue a career in the music industry.

Tiffney is a three (3) time graduate of the Tamworth Camerata School for young artists, a Telstra Road to Tamworth finalist and a graduate of the Country Music Association of Australia’s College of Country Music has assisted Tiffney in gaining the Industry knowledge and recognition so vital in her quest for longevity in an industry with so many highs and lows.

In 2005 Tiffney won the SA Council of Country Music Junior Champion of Champions award. She also won the Cindy Shelton Memorial Award in 2005. In 2007 Tiffney won the SA Council of Country Music Senior Champion of Champions award.

She travelled to the Gympie Muster in 2007 and was one of the top three to perform onstage in the final alongside Danny Hooper & Liam Brew, which was to me an amazing achievement to her as she had come down with a bad dose of tonsillitis during the week

    preceding.

She also entered songwriting competitions and finished in the top 3 of the SA Apra Songwriting Competition, was awarded the Stan Coster Memorial Trophy for Songwriting at Manilla, and was awarded the New Talent Songwriting award at the South Australian Country Music Festival.

Outside of the country music genre, she won the South Australian Search for a Singer, and was second in the South Australian Search for a Star which was an open competition.

In 2010 she was a Toyota StarMaker Finalist.

She got married a few years ago, moved to Roxby and had a child, consequently her Country Music activities have been on hold for a while.

It will be good to see and hear Tiffney at our November show day.

Len and Lorraine Wakefield Memorial FundSubject to certain conditions, the purpose of the fund is to assist younger talent with proven ability: a) in entering talent quests throughout South Australia, Mildura and Tamworth, b) by payment or part payment of professional tuition, and c) towards the cost of a musical instrument. The fund is administered by the ACMC committee with expenditure limited to the interest from capital invested (plus raffles from time to time), with all payments made to the appropriate body. Annually an awardee is chosen by the Full Committee. Contributions to the fund, which may be made to the club treasurer at any time will be acknowledged in the club newsletter.

After Lorraine’s passing in 2015 the fund was renamed to include Lorraine’s name. The selection procedure has had to be changed slightly as fewer committee members have been attending the South Australian Country Music Festival in the Riverland where for many years a recipient was recommended.

Graeme ClarkeGraeme Clarke has a new CD ‘HELL & BACK’ the tracks include:- Hell and Back, My Year for Mexico, Don’t leave her lonely too long, Fraulein, Mona Lisa, I’ve had a beautiful time, Just call me lonesome, Some broken hearts never mend, Ramblin’ fever, Wrong road again, Lights on the hill, Country club, Wasn’t that a party.

Graeme was born in New Zealand. He began his professional musical career in the early 1980s where he worked clubs and restaurants in and around the Hunter Valley and Sydney area in New South Wales, Australia.

In 1983 Graeme recorded his first album titled “Graeme Clarke Sings Your Favourites” on a vinyl LP which was later re-mastered on to a CD. During 1985 to 1988 Graeme toured greater Australia until finally retiring from touring and settled down in South Australia (North Beach). He has since released 4 more albums. Details on how to purchase his albums are on his website http://www.graemeclarke.com/ The songs are also available on CD Baby and will soon be available on iTunes. He can be contacted on 0408 604 992.

I was impressed with Graeme at the Minlaton Country Music Muster in August 2015. Maybe we can have him at the Club soon!
